elampiro:Fast indeed. He did well by isolating himself by running back but needed to run toward the ball when the pass was made. That's his slowness I'm talking about or did he think he was the only one in the box. Running toward the ball and hitting it would have made it an easy goal. Btw, no need arguing about Rooney with you sha. I'm done ![]() |

chrisley024:Running towards the ball would have limited his range to where the goalkeeper was, if at all that were possible given the tightness of action. Rooney first had to drift away from the two defenders. Again the reason I even posted at all was that they said he missed an empty net. Last season we had players who missed empty nets and they were not even shown such hatred. Already done with it. The video is there for individual assessment. |

Lekkie073, See the TV line up and formation provided by Eufa. Just like opta sometimes does, Eufa got it wrong. All four attacking positions were wrong. These are some of the things I try to explain but many people don't even listen. Mostly the new members here. Opta does get it wrong many times too. The bad thing is when opta gets it wrong, all the websites and media who source from opta end up getting it wrong. Whoscored have recently been trying. They now make adjustments in most cases when the match is on based on real match/action formation. But they are still not 100% accurate. Sometimes we played diamond last season, they gave a different formation, sometimes we played one man upfront and one behind, they created two strikers situation, etc etc.

elampiro:The simple truth is that, it was not an easy chance and MAta actually delayed on the ball which gave the defender time to swoop in and interfere. But a turly top player would be expected to finish that 8/10 times. We can cut the guy some slack but let's accept the fact that Wayne Rooney peaked at the age of 18, and is most liekly finished as a top footballer. |

Lingard in particular was impressive and i've always suspected that deploying him on the left might yield higher dividends; however i still think Ashley Young is most suited to that role as he can do what Lingard did (dribbling through) but with more maturity and consistency. If only Memphis could be the one sent to right back which apparently is the in thing ot do with misfiring wingers at old trafford these days. and I must add that although Captain Mike got the credit for the block and rightly so, Ashley Youngs awareness and urgency to get into position to interfer, before he slipped, was extremly laudable. I love that chap! |

SailorXY:stones is 10000% better than jones. you are still expecting him to overcome his demons at 23 when stones has no demons at all at the age of 21. jones is a mediocre footballer - all he has is desire. he doesn't understand the art of defending, he's always injured & he's a risk to everyone else & himself on the pitch. |

this coogar line though"Jones is a risk to himself, his opponents and his team mates . like wtf!lol |

chrisley024:https://giant.gfycat.com/AcrobaticBoldJapanesebeetle.gif And yet someone would ve us believe Rooney was closed down by the defender, wen all the time he had and needed was half a second to bury that chance... |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by Kgdavid(m): 12:46pm On Nov 04, 2015 |
AdeLaNa1:The two chances are simialr but note xactly identical. Martial had the ball and was in a dynamic position i.e he was moving with the ball...rooney on the other hand has run into position and had to stop because Mata held on to the ball for a second too long. critically, you have ot understand that when Ronneys topped, he lost momentum which meant he had to generate power to actually kick the ball instead of just tapping it in which takes an extra half second and can also make it harder to aim. If you've played at any half-decent level you should grasp this. also look at that gif and you see the defender coming in from the right of martial? should mata have delayed thepass there like he did to rooney it would likely have led to that guy making a block. I actually think after the second time that mata turned with the ball, he should have taken the shot himself instead of copping out with a late pass to rooney and then putting his hands on his head as if he didnt know that he was partly responsible. |

I CONCUR OH!"The big question for most fans presently is this: Is 'Jesse Lingard' the player that 'Depay' should be? Last night he was quick, direct & ambitious, and yet he was diligent and focused on his defensive duties as well. He never let his chin drop & never allowed his failures to over shadow his night." "His end product is hit and miss, but that’s par for the course from a young attacker. But the upshot is that he played as a player who believed that he belonged in a champions League team, rather than one trying convince everyone of that fact. He looked far more comfortable in his skin than depay who often looks as though he’s holding back for some reason, as though he’s scared to fail. He’s been a welcome addition to the squad so far this season and deserves his opportunity a lot more than depay!" Harry the Manc!!!.......( Mufc Fanzone) |

rooney was average last night! however, it was a massive improvement considering the shyte he has been serving in the last 18 months.... the standard has taken a huge dip. all rooney needs to do these days to have a good game is if he passes the ball better & does not lose the ball often like he's been doing. rooney is like a student that has been scoring 10% in all his exams in the last 18 months. if he scores 35%(which is still failure), it would be hailed cos it's an improvement. his performance yesterday is an exception, it's not the norm. people should stop getting nocturnal erëctions for what is certainly an indian summer. he will revert back to his shyte self in the next league game. |

NEPOTISM STRIKES AGAIN; "Straining every sinew in that bull terrier neck, Rooney sent the ball past goalkeeper Akinfeev. Just as well they didn’t drop him, then, as the manager was advised. Just as well United manager "Louis van gaal" trusted in the maxim: "class will out", and rooney was class" " Martin Samuel...... Daily Mail". Good god? Lol |

SIRcumalot:de gea smalling rojo lingard young that's 5 players on that list that were infinitely better than rooney last night. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by GBR1(m): 4:05pm On Nov 04, 2015 |
SIRcumalot:Believe me, Rooney had an average game at best. If he had continued the way he started in the early minutes, maybe he might have had a good game even without scoring. The goal he had yesterday is what masked his actual performance which was the petty trash he has been serving us which has now become his standard. at least 5 players had better games than him yesterday, and if anyone of these 5 players had scored, we would have considered that person ''Man of the match'' but not Rooney even with his goal. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 4:58pm On Nov 04, 2015 |
SIRcumalot:Guy come on! Who has said Rooney did not play well yesterday considering the dung he has been serving, of course he did well. We need him to be consistent in this his "good" game. Rojo, Young, Lingaard, Smalling, Blind, even Martial and De gea who had quiet games clearly played better than him. Is it because he scored? Don't let that deceive you abeg. That I did not mention schweini and carrick does not mean Rooney faired better than them, it would be debatable and I would still put them above Rooney. I repeat, Rooney played better than his normal shyte, but it was still shyte. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SIRcumalot: 5:00pm On Nov 04, 2015 |
coogar:Smalling (MoTM),de gea and then Rooney. Lingard was hot and cold for the major part of the game. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by SIRcumalot: 5:10pm On Nov 04, 2015 |
codedguy1:That was a fine performance from Rooney if that came from anybody else you go don cream your shorts already. Na Martial and fellani dey drag worst player last nite (now am wondering if you watched the game.) I think the problem here is some of you still think LVG will drop Rooney. You better pray his confidence is back to normal level and this way we can at least get some quality production from the captain. |
| Re: Official Manchester United Fan Thread:''20 Times EPL Champion by codedguy1(m): 5:24pm On Nov 04, 2015 |
SIRcumalot:Read my post (position) again maybe you understand my point clearer. I have not disputed he had a good performance, am only saying we hope he even maintains and/or improve on this performance. It was better that the shyte he has been serving us, that's why this improvement looks like he has arrived again. And we even beg that he maintains this level and hope its not a flash in the pan. The saying about half bread comes to bare here knowing that LvG will not drop him. |
