First off
Please note that there is no smoke without fire.

I clear conscience fears no accusation.

No one is saying he shouldn't be confirmed.

If a case has been instituted against him, the sane thing to do is to ensure that such allegations are cleared up first as mere huff puff which was instituted by political deriders.

Why the rush?
So are you suggesting we wait till all the court cases, appeals are done with? This will take a minimum of 6 months, no time. If a competent court finds him guilty, then he should be removed as minister, shikena.

No smoke without fire? Common! Obasanjo said GEJ was training snipers and only pulled back because OBJ exposed it. Would it be right if I suggest OBJ was right because, 'there is no smoke without fire'? Common now

Finally, its very easy to say he that has a clear conscience fears no foe. I really do not know your background but if you've worked in a big company or in govt, you will know that this statement is a big fallacy! One can not be unaware of the devices of the enemy! A person with a clear conscience would have suffered for long, probably in prison before it is discovered that the person knew nothing about it. That statement is a big fallacy.

PDP is a dead party and can never win election at the centre again. I stand to be corrected.

So some of the 80 Senators that accompanied Saraki to show support during his Corruption case hearing last week are now concerned about Ameachi's corruption allegations. Just saying.

If Senator Samuel Anyanwu has any honour and dignity, I expect him to resign as Chairman of the Senate committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public petitions by tomorrow. He failed in his first assignment as his report was thrown out.

So because it came from Oduah, that makes it senseless?

BTW, Oduah was not the one that said it cos last I checked, she wasn't from Ekiti.
My concern is not who said it, but the party he is from. The statement itself came first from Sekibo.

Well, I maintain that there is no smoke without fire.
Nobody can rise against you if you've not offended them. Something must have stoked it.
The question now should be, is it justifiable or not?

A judicial commission found him culpable.
How can anyone in good conscience sweep that under the carpet?
Something ought to have been done swiftly to clear such damaging report or get him indicted.

It won't have to take up to 6 months to throw out such "petty allegations" .....if that's really what it is.
Especially seeing as he has the FG's backing.
Is transparency too much to ask for?
For a government that preaches change, is 6 months too long a time to prove to the world that they do not just talk the talk, but walk their talk?

That you have a clear conscience doesn't mean you fold your arms while you await the gods to save you. That's foolishness. Wisdom requires that you do all in your power, while you can, to clear your name. Your innocence, and getting the right people to plead your cause is an advantage!

Going by this government's chant against corruption, one would expect that anything with a corruption stain attached would have no stake in it, but that's not the case today, is it?
A particular INEC chairman called Mahmud Yakubu comes to mind.

He who must come to equity ought to do so with clean hands.
Please be guided.

You still dont get the point do you? Allegations cant be a basis for not appointing someone, that is the point not whether Amaechi is guilty or not. The conclusion of the commission of enquiry is not binding on Ameachi as a court has already ruled that such commisions cant give a conviction. Ameachi has a case in court already against the commision, taking a decision based on the conclusion of the commision is subjudice.
You are basing your conclusion on morality not the law, besides Amaechi will be the most naive person on earth to appear before a commission constituted by Wike, it is utter stupidity. An independent commission will be better.
If Amaechi has been forced to clear his name first, governors will begin to abuse the opportunity. It is very simple, if a court of competent jurisdiction, not some rubber stamp commission finds Amaechi guilty, then he should and will be removed.

I mean this as no insult, but I think its utterly naive to think no one will rise against you if you havent done anything, offense meansdifferent things to difderent people. Besides, in life, even when you are doing the right thing, some will take offense

Do you think political office holders whose elections have been annulled, should leave office while they try to 'clear themselves' at the tribunal even when the law gives them the leeway to stay in office while the appeal is going on?

The law is the law, please be guided

Basing things like this on morality and ethics just wont work! Morality and ethics are highly subjective. The law can never be subject to morality and ethics else, we are finished as a people.

Again, the law is the law, I urge you in all sincerity to be guided

Pdp senators were so stupid to have walked out. It has always been majority over minority and trying to buy in saraki is another political blunder. They suppose to know that Saraki's strenght lies in the unity of Apc- saraki became senate president due to disunity and unsettlement in Apc now Apc have started restoring and the restoration is weilding power so it will be hard for saraki to betray the platform that brought him in. Pdp are trying to bank on Apc's disorderliness but right now the gap has been closed!!
