1. We pilloried Jonathan's administration for
maintaining a wasteful 12-aircraft
presidential fleet (enough to constitute a
modest airline) despite the deepening
hardship and cash crunch in the country. In
response to initial misinformation from
overzealous Buhari supporters about
Buhari's decision to sell off most of the
aircraft, the administration came out and
firmly denied taking such a decision and has
continued to maintain the same presidential
fleet. This inexplicable resolve to continue
with what is universally regarded as a
symbol of executive profligacy is not
attracting any critical attention from
otherwise skeptical citizens. And I don't
want to hear the excuse that Buhari didn't
buy the aircraft, that he inherited them.

2. Staying with the aircraft theme, the new
Customs boss, Col. Hameed Ali, a key
Buhari appointee, travels around to conduct
official business in a cozy private jet, but he
is being praised as a man of action instead
of being criticized with the same vehemence
with which Mrs. Diezani Allison-Maduekwe,
former minister of petroleum, was criticized
for doing the same thing.

3. The economy is reeling from Buhari's
misguided, counterproductive, and
unsustainable policy of defending the naira
at all cost by placing primitive and
economically unsound restrictions on access
to foreign exchange. This currency control
has compounded a curious companion
policy of decreeing bans on certain imports
(both raw materials an finished goods) and
wishing that Nigeria would magically begin
producing them in spite of structural
problems like poor electricity, reliance on
imported heavy machinery, expensive
borrowing rates, a general poverty of
infrastructure, and a volatile policy
environment.
Our reaction to this
cluelessness has been either to stay silent
or to praise Buhari’s intentions, as though
his lofty intentions outweigh the real damage
that this policy is doing to various sectors of
the economy. The road to hell they say is
paved with good intentions, and we may
very well be headed to a figurative hell with
the pronouncement by the CBN that
Nigeria’s economy will enter recession next
year. We scrutinized all of Jonathan's
economic policies, taking them apart when
they did not make sense. But we seem to
have conceded to Buhari the right to make
as many mistakes as he wants even at the
cost of inflicting serious harm on the
economy at a time of low oil prices and a
resulting economic contraction. It's almost
as if we think that the old man knows best
and have suspended our critical faculties as
a result.

4. Several bomb blasts rocked the
northeastern states of Adamawa and Borno
in the course of two days, killing cores of
our citizens and puncturing our already
fragile security. It took the presidency an
entire day to acknowledge the tragedy and
offer words of comfort to a beleaguered and
traumatized nation and to the victims'
families. When Jonathan displayed similar
crass indifference to the nihilist violence of
Boko Haram and to the victims of the
carnage, we spared no outrage in criticizing
him and his team. Today, we seem to have
given Buhari's government an open-ended
benefit of the doubt on the same attitude.

5. When Jonathan failed to articulate a
coherent road map for defeating Boko
Haram, we rightly called him out on the
failure. Buhari has not clued the nation into
his grand strategy for ending the insurgency,
if one exists. Yet we have not demanded
that he communicate clearly with the nation
on this.

6. When Jonathan hired some South African
mercenaries to help drive out the insurgents
from Nigerian's towns and villages, many of
us saw that as a humiliating climb down for
our army and our country, a testament to
the failure to equip and motivate the army to
fight at their maximum ability. Then
candidate Buhari criticized Jonathan for
surrendering and violating Nigeria's
sovereignty, pride, and status as a regional
power. He said the Nigerian army was
capable, by itself, of routing the enemy if
properly equipped and motivated. Several
days ago, however, we read news, still
undenied, that the administration has done
exactly the same thing that candidate Buhari
angrily condemned. They have quietly hired
South African mercenaries to help combat
Boko Haram and to meet the December
deadline issued by the president. We are yet
to hear any serious critique of this decision
to continue with a previously criticized
Jonathan strategy.

7. When Jonathan travelled to Chad to try to
enlist the help of Idris Deby in combating
the insurgency, he was mocked for being
weak and for groveling before regional
minnows. The cantankerous Nasir el-Rufai
even suggested in a tweet that the former
president had gone to Chad to confer with
Deby on how to plan more attacks, an
outrageous nod to the conspiracy theories
circulating in the north about Jonathan's
complicity in, if not sponsorship of, Boko
Haram. Today, Buhari's most discernible
public gesture in the fight against Boko
Haram is his travel around the world and in
our region begging for foreign help and
corporation. And he seems to have invested
all his strategic permutations in the regional
force headquartered in Chad. He is, in other
words, doing what Jonathan did or tried to
do. But the reaction to his actions has been
decidedly and radically different. While
Jonathan was widely condemned, Buhari is
being praised for courting much needed
alliances for defeating Boko Haram.

