unclesamtech: When you have a CDMA Blackberry and your using it with a sim card ,BOLD 5-9930-SPRINT, Storm, Tour, Storm2 ect you will sometimes have an error on your screen saying Service Required or Activation Required. To remove this Error Message do the following:

1. On the main screen of the phone, press ##000000 OR ##111111
2. For the Mobile Directory Number, put in your phone number in there.
3. After you have done that, press the menu button to save the options and the phone will automatically restart

Notes: Be Sure the phone is not saying low battery when this is attempted .YOU MAY CONTACT ME IF THIS IS NOT WORKING FOR YOU FOR MORE INFO ...

Armstrong57: Hi,i bought a "sprint black berry"phone,found out that Etisalat doesnt support my phone after subscribin 4 a Monthly.Am now using MTN on it and works well..I was wondering,is there a way i can hack it to use Etisalalt BB plan on it,do other networks work on it?
Also,hw do i clear the "Activation required message".Thanks

All sprint/verizon "branded" blackberry phones are not compatible with Etisalat but other networks work fine. have never had "activation required" issues with mine(verizon branded). U should try the solution by the OP, if it doesn't work contact him. Happy sunday

Hands free activation
If this is the first time activating your device, hands free activation automatically starts when you power it on for the first time.
With your device powered off, press and hold the Power key until the screen turns on.
Your device automatically enters hands free activation mode.
Tap OK.
You've now completed hands free activation.
Note: If hands free activation fails, continue to the next guide.
One touch programming
If this is not the first time activating your device, or hands free activation did not complete successfully, use one touch programming.
From the home screen, swipe up to open the All tray.
Scroll to and tap Manage Connections.
Scroll to and tap Networks and Connections.
Tap Mobile Network.
Press the Menu key.
Scroll to and tap Update Profile.
Tap OK.
Press the End key.
You've now completed one touch programming.
Note: If one touch programming fails, continue to the next guide.
Manual programming
Only use manual programming if both hands free activation and one touch programming did not complete successfully on your BlackBerry® Bold™ 9930.
Manually programming your device requires a 6-digit programming code and a 10-digit MSID. If your device was activated via www.sprint.com/activate, these codes may be found in the phone activation confirmation email or on the programming instructions page displayed after the activation was processed.
If this is a new line of service or you don't have these codes, make an appointment at a nearby Sprint Store for assistance getting your device programmed.
From the home screen, press the Send key.
Dial ## followed by the 6-digit programming code. For example, ##123456.
Press the Send key.
On the CDMA Service Edit Screen, replace the existing Mobile Directory Number with the correct the 10-digit phone number (MDN).
Scroll to IMSI_S and enter the 10-digit MSID.
Press the Menu key.
Tap Save.
Your device restarts.
After it restarts, from the home screen, swipe up to open the All tray.
Scroll to and tap Manage Connections.
Scroll to and tap Networks and Connections.
Tap Mobile Network.
Press the Menu key.
Scroll to and tap Update Profile.
Tap OK.
You've now completed manual programming.
Device reset
Only reset your device if it was previously active using a different phone number (MDN).
From the home screen, press the Send key.
Dial ##72786.
Tap Continue.
Tap OK.
Your device restarts.
After it restarts, your device is ready to be used.
You've now reset your device.

Pls guys,i jst got a bold5 9930,nd itz nt browsing,ve tried everytin i kno nd itz still nt going,it jst use 2 display dis msg "browsin over d cellular ntwrk is not included as part of ur current service plan.to browse d web,u mst use wifi or contact ur service provider to change ur service plan"..u guys shuld pls hlp me out..
