Wow! Goal! Goal!! Goal!!!!
Just had a priviledge of watching the goals highlight. Mehn all six goals are no fluke. The mexican's second was an individual brilliance.
But Okonkwo's own was a well 'Pounded' yam(sorry goal)*smiles* the keeper had no chance Nwakali's free kick is a top class.he has improved his game. His assist for Ebere shows that he got an eagle eye even while playing deep.
But wait o this mexican old o. So playing an older malians won't be a new thing!

Napoleon55, you got the bit of Osimhen, but you got the scoreline wrong.

Anyway, bring on the African Champions against the Defending Champions.... after playing bearded men today, we no dey fear Mali.

As for our Mexican wives, we thank them for helping us with 4 more goals to increase our tally to 21

I pray Osimhen does not allow individual glory supersede team glory in the finals. You may be remembered for breaking a record, but even greater, is doing that as a team.

Nwakali, you have silenced doubters and proven yourself worthy of the MVP award your name sake lifted at the 2013 edition. Hopefully, you'll join your brother in City by next year.v

Udoh, you may not get the Golden glove, but you're going to be a great goalie for Nigerian Super Eagles some day, like your big bro, Enyeama.

I wish the Golden Eaglets the best henceforth. Playing jaga-jaga football to the finals is awe-inspiring in its self grin grin

Love this part , result has made jagajaga to look beautiful , but I must say , we have some talents in that team , they can play decent football .

I just had time to see the goals and I must say, they were all wonderful. Two goals in contention for the goals of the tournament took place in one game.

It was heart breaking watching the Mexicans cry as they lost the game but, someone has to go home. There are other games for those lads in the future.

One more round Eaglets one more round.

Must we make them cry? we made them cry in the 2013 edition , we've done the same thing in this year's edition ....the Mexican will never forget us in a hurry .

Naahh... he isn't greedy... this was a difficult game... He wasnt even getting into the central area, no thanks to the mexican's defense and lack of support from chukweze...

It was a difficult game
I was talking about the end when he started letting fly, anyways he need to be a little selfish before then he was too unselfish even for a guy with 8 goals he has passed up alot of shots.

Top Scoring vs. Best Attacking

Ayaff already share award, make FIFA no spoil am.

Golden Boot- Osimhen
Silver Boot- Eggestein (barring last minute changes)
Bronze boot- Nwakali (,, ,, ,, ,,)

..

Golden Ball- Nwakali
Silver ball- Chakweze (barring any last minute changes)
Bronze Ball- Some Other Player

Golden Glove- Diarra *wipes tears*

FairPlay Award- Belgium ( Bamgboye disqualified us and the ages of some of the Mexican and Malian players are questionable)

it should end this way, give or take a few names
Well said, to me this game made Nwakali a front runner for the golden ball but don't give up on Udoh cuz i don't see us playing a 1-0 game. Also why not Osimhen for silver or bronze ball?

The two guys with the records did not have successful careers. Coulibaly and Pongolle. Success is not just about age. Coulibaly grew up in Italy, Pongolle is French so they were the right age yet their careers never took off or reached the heights in spite of early promise.

Osimhen should not be looking for a big club yet. He should go where he will play.

FIFA U-17 WORLD CUP
Cortes rekindles memories
of Maradona & Messi

(FIFA.com) 06 Nov 2015

The 21,000 spectators gathered in Conception’s
Estadio Municipal Ester Roa briefly gasped in the 59
minute of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2015 semi-final
between Mexico and Nigeria.

The breathtaking spectacle they witnessed was a fantastic individual goal from Diego Cortes to earn El Tri an equaliser at 2-2 and allow them to dream of reaching the final.

The midfielder picked up the ball on the right
touchline and began an incredible solo run, dodging
past "five defenders as if they were slalom poles"
before finishing his move with a low shot.

“I collected the pass, set off and just looked out for the gaps all the time,” he later explained to FIFA.com. “All of a sudden I was in front of goal and scored. Obviously I checked to see whether any of my team-mates were free but nobody was,” he said of his moment in the spotlight. “I don’t do that often, but it’s a great feeling.”

His coach Mario Arteaga was also full of praise after
the final whistle as he discussed this remarkable
strike, but admitted to being somewhat surprised,
given that dribbling is not traditionally among the
midfielder’s key strengths.

One thing that is certain, however, is that Cortes is
among the fastest players in Mexico’s U-17 squad. He
proved this against hosts Chile in the Round of 16,
beginning an attack on the right before sprinting into
the penalty area to meet a cross with a powerful
strike and wrap up a 4-1 win with his first goal of the
tournament.

"I collected the pass, set off and just looked
out for the gaps all the time. All of a sudden
I was in front of goal."»»Diego Cortes on his wonder goal

Unfortunately Cortes was not in the mood to
celebrate his latest breakthrough in the maze of
tunnels under the stadium a week later, as the
Central Americans went on to concede another two
goals to Nigeria in their semi-final to end their
dreams of a third FIFA U-17 World Cup title.

“Although I’m obviously disappointed, we can be
proud of having given it our all.” Said Cortes.

In a rematch of the FIFA U-17 World Cup 2013 final - a
game Nigeria won 3-0 - both sides exchanged blows
from the outset, with the Mexicans taking the lead
only for the Golden Eaglets to strike back twice
before half-time.

The Africans ultimately proved their superior stamina by finding the target twice more after Cortes’s acclaimed equaliser.
Mexico’s defeat does not change the fact that the
young midfielder’s effort has a very good chance of
being named the best goal of this FIFA U-17 World
Cup.

