Hundreds of people in southern Nigeria have been protesting about the continued detention of Nnamdi Kanu, an activist who supports the creation of a breakaway state of Biafra.
The director of Radio Biafra was arrested last month and is still being held despite a court order to free him, his mainly ethnic Igbo supporters say.
The government says his station has been operating without a licence.
Biafran secessionists fought a three-year civil war that ended in 1970.
More than one million people lost their lives before the uprising was eventually quelled by the military.
Secessionist groups have attracted the support of many young people in the south-east in recent years.
The BBC's Abdussalam Ahmed in the southern-eastern city of Enugu says in reality they do not want a repeat of the civil war but are keen to draw the attention of the central government to some developmental challenges the region faces.
Africa Live: BBC news updates
Our correspondent says the peaceful protests started on Friday in the oil-rich Delta state and has since taken place in five other major cities in the region.
The demonstrators are mostly young men holding Biafra flags and banners with pictures of Mr Kanu, who is also a leader in the secessionist Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).
Tuesday's march is taking place in the city of Owerri in Imo state a day after the region's biggest market in the city of Aba was reportedly shut down by protesters.

Nnamdi Kanu has been in the custody of Nigeria's intelligence agency for more than three weeks
"We won't give up until our director Nnamdi Kanu is released," one protester told our reporter during a protest in Enugu.
The Biafra activists say a court in the capital, Abuja, ordered the release of Mr Kanu but authorities have refused to comply despite all the conditions set being met.
It is not clear where Radio Biafra is based but it mainly broadcasts to the Igbo-speaking south-east of the country.
The Nigerian government began jamming its signals in July but it is still available online and via mobile phones by a dialling a local number, our reporter says.
An IPOB leader, Uchemna Madu, told the BBC that the group was fighting against the "injustice and inequality" ethnic Igbos faced in Nigeria.
"We believe in Nigeria, we have businesses everywhere in the country but we are getting nothing apart from political and social marginalisation," he said.
"Our lives and properties are not secured, we want to live on our own."
The Nigerian authorities have always maintained that most of the issues the Biafra activists are complaining about are not unique to southern part of the country.

Buhari is a disgrace to democracy and with the way he's going it is just a matter of time before he will give credence to these agitators and it would be too late to stop, then we will understand what we have brought upon ourselves by voting in a man who once truncated our first democracy with zero respect for democratic institutes, principles and basic human right.

Somebody should tell Buhari to respect the rule of law and democratic principles, else this country can't survive two armed conflict in two different parts of her borders.
That is my fear. Any mistake by that old man and we would be drawn into something we won't be able to get out from. And truth be told, if the chips are down, I am certain the SS region would rather stick with the Biafrans or decide to carve out a Niger Delta region. We both know the militants can still do considerable damage to this country.

All in all, this country cannot afford to fight on all these fronts. And from all indications, the old man might just take us down that route.

That is why you need the maturity of purpose. Do you know the number of tribes in say italy, or even the US?

We need to see ourselves pass the ethnic tags we've drawn ourselves in. We might never totally defeat it, but at least some of us should show others the maturity of mind that this nation deserves.

That is the Beauty of democracy. if buhari is stealing everything and taking it to the north, he has just 4 years. After that, we can align with the yorubas and make sure he's dethroned. We need to start creating political inroads in Nigeria.

I forever maintain that Nigeria is bigger of a price for the igbos to conquer than Biafra.

Shachris, You have the right to adopt and stay in nigeria and yorubaland when the sun rises from the East but you don't have the right to deny others what they want, if it is Biafra. grin

Or rather the Lawyer of Kanu keeps shouting they have fulfilled d bail conditions but the Federal Govt is stil holding him against his right! No wonder Biafrans call this place a Zoo
bros it is too late to release kanu ,releasing him now will fuel the flame of this actions more and will make the people see him as a hero . The FG should have released him earlier and it seems that kanu of a guy is very intelligent . Remember fifth columnist are lurking around the corner waiting to seize the slightest opportunity to escalate the issue . As the case is now no single traditional ruler or elite in the east will speak against these agitators for security reasons

Buhari just made this t.wat a global star... Look at the name tag - human right activist? What nonsense. I am Igbo and Kanu does not represent my believe. Change in name is not same as calling for accountability of leaders. This movement would have first of all focused on our regional leaders to account for the allocations they have mismanaged under Nigeria. This movement would have proposed a weaker federal government under Nigeria and call for regional resource control in order to drive healthy competition across board.

Instead, this british citizen called Kanu is calling for guns and bullets and hatred for other tribes. This is absolute rubbish.

U re lost . Nnandi is gift to Ndigbo. I doubt if u ve listened to him . He is all rounder and super being if u think u re smart or intelligent listen to him and compare . See the demostration going on ffor him that alone tells whom he is . This demostration is greatest in africa in recent time .

Grandpa Bubu should act democratically and have Nnamdi Kanu released so these protests can temporarily end, because I'm deeply convinced the Biafra movement is greater than Nnamdi Kanu himself.

Buhari's advisors should advise him that we are still in a democracy.

Once again, many kudos and respect to the IPOB for defying fear and hesitancy in protesting for the release of their leader.

If a nation killed my grandparents simply because they refused to belong to that nation decades ago, I'll never forgive it; I'll continue to seek to break free from such a contraption.

The protests must continue even after Nnamdi Kanu is released. It's not about Nnamdi kanu alone. It's equally about the freedom of a very large population under political imprisonment for 50 years.