8. When Jonathan appointed (and defended)
several people tainted by allegations and
revelations of corruption into his
government, we rightly expressed our
disapproval in very strident language.
Today, Buhari has appointed people plagued
by weighty and credible allegations of
corruption into his cabinet and into key roles
in his administration. Instead of dusting up
our anti-Jonathan criticism and applying it
to Buhari, we have now crafted a new
argument for rationalizing this brazen act of
self-contradiction by an anti-corruption
president. We now argue that the appointees
may have been corrupt but that, serving
under Buhari, they will not dare touch
government money. That may be so, given
the personal example of incorruptibility from
Buhari, but that does not invalidate the truth
that such appointments constitute a reward
for corruption — and a bad signal to corrupt
officials. Those who should be answering to
allegations and revelations of corruption will
instead be enjoying the prestige and aura of
high office in an administration purportedly
anchored on an anti-corruption ethos.
This list is not exhaustive. You can add to
it.

Am not an enemy of progress neither am I an enemy of Nigeria, so am only here to list achievements...

- boko haram members are running Maiduguri, Yola, Adamawa (and recently Kano) down (having killed over 4 thousand people since May 29). Same set just kidnapped over 100 soldiers, including their weapons.
- Fulani herdsmen are distroying farmlands and killing farmers with full force? Presently these useless pests kidnapped my uncle, his wife and son and were paid ransom..
- cancellation of PRESSID.
- fuel scarcity.
- hike in price of PMS.
- banning of small generators and hence crippling small scale businesses.
- the economy is already on recession.
- fuel scarcity and increase in fuel price is the order of the day.
- DSS is been used to fight perceived enemies.
- our media no longer dish out reliable news.
- the Nigerian Army is now been used to deceive gullible Nigerians and also, instead of fighting boko haram head on, they are busy issuing warnings and dishing out propagandas.
- it took the president five - six months to release his thank you/noisemakers' list in the form of ministers (having some of the most corrupt and senile politicians just like the president himself).
- no project has been commissioned.
- refinery that was due for operation in 2016 was forcefully put to operation and subsequently shut down.
- body odour generated power has declined back to it's epileptic state.
- de-marketing Nigeria to foreign investors.
- confusion everywhere as most statements released by one media aid of the president is refuted by the second aid before the day runs out.
- all campaign promises has been denied.
- the president converted Nigerian economy to a northern empire by choosing mostly northerners to head important posts and tagging the regions that didn't vote for him as 5 percent.
- crime rate has quadrupled.
- the only economic direction of the president is blames, blames and multiple blames.
- the president misses important functions and goofs at important meetings/interviews abroad.
- the president only speaks to Nigeria via BBC Hausa or via foreign media stations while only his aids speak to us via Nigerian stations.
- job losses everywhere, with job creation at it's lowest since 1984 (talk about breaking his own record).
- JP Morgan delisted Nigeria from its bond index.
- fighting perceived enemies and using judges to criminally upturn elections in opposition states.
- further deplating our researves by embarking on fruitless journeys outside Nigeria.
- running a government where some gullible Nigerians equal performance with number of snapshots pa day, as this administration has been rightfully tagged photocracy.
- first ever president to be campaigning after election by making new promises albeit denying the ones made during his presidential campaign.

Truthfully, Buhari has achieved a lot but unfortunately/sadly, the achievements were negative ones.. sad

MISDEED/FAILURE...

This is a failure because PMB has failed in his anti-corruption stance.
Under his watch, a group of corrupt elements guzzled 25billion naira within a month.
For every consultancy job, fees are always paid based on the amount involved, 1% of N2.5tr is huge in a month. No bank makes N25b profit in a month and Lagos average monthly IGR in 2014 was less than that.

The Long post below, especially the emboldened and coloured capture my thoughts on the very gaffe of president Buhari.
I don't know if this should be termed gross incompetency or gross negligence.

Either ways, Buhari has failed Nigerians in this area.

