All because it is a Yoruba Mathematician that was credited for this feat, they are so angry and bitter

. If it was an easterner, which is highly unlikely, they would have opened countless threads to beat their chests.

They have time to send emails to organisations to confirm if a Yoruba man is smarter than them but they cannot write letters or emails to their leaders to explain why Eastern land is poor and the youths unemployed

If easterners spend half of the time they use on Yoruba matter on their own development, Eastern land will more habitable
Yibhoes and bitterness, na like bread and butter.

Dr. Opeyemi acknowledged the Clay Math Institute but the Institute has distanced association from his claim. Meanwhile BBC and other news media are carrying the news... Biko, which one is true? Shouldn't Clay Institute acknowledge this or rather, should the Dr. defend this? Also, who awarded him the $1million prize?

You nailed it!

They have invaded Nairaland and planted themselves as "Mods" here and there!
undecided undecided

But no matter what,.." Abini-bi" (native intelligence)..... is greater and not on the same wavelength as "Ability"

Yorubas are not on their wavelength, anyday, anytime! wink wink

Haters cry cry cry can hate all they want, they can't change the obvious fact that Yorubas are exceptionally very intelligent! tongue tongue tongue

Before the Colonial Masters left, the Britons made an historical observation while testing different tribes during Military exercises in the then new Nigerian Military. They said Yoruba military officers are unmatchably the best at inventing and developing catastrophically destructive military tactics and strategies. This was verified and corroborated during Biafran war. igbos can make chest-beat for as long as they want but, history has shown that they are not as half as intelligent as the great Yorubas! Brain is better than brawn (in fact, brain rules brawn).

Even though they try so hard to deny and hide it, one reason why igbos hate Yorubas so much is because they know that Yorubas are by far FAR much more intelligent than them. All igbos strategies, French military supports, plans and profuse frantic efforts was almost giving them Victory during the war. The war dragged on for almost 3 years.
Read History, Nigeria was actually losing till the Great unUniformed super intelligent Generallisimo; the Great Awolowo stepped in on the side of the Nigeria Military. He came up with the best military strategy that quickly and most effective ended the war that has dragged on for almost 3 Years. Typical of igbos, Coward fake chest-beater, Ojukwu dressed like a woman (tail between his legs, urinating on his body) fled before the fierce mercilessly Yoruba Soldier Bejamin Adekunle the Scorpion and other soldiers. Suddenly, the senselessness igbos that had been boasting came cap-in-hand, tongue-in-cheek, using their mouth to wipe the floor, weeping and begging Nigeria to have mercy on them. Yorubas are geniuses. When next you see a Yoruba, duff your hats and bow!

Except Yorubas decides to leave Nigeria, let igbos fight 10,000 biafra wars, we would defeat them! We did it before, we'll do it again and again...
I will only take you serious when WAEC, NECO and JAMB confirm this Yoruba intelligence. As far as the South Eastern states still top the charts in these 3 exams, including the Unity Schools entrance exams, then you are just ranting.

Please remember that the first black VC in the first Nigerian University (University of Ibadan, in Yoruba land) was an Igbo man, Prof Kenneth Dike. The first black VC of UNILAG, Prof Eni Njoku was also an Igbo man. Let's not even go into the history of many firsts, including the first Professors of Mathematics, Medicine, Economics etc.
My guy, just leave that your bragging.

Anyone who attempts something like this usually gets my admiration. They do not have to win it or solve it. Ur already a genius in my opinion by merely taking a crack at it. I read a book recently about a Princeton prof who solved the last fermats theorem in the early 90s. Fermats last theorem states that there are no integer solutions for x^n + y^n = z^n (for n >2). This simple looking theorem had gone unsolved for about three centuries and puzzled a lot of mathematicians thru time. Whole new branches of math and sophisticated techniques had to be developed that enabled professor wiles and his contemporaries to come closer to a solution. But it was wiles who did it after dedicating most of his life and 7 concentrated years to the task. At any given time there are probably less than 100 ( a conservative no.) human beings walking the surface of earth who have the skills to even attempt a solution. So kudos to the Nigerian who is "doing" this.

So, until this news got broken by BBC and CNN it shouldn't be taken serious that a Nigerian is capable on such feat?. I mean, are we saying white people are the custodians of knowledge?. Are we saying white people are knowledge base of what we should know and what we shouldn't know?.

Africans are forever slaves to the west. Indeed, intellectual slavery is the worst legacy of colonialism.

The truth of the matter is that this guy has found a solution. Now, whether the solution is correct or not is the real question. I don't understand why people just like jumping to conclusions. If the Clay institution is even involved in this matter at all, I am sure they will need some time to verify and peer-review the guy's claims. Meanwhile, Nigerians have already started spending the one million dollars by mouth cheesy

Nobody is saying the guy is not capable here but think about it: BBC has proven to be unreliable with news like this; the clay institution has said that there is still no solution and up until yesterday, only Nigerian sources were carrying this news.
It all seems a little suspicious don't you think? I personally think the dude has a solution that hasn't been proven yet and he needs to stop tooting his horn prematurely.

Quoting from the famed QUORA forum This fine piece of journalistic prowess could have been avoided had the BBC reporter bother to do any one of the following:
Use Google to discover that the paper uploaded by Mr. Enoch carries someone else's name (Werner Raab), who actually published this non-proof on the web two years ago.
Use Google to search for ecstatic roars of applause from mathematicians worldwide who attended a purported presentation of the proof at a conference in Vienna. There are none.
Give a quick call to the math department at Cambridge, Oxford, Bristol, Glasgow, Nottingham or bloody Wollongong and ask if anyone has heard the dramatic news. He would have been politely told to search for other stories to report on, and not to worry about being scooped.
The only story here is the pretty common failure of reporters to check their stories with anyone who knows anything about anything. Seriously, it's not that difficult to track down a mathematician in England.

I appreciate the comment. It comes easier to praise pple only when they have produced results than when they have only made efforts that are even praiseworthy. This man has enough talent to make an attempt and I admire that. We shld only wait to hear what Clay Math will finally decide before making a useless tribe contest out of this
