All because it is a Yoruba Mathematician that was credited for this feat, they are so angry and bitter

. If it was an easterner, which is highly unlikely, they would have opened countless threads to beat their chests.

They have time to send emails to organisations to confirm if a Yoruba man is smarter than them but they cannot write letters or emails to their leaders to explain why Eastern land is poor and the youths unemployed

If easterners spend half of the time they use on Yoruba matter on their own development, Eastern land will more habitable

Congrats to Mr. Enoch and Nigeria as a whole. Although we need to be careful how soon we denounce or approve a news. It cuts both ways, bloggers have made it easier to easily not believe in a news story, we need professionals in Mass Com and Journalism to take the reins and show how its done.

True, claymath hasn't updated it on their website but then, here is BBC confirming it. Are we to say BBC is wrong as well?

You are kidding.

The hypothesis had not been solved for over 150years. How does BBC knows its been solved?. If for a centruy and more than 5 decades, no mathematicians could offer solutions, is it the Holy Spirit that just told BBC that the problem has been solved just because one man has scribbled some math related notes?

Google Chike Obi or Philip Emeagwali. Educate yourself on the people who invented mathematics.

Chike Obi (April 17, 1921 – March 13, 2008) was a Nigerian politician, mathematician and professor.

You loud mouth wont let us hear word because your brother solved one equation that nobody was interested in.

The African Mathematics Union suggests that he was the first sub-Saharan African to hold a doctorate in mathematics. Dr. Obi's early research dealt mainly with the question of the existence of periodic solutions of non-linear ordinary differential equations. He successfully used the perturbation technique, and several of his publications greatly helped to stimulate research interest in this subject throughout the world and have become classics in the literature.

Actually, I was one of his students some 8yrs) ago and that was when he hinted us about the problem. He traveled to Austria 2weeks ago to defend his findings, and under a normal circumstance it ought to have takn nothing less than 18 months for clay institute to review the solution and certified that it has finally been solved. So that's the reason its not yet updated on their site and has a matter of fact, vanguard shouldn't have initially broke the news.
Re: Opeyemi Enoch Solves 150-Year-Old The Riemann Hypothesis - Bbc World Service by anangboy(m): 12:45pm On Nov 17, 2015
BBC has not and does not possess the authority to confirm if this complex hypothesis has been proved. BBC can only report, only the Clay institute has that authority.

The Clay website has not reported thus. This BBC article does not confirm anything but presents it as Dr. Enoch's claim and the article goes ahead to conclude that "If it is confirmed that he is the first person to provide a solution, Dr. Enoch could scoop a million dollar prize".

To be awarded this prize, your proof must be published in internationally recognised peer reviewed journals and it must also have general acceptance in the mathematics community two years after, the last part of which has not been satisfied by Dr. Enoch.

Please be guided accordingly.

I know him very very well.. He taught me two courses last semester. This solution that we are talking about, he had shown a part of it to some of us before releasing it.

The Reimann hypothesis was proposed in 1856, making it 156 years-old. Even the Nigerian news is even more accurate that this BBC story.
I checked the BBC website www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/p03891wc , they were uncertain. They didn't make a claim, they posed a question instead. So op, your mobile version of the story has been tampered with. Anyone looking for the true story should check the site.

Nigerian professor claims to solve 150 year old maths problem

Has a maths problem, which has gone more than 150 years without a solution, finally been solved by Nigerian academic Dr. Opeyemi Enoch? The Riemann Hypothesis was first proposed by Bernhard Riemann in 1859. If it is confirmed that he is the first person to provide a solution, Dr. Enoch could scoop a million dollar prize.
Anyway, Claymaths Institute site still shows that this hypothesis remains unsolved. If Claymath is the one giving the award and the prize, then their acknowledgement is all I need to believe this is true.
Until then keep posting! Give us CNN , AlJazeera.
All that matters is Claymath's side of the story.

.
The BBC has updated the story from "Solved" to "Claim to solve".

Trust me... If it turns out to be a valid solution, everybody will hear about it and it will be a huge plus for Nigeria.

Below is what the BBC actually said in the link supplied by the OP. It doesn't seem like a confirmation:

The Telegraph has also reported the story, but it's not on the Clay Institute's website. Therefore, I think that the professor has submitted a solution, but it hasn't yet been verified by the Clay Institute. I'd rather wait for the Clay Institute to verify it and make the announcement.

Re: Opeyemi Enoch Solves 150-Year-Old The Riemann Hypothesis - Bbc World Service by Stconvict(m): 1:18pm On Nov 17, 2015
If anything this story is gathering traction on the internet. International news sites like UK telegraph www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/africaandindianocean/nigeria/12000314/The-Riemann-Hypothesis-solution-found-by-Dr-Opeyemi-Enoch.html are picking up the story. This says a lot about the follow-the-sheperd style of journalism today. They don't work with facts anymore, it's all about copy and pasting, but I'm sure they will change their wordings soon though.
Now this man's salary is going to increase, even if his proof gets debunked. He is now a celebrity mathematician. Students and scholars around the world are going to talk about him. If this was his original strategy, then it is working.
