Presidential Air Fleet Expenditure 2015 - Presidency by obailala(m): 11:00pm On Nov 17, 2015
The Presidency said on Tuesday that a little above N2 billion and not N6 billion has so far been expended on maintenance of the presidential fleet between May 2015 and now and that the amount include salaries and repayment of old debts.

In a statement in Abuja on Tuesday, Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant to the President (Media and Publicity expressed frustration at what he described as a fictional report that has caused the government a lot of negative reviews, especially in the online media.

Shehu said: “The government is focused on solving the many major issues our country faces in the areas of the economy, corruption and security; yet, almost every week, the Presidency has to also deal with the distractions which do nothing but distract from the task of government.”

Based on documents he said he requested from the Operational Office of the Presidential Fleet after his attention was drawn to the speculative report, the Presidential spokesperson pointed out that N2.3 billion was released to the Presidential Air Fleet by the office of the Accountant General of the Federation between May and November 2015.

According to him, this includes releases for personnel cost, overhead and capital expenditure out of the N5,190,381,386.00 appropriated for PAF in the 2015 budget.

The documents also showed that N2,127,103,086.66 had so far been expended, leaving a balance of N172,568,912.34 from the amount released.

“However, the sum of N149,062,791.12 was transferred from the PAG’s operation account to the Treasury Single Account, following the President’s recent directive,” Shehu said.

He added that the sum of N23,801,122.17 remains unutilised out of the funds so far released.

During the period from May 31, 2015 till date, the Fleet expended N1,358,910,962.75 to settle outstanding liabilities carried over from last year till May 2015.

Furthermore, N500 million was refunded to the office of the National Security Adviser for financial support rendered to the Fleet prior to the release of funds from the OAGF.

Thus, the Fleet expended N449,081,037.25 within the last months.

This is made up of N98,500,218.00 for operations, N165,373,176.91 on training and N85,500,116.75 on personnel medicals and overhead.

Additionally, N99,715,493.51 was expended on aircraft maintenance, spares and subscription services required for operations.

Shehu said further in the statement: “Any of these documents could have been made available had the newspaper reached out to me or to any one of my colleagues. The damage to the image of government and the good management of the Presidential Air Fleet could have been avoided.”

The Senior Special Assistant also put the number of aircraft in the presidential fleet at 10 and not 14 as cited by that report.

He listed the aircrafts in the inventory in the spirit of openness as transparency instituted by the Buahri administration as made up of:
1. 1× 737 BBJ
2. 1× G550
3. 1×G500
4. 2× Falcon 7X
5. 1× HS 4000
6. 2× Agusta139
7. 2× Agusta 101.

Lalasticlala and Seun, Nigerians need to know the real cost of running these aircrafts.

Lai did far worse to Nigerian image internationally in the name of opposition. GEJ and PEJ were practically clothed with the garment of shame in the name of opposition. I love when people have a taste of their own bitter medicine.

You think I will accept the 2bn lie?

Do you know how much it cost to operate a 737 flight?

The last time Buhari visited Duara and his precious cows, he took off from Abuja, stopped over at Kaduna before landing at Katsina.

An advance team of 3 helicopters was already waiting for him. He then boarded the presidential chopper to Duara with one military and police helicopters escorting him.

How much do you think all that flying will cost?

Buhari, Osinbanjo and Aisha have used the presidential fleet like cab service since they were sworn in.

It is also on record that one of the first visible orders given as head of state was to order for NGR001 to be fueled for him to go on a thank you tour to Chad and Niamey less than 48hrs of assuming power.

The fact remains that not a week goes by that the Presidential fleet is not being deployed.

Even Obasanjo rides courtesy of the Presidential fleet whenever Buhari sends him to represent nigeria.

The IDP visits by Aisha and Zahra to the NE are not by Aero but with the fleet.

Even the trip to west Germany, the US, India, Ghana and even Atiku's daughters wedding was courtesy of the fleet.

We are yet to mention Osunbade's ceremonial visits.

So if they tell you that they have not spent up to 2bn to which 75% is for offsetting debts then they are lying to your foolish brain.

Ode, a Boeing 737 cost about $8,300 per hour of flight.

How many hours has Buhari clocked on this aircraft since assuming office?

A round trip to US will cost at least $90,000 excluding flight allowances to cabin crew which is drawn from the Presidential fleet.

Factor other flights plus ground servicing and Buhari would have spent over 4 million dollars. This is just for NGR001.

The CS300 costs around $5937.91 per hour, the 737-700 costs around $7073.40 per hour, the A320 costs around $7099.0 per hour, while the Boeing 757 costs around $8,383.15 per hour.
With limited data on the dual engine widebodies, it appears that the Boeing 767 costs around $9,138.19 per hour to operate, the 777 costs around $8,383.15 per hour, and the Airbus A330 costs around $5937.91 per hour.

This attitude of APC always claiming to be cleaning the last administration debt or mess is so deceitful and sickening. Face issue for once and forget last Admin.

Government is a continuum, you are implementing the budget made by last Admin and the data given did not show that they under budgeted...in fact you were even able to mob up a big money (1.5 bn) to the TSA; not as if the last Admin looted the funds made for the maintenance of the fleet.

Secondly, the response of Shehu has validated the claim made by the original article which said estimate show about N 6bn is needed to maintain the 10 jets fleet. Of course he admitted that N 5.2 bn was budgeted and total of N 4.5bn has been spent...but from March (which the were handed over) to November N 2.3 bn has been spent.

The writer off the original article clearly stated that it was an estimated made by info available from other secondary sources, private and commercial airline operators. His massage is that presidential fleet which was between "10 & 14" should be reduced at least 6 months after PMB assumed power to reduce cost citing his campaign promises to do so or convert some to National carrier. He further made comparism with other super world powers who has just 1 or 2 planes in their fleet.

So were is the weekly distraction Shehu is talking about or is APC so much afraid of constructive criticism/ opposition?

Again Morron, i insist that u are so foolish. How dare u compare the cost of commercial airline operations to that of a PAF. Does PAF planes sounds like kabukabu for skies in ur village ?
What gives u the impression that allowances of cabin crews for commercial airlines will be the same for PAF whom are mainly drawn from Nigerian military?
Where commercial airlines pay heavily to govt agencies as running cost which in turn increases their operating cost, who do PAF pay to? Do they even know anything like that? If commercial airlines are paying a billion dollars each for ground services which in turn increases their operating cost, how much will PAF pay? Who pay those rendering the services?
Fool, i insist that u lack sense.

See this ode?

Commercial aircrafts are designed to operate on the cheap and so you will expect more fuel efficient engines.

A luxury jet like the 737 will have more sophisticated navigational system and also require higher maintainance turnaround giving the cost to soar above any commercial variant

Again you show your foolishness in your contradiction

Being commercial it is designed to be cheaper that is why the figure pasted should be higher with a luxury jet like NGR 001.

And if you must know, not all the pilots on the presidential fleet are drawn from the airforce
There are also some civilian pilots on their pay roll.

Oponu omo ale.

Commercial airlines also carry far more load than these planes, Av u considered it's effect on fuel consumption?
There are far more greater financial variants that commercial airlines are subjected to has detailed earlier than the navigational Crap u are putting up now? Na for every flight u go service navigation system? U sound really daft.
The bottom line is its plain foolish and eediotic to compare the cost of operation of commercial airlines meant for profit to a PAF. Does PAF pay tax? To who?