It even evoked memories of Diego Maradona,
who began his own solo run against England in 1986
from the halfway line and, like Cortes, danced past
five defenders before slotting the ball into the net.
Lionel Messi has, of course, managed a couple of
similar solo goals in the time since.

Despite his disappointment at the semi-final result,
Cortes had to smile when mention is made of these
two Argentinian superstars. While he admitted that
he thought of El Pibe de Oro’s famous Mexico '86
strike while celebrating his goal, “he isn’t my idol,” he
quickly added.

“Of course I admire all great footballers and watch videos of them from time to time, but my role model is Messi.”

Nonetheless, this encounter marked the end of the
road for El Tri, who were aiming to take at least a
silver medal home from South America after lifting
the trophy in 2011 and reaching the final two years
ago. “Playing at a World Cup is an experience to
treasure for life,” Cortes reflected.
“You never know whether you’ll get to play at another
one. Unfortunately our title dreams are now over, but
we still have a chance to take home a medal. We’ll
now give it everything against Belgium so that we can
end the tournament on a high note.”

The 2015 Mexican U17 is better than their 2013 tean While Nigeria's 2015 team is not as good as d 2013 team. And that made it a good matchup.

This Amuneke's team does nt play like a Nigerian side. If u understand how Nigeria typically plays u will understand my point.
Nigerian teams typically dance around with d ball with slow buildups. This Amuneke's team can turn defence into attack in less than 5secs!. They are not after ball possesion but direct play and many attempts at goal.
Each time d team moves forward u expect something to happen.

One remarkable thing about this team is they are packed with surprises. Eg u were surprised at how dey lost to Croatia.Surprised at how dey scored 3 goals in 5mins against Brazil. Surprised at how Mexico outplayef them in the first 20mins. Surprised at how dey quickly turned a 1-0 déficit plus playing poorly to a 2-1 lead and brilliant play within 8mins. Surprised at how d Mexican right back easily cut throw d defence to equalize for Mexico and surprised too as Ebere scored from almost nothing to make it 3-2.

More surprises await us in the final. I hope they will b positive surprises.

I think the Lad has used Nigeria to discover his huge potential! It's better he builds himself as a Winger than playing as a Fullback!
The essence of the Tournament is simply to discover talent, then nourishing or reshaping it!
Mexico has got a "new Messi" in their rank, it's left for them to help the Lad unraveling his talent and becomes a top notch in the Future. Yobo started as an Attacker, but ends his career as a Defender. Mikel was a superb AM, Hmmmmmm..... He's now a DM!!!

I disagree. The 2013 Mexican team is better than the 2015. They were more fluid in their passing and pressing game, and more lethal.

Our 2013 team was great and compact and but still they played great possession football and threatened us once or twice but we were saved by Alampasu. And they kept their foot on the pedal until the final whistle even though they were 3 goals down unlike this 2015 team, playing against a relatively weaker Nigerian defense and could not maintain their tempo when we were leading by a goal.

Remember Ochoa, the striker of that 2013 mexican team? That team was super compared to this 2015. Even mexicans on their forum attest to this fact. They never really saw anything special in this 2015 u17. I still rewatch the final game vs Nigeria on my laptop, the mexican team did PLAY!. Only that Naija u17 team was just too super. They (2013 Naija u17 team) are an enigma.

It is normal for kids to be deflated.

In terms of pure technical ability, this team is better.

Therefore when kids go 3 goals behind and they are not deflated but still continue to play like nothing had gone wrong, it shows character beyond their years. That team displayed maturity. That team was crisp and clinical. I maybe the only person who is still not impressed with the 2015 Golden Eaglets team. I believe the 2013 Mexican team would have defeated our 2015 set. That team would have scored at least 3 goals in that first 25 minutes of total domination of last night.

If we were to merge the 2013 and 2015 together, the only person who would have made the first team is Osimhem, and that is if Success is injured, and maybe Udoh, though personally I would still prefer Alampasu because of his height and ability to organize the defence.

That team was crisp and clinical. I maybe the only person who is still not impressed with the 2015 Golden Eaglets team. I believe the 2013 Mexican team would have defeated our 2015 set. That team would have scored at least 3 goals in that first 25 minutes of total domination of last night.
I am also not impressed by the 2015 team for the most part but they create chances even when they are not playing particularly well. So they will score goals even against the 2013 Mexico.

That is why it is a strange team. They are not flamboyant. They can just kick a long ball to Osimhen, then hope and pray. And they will create chances.

The truth is this Mexican team missed their chance to beat us. They were dangerous but wasteful particularly in the first 35 minutes.

The last mexican team did not dominate all games. This one has. I remember Brazil out playing the 2013 set but losing on penalties.

Ah...they did o. Against Brazil, they dominated and were unlucky to go to Penalties. Against a rampaging Argentina in the Semi finals, they schooled them and won with 3 unreplied goals. Most people tipped Argentina in that match. That team was good. You guys forgot that it was that final match against them that won Alampasu the golden glove. He was unbeatable that day. He was at his best.

Well, Cortes isn't a full back..... He's actually a midfielder........... The lad is gifted no doubt but mehn!!! Such goals na "once-in-a-lifetime" kind, only that Messi has done it twice....... *smiles*

For me, Cortes' goal against us is the goal of the tournament followed by Okwonkwo Orji's Wonder Strike (which I give 2nd place)....... But this is pending if "better goals" emerge in the remaining two matches........... *smiles*
