Naijaphil:Unfortunately, you don't know that white man would find it very difficult to believe an African or even a blackman could solve that maths problem. So, even as the man have the answer he will not be believed, because white people believe they're the custodians of knowledge, and rightly so because brainwashed people like you exist. This's why I pity people like you, cause you have no idea of the ongoing intellectual control that white people exerts or want to exert over YOU. The man have the answer, but he would not be believed, because he's a blackman. OPEN YOUR EYES BLACKMAN!. |

Boy101:Go back and read the BBC article again, they did not confirm anything...BBC said, the professor 'claimed' to have solved the problem, and they went further to state that, if that is true, he 'stands a chance to win $1m'...those are not confirming statements. Many math professors and guru over the years have claimed to have solved one of the clay's million dollar questions and each of them fail short after vetting. Dr. Enoch submitted a paper, it has not been confirmed if he solved this problem, more so, this problem is still listed as 'unsolved'. |

No smoke without fire; this rumor has been quite persistent and now BBC has joined the bandwagon; all I can say is that maybe the Professor made a close attempt. |

musicwriter:See this is why people cannot have meaningful conversations with people like you. You take what is a simple reasonable explanation of what can be happening in one situation and then turn it into me being brainwashed. Who are you calling brainwashed? It is not my portion or my family's portion. You can believe whatever you want with as much cynicism as you like. Just don't let it turn to paranoia there. I have explained what I feel about this situation and I am not partaking in a discussion like the one you are trying to start. If you want to sit there and blame everything wrong with the world on the white man then good luck with your life. |

musicwriter:I don't know why we always defaults to these types positions...black people have made headway in science, medicine, art, etc and they are recognized worldwide because of their contributions, even by the Whiteman. There is nothing to suggestion that, Dr. Enoch is been snubbed because he is black...there is a rigorous vetting process put in place for potential solutions for one of the millennial questions and the person does not even have to submitted their solutions to the Clay Institute. They are required to piblish their solution in an international reputable mathematics magazine, where it will remain for at least two years and where other world wide mathematicians, will critique, vet or collaborate the solution openly; so it is an open vetting process that will last for two years...after the two years period, the Clay Institute will form a three panel board to look at the proposed solution and other critiques/collaborating publications and then make a decision. Mathematics is straight forward, there is no way to cheat and the publication date gives periority to each author, so there is no conspiracy here. Also, somethings when we do not follow the rules, we harm ourselves...CNN or BBC or Social media is not the right place to air this discovery; you keep it secret until it is published in a mathematical journal...online social media or news organizations cannot vet your solution and by going to them, you give others who have been seeking for this solution for decades to beat you to publishing it and at the end of the day, if we loss out, we will start blaming the Whiteman instead of ourselves. |

Stconvict:Did you read what I posted before storming at me. I do not need to check the website to prove the point I was making. In the quoted part of the article, the person said, “As a matter of policy, the Clay Mathematics Institute does not comment on solutions to the Millennium Problems." So, the person can not say whether the millennium problem is solved or not. So even if the site said it is not solved, it does not prove anything because Clay Mathematics Institute will not comment about it. They have a policy before they comment. Nigerians and Hatred for themselves. |

Naijaphil:Why don't you have faith that a Nigerian have solved the problem?. Why don't you believe until white man say so?. At least, if you've suggested he go to international publications like the other guy said, that would be understandable. |
| Re: Opeyemi Enoch Solves 150-Year-Old The Riemann Hypothesis - Bbc World Service by linearity: 5:28pm On Nov 17, 2015 |
musicwriter:That is the problem, he should have publish it first, thereby preserving his priority before telling any living soul. Million of people had been seeking solution to one of the several Clay Institute questions in other to cash in on the huge pay out, opening your mouth before preserving your priority gives others a hints and if they beats you to publication even dubbing your solution, you lose out. |

linearity:It's possible he've submitted his findings, but it may have been discarded as nonsense by white people, without even hearing him out. WHITE PEOPLE BELIEVE THEY GAVE YOU THE KNOWLEDGE AND THAT YOU CAN'T POSSIBLY KNOW BETTER THAN THEM. While you may find this unbelievable, that's unfortunately the reality for an African, whether in academic or other human endeavor. |

musicwriter:Refer to what I wrote in my first post. I said that I believe he has a solution but that the solution has not been confirmed by anyone. This is the field of mathematics and these things must be thoroughly verified and peer-reviewed. The very fact that he has a solution is applaudable. It's not easy. It is just this media circus that the guy has created that seems to be annoying everyone. He should have said from the start that he has A solution; one that he has not yet proven to anybody. I believe strongly in Nigerian minds, trust me! And it is true that we have been marginalized and treated as apes for too long. In this case though, the guy is just complicating matters. This is where we were both confused about each other's points I think. |