The 25 Billion Naira Fraud And Matters Arising.
HungerBAD:

Consider the mindboggling allegation of the Senate  that some contractors acting under the nebulous rubric  of facilitators for the transfer of funds to the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) under the Treasury Single Account (TSA) scheme have paid themselves N25 billion as a commission.  The government may deny that no TSA funds have been lost to some idle middlemen. But the disparate figures from the government, the Senate and the CBN do not lend credence to the position that there has been a strict adherence to the dictates of transparency in the management of the TSA. The government bristles at the suggestion by the Senate that N25 billion from the TSA  has been diverted and insisted that no kobo has been lost. But it is curious why it failed to also fault the CBN’s claim that the amount in question is N8.6 billion and that it has asked the contractors who collected the money to refund it.

If the purpose of the TSA is to save every kobo for the improvement of the citizens’ well-being, then idle middlemen would not have been needed in the first place. This is especially so since this is a job that the CBN in collaboration with the ministry of finance could have done to avoid incurring unnecessary expenses. If at the time the TSA started under the administration of former President Goodluck Jonathan, the CBN had not developed the software for the transfer of public funds domiciled in commercial banks to the CBN, why did the Buhari government not make the apex bank to accept the responsibility of introducing the software before directing the transfer of all government funds into the TSA? It is only now that a controversy has arisen over the TSA that some CBN officials are saying that they would use their own software for the funds’ transfer.

Nigerians are not deceived by the plenitude of the versions of the truth about the alleged abuse of the TSA.

So Buhari and his party may make promises about  investing in agriculture, a long term project. They may think of how to invest in education, a longer-term project. But the challenge is how he would contain the avaricious breed who bankrolled his election and who are eager for quick returns.

YouthsPC0:

This source of power has been the live wire of many business such as restaurants, Saloon/ barbing shops,  Small offices , student hostels, corner shops and millions of families across Africa's most populous nation owing to the inability of the government to provide constant power supply to its over 170 million population.

Before riding to power the ruling All progressive congress had promised to generate 5000 MW of electricity yearly which translates into  20,000 MW in 4 years however, six months into their first year In office the power situation appears to be getting worse, compounded by the scarcity  of petrol used to fire up this alternative source of power.

 http://www.pmnewsnigeria.com/2015/02/02/well-generate-20000mw-of-electricity-in-4-years-says-buhari/

The question many Nigerians are asking is why will their government choose to ban the only source of power to millions of small businesses and families when it appears clueless as to how to provide the stable electricity it promised before the elections.

The clear lack of policy direction by current government and a great affinity for taking decisions before thinking has ensured that the last six months was littered with policy reversals, somersault and sea of  conflicting information from

Except our brothers from Aba come to our rescue by  producing these generators  locally these policy might signal the beginning of the end for many entrepreneurs and small businesses

It is noteworthy that Nigeria is currently being led by a former army general who, before the elections promised to crack down on the seeming hydra headed Terrorist group.
The gusto with which he campaigned and raised the hopes of Nigerians seem to be dashed on a daily basis.
Just yesterday and two days ago, there were successive bomb blasts in Kano and Yola respectively.
http://www.thisdaylive.com/articles/after-yola-bomb-blasts-kill-15-injure-53-in-kano/226063/

Questions on the minds of well meaning Nigerians are as follows:
1. What was the current state of Boko haram before the past government handed over
2. If they were almost annihilated, what could be the reason behind their brazen resurgence?
3. During the last administration, we heard complaints of insufficient weapons as a major reason why the NA wasn't winning the war just before the run up to the elections; knowing fully well, the Buhari led FG has not so much as bought a Pin to fight the insurgence, why aren't we hearing even gorrier tales of old and woeful equipment?

Nice concept MizMyColi. Ever since the commencement of this administration, I have tried to be mute, no because I don't want to be tagged a wailer, but because I wanted to give this regime a chance. However, as an undergraduate, I can state categorically that I am disappointed in this government.

When Jonathan lost, I told my friends that one thing I pray buhari continues is the pressid. I was hoping he would continue the scholarship programme but was disappointed yesterday. Why will a government enthroned by the masses, student, suddenly becomes anti masses and off course anti-excellence? I only hope he revert this decision.
Should I say I'm disappointed? You guys are the reason buhari is losing his grassroot support. If you would notice, several neutral monikers on this forum are already anti buhari. You could deny this, but you sincerely agree .

I admit that Jonathan failed. I can give him a 39-40 E/D grade performance. However, his administration is gone. We have to move on. Nigerians voted change, and offcourse didn't want a negative one. Nigerians knew Jonathan's performance and off course changed him. The new govt however should not blame the last administration for her weaknesses.
On protest, why would I? Irrespective of the performance of any administration, I will survive.
