Katsumoto: Sir, I think the problem with these politicians is that: a lot of them don't actually go there to solve anything. More time they see politics as a business to maximise profits - and not a service to the people. Once you have folks with a skewed mentality like that, and followers who don't really understand anything apart from praise-singing once loose change swings to their way - nothing is going to change. The whole country - leaders and followers - need a change of mentality/drive. |

Shymm3x: Thats what I am trying to tell Dayo. These chaps have no ideas; all they are interested in is lining their pockets and the praise worship from sycophants. |

IlekeHD: Loool. I just love messing about. You just have to know how to laugh and catch fun through all the BS, to create a balance. Life's short. Sholly the Ekiti feminazi, if you're reading this, come back. But cut down the feminism tripe. Ain't no one got time for that bs. |

Katsumoto: In as much as there will still be sub-unit of governance under the regional or confederacy system such as States, LGs, kingdoms or whatever we decide shall be our sub-units, i do not think we will not be able to manage our differences for the achievements of greater good of the yoruba race effectively. |

Katsumoto: That's the difference between folks from Awolowo's era and this generation. Those folks witnessed the evils of colonialism and vicious racism cos a lot of them studied outside the country. And once they got back to Nigeria, there was a drive to achieve something great and prove the doubters wrong. Politics back then was more of a service to the people. However, today, with the teeming number of youths who're just out there for the crumbs they'll feast on today - there can't be accountability by the leaders. The whole thing is basically just perplexing and it looks like a vicious cycle now. Generations come to make things easier for the future ones, not to make it worse. But with us, it seems we're already making things worse/tougher for the future ones, before they get here. If things don't change - future generations will never forgive this generation. Posterity will judge us. Awolowo managed the finances of the country during the civil war and never borrowed a penny. I'm sure there are hundreds of Awolowos out there on the streets of Lagos, Ibadan, Akure, Abeokuta, Ekiti, Oshogbo etc.. Those are the folks we need in these trying times. We can debate all we want, but the deficits/debts keep growing daily. Something just has to give. |

Katsumoto: My position is that we have imbibed a culture of laziness and corruption over the past 40yrs that even good intentioned politicians have failed in Public sector We have had Tai Solarin, Wole soyinka, Kayode Fayemi, Gani Fawehinmi, Fashola, Ebenezer babatope even people Like Bola Ige and Bisi Akande etc These people above have excelled in their profession, well educated I believe they had good ideas and intentions But either couldnt win election due to the Nigerian factor or were swept away by intellectually inferior people from govt Katz. How many of the above would you doubt their competence, intentions or integrity. Caliber of people dont get better than the above named even in developed countries If we cant get the above to work to maximum capacity, then our problem goes beyond individuals That is my point!! 2 Likes |

superstar1: @bold is the koko. Without Yoruba's in control of their destiny, Yoruba will be a based nation/region soon. The solution is either Yourba's vigorously push for a Yoruba region or a Yoruba Nation. We will soon be a backward and underdeveloped Nation. Forget about Lagos. Other parts of Yoruba cities are underdeveloped when compared to international cities/nations. But i don't think our leaders are really serious about it. Na minister position we wan chop. Mtchewww! Shia! How dis thread don reach 200 pages? |

forgiveness: However, there has to be a way to at least make things work a little bit in the current quagmire. At the end of the day, what makes a man is how best he can make use of his survival instinct regardless of the situation he finds himself in. I honestly don't think Nigeria is stopping folks from being selfless. |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Shymm3x: 11:38pm On Nov 16, 2015 |
modath: Nah, not really. Once you listen to rap music a lot, you'll definitely understand at least 90% of ebonics. Rap music is more of ebonics/5-percent-nation dictionary. It's just basically like listening to reggae/bashment and how it helps in understanding patois. I used to live on AA websites back in the day, and everyone thought I was an AA. |

We can spend every night & day postulating hypothesis on the way out but until a short term poverty alleviation scheme is put in place, our people are not likely to have a mental shift from scrounging for crumbs of politicos tables.... When the few of us here gather to fashion a way out of the quagmire & we don't have cups of rice & 2k to share to people, what happens?? |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by IlekeHD: 11:39pm On Nov 16, 2015 |
forgiveness: Dude, Nigeria is underdeveloped period. I think it was Shymmex that described Nigeria as a nation where poor pathetic subgroups compare their pathetic lifestyles with each other. Yes, we do want regionalism. And Yes, we would also prefer our own country. |

modath: I think that comes with education/enlightenment/exposure cos what the leaders are denying the people is their right. However, a lot of folks are of the mentality that politicians are doing them a favour by giving them crumbs. Power belongs to the people but our people don't know that. I hate to say this but that's what separates us from white folks. |
Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by Katsumoto: 11:43pm On Nov 16, 2015 |
Shymm3x: You are on the money. When people get to a state of hopelessness, they believe the solution lies in the unattainable. We have heard some blame the current malaise on power. And some believe that secession is the answer. Secession isn't going to happen and efficient power distribution can be obtained if SW sinators (my spelling) and reps agitate for looser federal govt controls. In the interim, people must demand better accountability from their administrators and exercise their power during elections. 1 Like |
