Hello all.
My interview transcript first, then my question. Exchanged greetings.
V.O: Pass your documents
Why Univ. of Alabama at Birmingham.
Me: Cuz it's the cheapest of all the schools I was accepted to and the cost of living is also lower compared to other states.
V.O; Which other schools were you accepted to?
Me: Answered.
V.O: Why this course
Me: Cuz I see myself as a leader in my profession in the future and I believe this course will prepare me adequately.
V.O: Who is sponsoring you?
Me: Answered.
V.O: What does your sponsor do?
Me: Answered.
V.O: Your visa has been approved. ......
P.S: Didn't even request to see bank statement.

Congrats.

Permit me to say this; there's nothing to learn from your transcript. I guess you were in a rush to type out of excitement. But you see, the essence of dropping your transcript is to give back to the forum for others to learn. I'm sure you must have read through previous transcripts and learnt one or two things. If those transcripts were like the one up here, you'll agree with me you have absolutely nothing to pick from it. I'll advise that you don't post for posting sake but make it meaningful for others to make reference for many years to come.

As much as you are not compelled to edit it, it will be nice if you could post your transcript as it went. It's a faceless forum.

Hello every1. Please , i'd like to how to pay undergraduate application fees. Online or mail or some other way? Do i need to open up some type of bank account to enable me do it? Please beautiful people. Thanks in advance.

Hi,

The school you are applying to should specify. However, if you have someone who can pay for you in the US, that would be easier.

I have been on this thread for some months now and I have read from Part 7 to the current part 8 to prepare myself for my interview which took place yesterday. My interview was scheduled for 6:30 AM at US Embassy Lagos. I got to the embassy at 5:30 AM. This was my second interview, I was denied in August 2015 and I posted my transcript here after that interview. Everyones feedback and critique of my transcript were very helpful....To cut the long story short, here's how it went.

My turn came around 7:55 AM

VO: Looked me straight in the eye and said Good Morning, pass me your documents.
Me: I passed my documents with my Dubai visa inside my passport (I traveled to Dubai in early Oct, after my first denial)
VO: Why are you going to the US?
Me: I want to study in the US
VO: Why did you choose this school, Harold Washington College?
Me: Actually, I was given admission at Illinois Institute of Technology but the school fees is very expensive, so I decided to start at a community college that has a good transfer rate to a 4-year college. After my associate degree I will transfer to IIT to complete my Bachelor degree.
VO: How did you come across this college?
Me: Through IIT
VO: Which program are you going for?
Me: Electrical Engineering
VO: Tell me moew about it
Me: I explained myself
VO: Who is your sponsor?
Me: My mum and my aunt
VO: Does your aunt live in Chicago?
Me: Yes
VO: He started typing and typed for so long. Then he gave me a white paper that my visa is approved. I was sooo happy that tears started to run down my face (in front of the VO), then I started crying for real when I got out (tears of joy). To God be the Glory! I joined this thread less than 6 months ago but it has been very educational for me. Thanks.

My advice to those that are going for their interview, just be confident and don't lie. Tell the truth. On my last transcript, some people said I was denied because my sponsor was in the US and d same state as the school. BUT I was honest and consistent about it. I was also honest about why I chose to go to a community college.

It still feels like a dream and I keep checking the white paper every hour to make sure it didn't change to blue...lol. This is the beginning of my success. Thanks to everyone who have made meaningful contributions to this thread....

Thanks for your works here. Could you help me pay my SEVIS fee over there please? I am finding it difficult to get this done online in Nigeria.

On a lighter note, prior to my interview a gentleman was been interviewed; he was going to visit his father-in-law in America without his wife.
When asked about his wife he said she was DOWN.
He was certainly denied.
To my question, is there anyone also resuming Univ. of Alabama at Birmingham in Spring 2016?
I'm trying to get a roommate ahead.
Perhaps is there someone who's presently schooling there who can guide me concerning accommodation?
Please contact me.
Cheers all.
Congratulations, more people wud be congratulated here including me. AMEN

Good Day All, although, this transcript is overdue (a month overdue) but I have this burden to give back (by sharing) from where I have benefited from during my preparation.

