Good decision to ban all sorts of prayers in public and private schools. They are highly unnecessary and at best are mere distractions. Anybody that feels prayer is important should pray at home before coming to school.

On the other hand, am not in support of the decision that all teachers must be in suit during office hours. We should be promoting our cultural attire and not foreign ones. Cross river is the headquarters of culture and tourism in Nigeria and teachers and public servants there should be encouraged to put on attires that reflect the culture of the people.

well said, well said.

you start to wonder if the assembly ground is now a revival crusade when you pass the gate of some of these schools.
come and see casting of demons and rejection of poverty on the assembly ground. The pray @ home, in the bus, on the assembly, during break, after school, some even say the full rosary.
And u see these teachers make sure everyone prays the same prayer weda it is for ur religion or not. And they are quick to say rubbish about the child if he/she refuses to pray along.
that was a brave move by the governor, I doubt that people will let this decision stand because they just refuse to see reason. some people have started calling him occultist.... this is the kind of thinking such breeding will cause in Nigeria.

But the suit thing is a big NO. we have a hot climate in Nigeria and you expect teachers to dress like we are in Europe? And not everyone likes to wear a suit in such hot climate. That is just the same thing as telling every child to say the same prayer weda it is for their religion or not.

Rubbish move. Is Ben Ayade an occultist? What has prayers offered by pulpils and students in schools got to do with effective administration of the state?
I disagree with you on this one
The school should be strictly made for academic purposes, no wonder the Nigerian education system is in shambles

People before commenting please read the story/report. It wasn't the Governor who did, but the MOE did via a letter from the Commissioner of Police of the state.

Last time a commissioner to be suggested school children drawing criminals instead of geometric figures, today a likely occultic governor is trying to put a hold on prayer in the schools.
Anyway, Both prayer and national anthem should be stopped at school. But introduce a positive mantra or incantations to be chanted by the students every morning
How is he an occultic man?? ?

Not everyone is a Christian remember so the Governor is trying to include the right of all in his administration.

Mr, if you are not a Christian, don't enrol in a christian school. Simple as that. The governor action cannot stand. Nigeria is not at that level yet. Let people ask their belief group to form schools they can send their children to. You don't come to a mission school knowing all the rules and then you say you can't obey the rules because you don't believe in them. Simply move out of the school and look for where your belief system is accommodated. The governor's mind and thinking must be warped to include private schools. Who stops atheists and traditional worshippers and muslims from having their own schools? This hypocrisy has to stop. Rubbish governor with rubbish idea.

Evil that men do lives after them. Is that part of good governance that the people expect? i think this evil Governor is short of ideas.

If it is assembly and not prayers fine. Prayers and instructions can be taken at classroom level. It is however unacceptable that prayers stop in our schools.

Your ignorance is pathetic.
ISRAEL IS VERY RELIGIOUS AND STATE RELIGION IS JUDAISM AND IS AMONG THE RICHEST AND MOST POWERFUL NATIONS ON EARTH TODAY.
SAUDI ARABIA IS VERY RELIGIOUS AND IS A WEALTHY NATION.
IRAN IS VERY RELIGIOUS AND VERY WEALTHY.
Israel is also the only country in the world where a majority of citizens are Jewish
I think doing real research rather than posting in big fonts will do you some good.

A Gallup survey in 2015 determined that 65 percent of Israelis say they are either "not religious" or "convinced atheists", while 30 percent say they are "religious". Israel is in the middle of the international religiosity scale, between Thailand, the world's most religious country, and China, the least religious.[8]

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Israel

That fact is, most Isrealis are not practicing Jews; just as Albert Einstein was. But you will hear people like you claiming he was religious when in fact he was Agnostic.

this only happened in Babylon,no fundamental human right
Okay let's give chance for fundamental human rights.

Christians must be allowed to pray in schools

Muslims must be allowed to pray in the schools

Traditional worshippers must be allowed to commune with their gods in schools.

And the rest from the Asian religions to wicca. All of them must be allowed and giving the space to perform there religious duties and obligations.

Any attempt to resist any of the above fractions. On the count that they were performing their religious obligations. Would be punishable by the law

How about that?

Think that should be made a federal injunction for all schools. Children go to school to learn. Parents should do their parental duties of teaching their wards prayers at home. It's so wrong how institutions of learning have been turned into prayer houses.

A private school close to my house, for example, spends about 2hours every school day singing and making all sorts of noise all in the name of prayers - Time they should put in to cover their syllables.

Last week, my 4year old daughter came home from school and told me they started teaching them prayers of another faith, asking them to babble a particular phrase for about a hundred times. And anyone who failed to resite a along was flogged in the front of the whole assembly. That is so wrong!

I pray with my family every morning, and we go for our Christian gathering regularly. I don't expect any body to force my kids to a prayer or singing I do not approve of. That's definitely misleading for the kids.

Who told them that interfaith is acceptable by every body?

I guess that this is the first phase in replacing prayers with witchcraft as has been done in the US and most European countries. We don't need any further proof to show that the governor is a satanist. He can go the whole hog by setting up the temple of satan in his father's house. May God punish all these occultists that have taken over the political offices in nigeria and the world at large.

Schools are places where people are breed to solve societal problems not a place where you will be taught that you can simple pray yourself out of problems.

just imaging telling a missionary primary and secondary school to stop conducting prayers, the govt must be high.

maybe that's the condition his occultist group told he another to strengthen their power and operations in the life of school children.