Naijaphil:My bother or sister. Mr. Opeyemi have the answer, but he woundn't be believed because he's a blackman. Even though he have the answer, he will still have to fight to be heard. I believe that's why he went to BBC. There's a real conspiracy against black people, and it didn't begin today. In order to keep controlling the minds of black people, there're some feats that are not supposed to be credited to black people. Despite that human life began here in Africa, white people deem it fit to draw Adam and Eve as white. Despite that Jesus and Mary were black, white people deem it fit to present them as white. The erased history of black people and bible characters. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NX0DtMiYxEM Despite that Pythagoras studied Mathematics here in Africa, the history books have no credit for blackman developing mathematics. As a matter of fact, Pythagoras is being treated as a myth among western scholars, just because he said he studied mathematics in Africa. Pythagoras https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pythagoras We have looked into these things and have proof, that's why I find it annoying my fellow blacks keep saying "YES" when white man say "YES" and "NO" when white man say "NO". |

One thing caught my attention though. The tribalistic war on this thread only involves two tribes the Igbos and the Yorubas. Where are the Hausa? Is the academic tussle between the Igbos and the Yorubas alone? There should be Hausas here to defend their academic excellence given they are nearly more than the two other tribes combined. |

Even though Opeyemi Enoch has solved it, it has to go through a process before Clay Mathematics Institute changes the status. |

The brouhaha about this issue is uncalled for. Any original piece of work by any researcher would have to be validated by his peers. Thereafter such ground breaking discovery would be disseminated widely via reputable journals in the research area. Thus far, the media is actually harming Dr. Enoch's reputation with this circus show, he doesn't need their support in order to convince mathematical experts about the validity of his work. |

Stconvict:Wrong notion. Trying to prove a tribe is smarter or better than the other is no different from Racism. Where the white man felt because of developmental and economical strides, they were better than the blacks. We should stop looking for an avenue to differentiate each other. The achievement of Dr Opeyemi is an achievement for Nigeria. We have smart Nigerians in all races, from the Igbos, to the Yourubas, to the Akwa Ibomites, to the Ijaws to the Hausas, to the Riverine people and so on. |

Christmasdon:The Germans thought they were the Chosen ones when Adolf Hitler led them to slaughter the Jews. This kind of mentality is very wrong. Every tribe and race is special. We are all created in the image of God. Beautiful and magnificent. Everyone has a gift in them to make them shine. They just have to discover it. There is no chosen tribe or race. |

Today, the method is used in curing many diseases that seemed incurable like Ebola, Swine Flu, Herpes, Hepatitis, Cancer etc. There is even breakthroughs through it in the treatment of Autism. |

TheGoodJoe:The most annoying thing is if this Mr. Opeyemi was a white man, all these people on this thread looking for extraordinary proof, would've believed him without him having to do anything else. Likewise Dr. Abalaka. If Abalaka was a white man no Nigerian will doubt he have cure for aids. If this is not intellectual slavery, I don't know what is. Yes, indeed, intellectual slavery is the worst legacy of colonialism. |

mass comprehensional problem here. Seems like the formulation and nuances is confusing lots of people. Here is an excerpt from the BBC link 1.''Has a maths problem, which has gone more than 150 years without a solution, finally been solved by Nigerian academic Dr. Opeyemi Enoch? The Riemann Hypothesis was first proposed by Bernhard Riemann in 1859. 2. If it is confirmed that he is the first person to provide a solution, Dr. Enoch could scoop a million dollar prize. 3. (The interview was conducted with Dr Enoch on the basis that his solution is correct and that he has won the prize.) ............................................................................................................................................................................. 1. BBC didnt explicitly stated that the problem has been solved, its an open question, somewhat rhetoric in formulation. Its not a definitive statement. 2. observe the word ''if'', its a probability, not a comfirmed case. Dr Enoch ''could'' scoop a million dolla prize is different from Dr Enoch ''has'' scooped a million dollars. 3. This passes a notion that his work is yet to undergo mathematical scrutinization, and the only belief that he actually solved it is under an assumption that he solved it. Officially, it has not been solved. |
