Security Risk! Your Phone Reveals Your BVN - Type *565*0# by dayspring2015(op): 8:46am On Nov 06, 2015
I just got this message on my phone. If you type *565*0# your phone will reveal your BVN. Try it and see. I just did and it is true. I am told if your phone is stolen, fraudsters can use your phone to withdraw money electronically from your account.

Experts in the house, is this true?

Haba... We haven't gotten to the stage of using bvn to withdraw from someone's account especially when the linking process is still ongoing...

But it's not a foregone conclusion and a possibility In the near future sha

How electronically?? Via which e_product channel/platform?

FYI, BVN iis just like a second level security for your account. All other platforms will still request for PIN or token for all transaction. cool

besides BVN iis yet to be integrated to bank platforms as a security option.

Your fear is unfounded.

A criminal holding your BVN and phone makes him/her more prone to be caught by the bank. In fact, when everything settles and people get to understand what the BVN represents, your BVN is the one thing a thief will want to avoid by all means. Because, with the BVN it makes it very easy for the banks to know when someone is trying to impersonate you. So, stop raising this unnecessary alarm.