Our initial interview was in July 2015 but due to mismatch in barcode on my DS 160 Form and Appointment Confirmation, both my wife and I were turned back (since we are applying together as F1 & F2). I tried to expedite the interview, my request was approved but I was unable to secure a date before my program commencement date. Therefore, I have no other alternative but to defer my program till Spring 2016

Our interview was scheduled for 6:30 AM at US Embassy Lagos and we got to the embassy very early as usual. Below is the transcript of my interview

VO: Good morning and how are you doing. I hope the rain this morning did not affect you too much.
US (i.e. my wife and I): Good morning, the rain did not affect us this morning and thanks for asking
VO: Please, can you pass me your documents
US (i.e. my wife and I): We passed the documents with a smile on our faces
VO: I can see that you going to US for your Masters
US (i.e. my wife and I): Yes Sir
VO: I can see that you going for your Masters in Mathematics
US (i.e. my wife and I): Yes Sir
VO: Why did you choose the university?
Me: The major reason for selecting for University is because of the course contents which fit perfectly into my past experiences and future career goals. Also, I have a supervisor who works in research area that I am greatly interested in. I have over 10 years work experience in Banking Sector and my responsibility over these years involves making informed decisions based on data previously collected. During this period, I have seen Nigerian Banks moved from capitalization of N2 Billion to N25 Billion and N130 Billion. The numbers of customers have also increased tremendously which means that the data gathered over the last 10 year by different banks is enormous. Unfortunately, the data are in silos and no meaningful decision can be made from the data gathered over time. This will be a huge career success for someone with good data mining experience. Also, due to the transformation of the banking sector, great importance is placed on corporate governance i.e. information sharing. However, the details of the people with the data need to be protected without reducing the quality of the data. This is where Statistical Disclosure Limitation will be highly useful. Fortunately, I will be supervised by Prof ----- whose area of research interest is in Statistical Disclosure Limitation & Data Mining. The program will help me tremendously upon my return to work after completion of my studies. The other reasons are: the university is a large university but it has a small feel i.e. low faculty/student ratio of 20:1 which will facilitate close interaction between faculties and students. The weather condition in city where the school is location is not too harsh; the summer climate is similarly to Nigeria climate while the winter climate is not too cold compare to other cities, therefore, we will be able to settle down faster

VO: Okay, I am satisfied with that.

VO: How many universities did you applied to?

Me: I applied to 10 Universities, 5 admitted, 2 under review and 3 rejected

VO: How will you fund your education?

Me: As stated earlier, I have full tuition waiver with stipend from the University. I am only responsible for university fees which is less than US$2,000.00 per year

VO: Oooh, Can I see a letter showing the Graduate Teaching Assistantship

US (i.e. my wife and I): We looked for the document and passed it to him

VO: This is okay. I noticed that you current have US visa, but yet to use it

Me: Yes, I do have a valid US visa but unable to travel because of my tight work schedule

VO: I am done with you. Please give me a few minutes to issue your visa and then ask your spouse some questions.

After a few minutes.

VO: This is your I-20, you need to keep it very well.

VO: Madam, why are you going with your husband to US

My wife: We are a young couple trying to raise a family, I need to accompany him to provide emotional, marital and physical stability for him

VO: Will you work in US?

My wife: No, by US law, spouse of F1 is not allow to engage in paid employment and I am not intending to violate that law

VO: I noticed that you too have a current US Visa and UK Visa

My wife: Yes sir, I recently renew my UK Visa

VO: Madam, Please give me a few minutes to issue your visa

VO: This is your I-20, you need to keep it very well. Pick your visa up at this location

VO: Please enjoy your stay in US and watch lot of America Football

I was given F1 visa while my spouse has F2 visa

My advice are as below:

•You need the grace of God and with that everything will seems so easy. For us most of the questions asked by the VO was answered by him. We were just responding YES. Also, the only document asked was the confirmation of GTA. This is just the act of God's grace

•No amount of preparation can be too much. Please prepare transcript for any question that can be asked and provided adequate responses to the questions. This is to ensure that you are not caught unaware

•Confidence is very key and the VO wants to see that. Please,, always ensure that you look straight into the eyes of VO and answer questions

•Follow your dream, restrategize if need be, but never loose the believe that your dream can come to reality

•Lastly, Pray, Pray, Pray. God’s favour and mercy cannot be understated. I have noticed that you can have all the qualification, admitted to the best University and with more than enough funding but still be declined Visa.

I personally return all the success to God.

Thanks for your works here. Could you help me pay my SEVIS fee over there please? I am finding it difficult to get this done online in Nigeria.
I can help you, but you have to fill your online form yourself. Send me a PM.

USA student visa thread part 8 is here as we have come to the end of part 7.

Part 7 is here for references. https://www.nairaland.com/2310954/general-u.s.a-student-visa-enquiries-part

A big thank you to all the contributors, really appreciate your contributions especially the veterans they have been here for years helping others.

Thank you.
I am not new to Nland but I have been a silent reader of this thread, I never asked questions or followed anyone. I read through almost all the thread on Us student visa. And lucky me I got my Visa approved today at Lagos consulate. Am not sure how to drop my transcript cause I seem not to know how to use this platform well but I will love to drop my transcript, anyone to put me through please?
