with the introduction of a non indigene tuition fees or out of state tuition fees to me? it's a very wise thing and i certainly commend the proponents of this idea and executors albeit not like 300% though . . . .that's killing.

but i would enjoin all states in nigeria to throw in some kind of non resident or non indigent stealth tax across the country and curb this idea of folks heading en mass to other states and pile pressure on their social services and local infrastructure, that in itself will apart bring in some revenues to government coffers and this new found revenue can be used to compliment whatever budgetary allocation for such program however token it might be.

the psychological benefits is even in measurable and this would certainly help create a good resident/non resident relationship, as the former will not look down on the later as fighting him in his turf for limited available resources without contributing nothing and the later will in turn appreciate the former in so many levels as a 'son of the soil'.

i really don't blame the guys introducing 300% come think of it, it's a far better option than randomly deporting anyone lest one be accused of internal depotation and all them constitutional nuances that wil arise from such an action . . . . . .

Although I take it as a compliment. We're two diff people from two diff states at two different location and with the same culture. Desola is cray tho, I'm nice.

if i may ask . . .whatever became of desola? years back she was a real enigma on nairaland and despite my many years of being on ghost mode, i found her to be a real class act anytime.

just to let the guys that gave birth to this thread celebrating all things yoruba know . . . . as events unfolds positvely out here, more and more yoruba folks will be incline to log off their ghost mode and contribute meaningfully to discussion in here, some threads back then was a tard too dirty to even come on board and every one and everything had something so bad to say to one another, but safe zone to be here for me and hopefully i speak on behalf of many ghost members too.

again i commend the progenitors of this thread to continue to keep it clean/tidy and we all be good, am sure we will get the occasional wolves wanting to create drama on some fast moving threads, best we continue to isolate em and continue to enjoy the well thought of opinions and ideas the yoruba are notoriously famous for in a good way . . . . . thoughts

Amen ooo Aunty.

We would have had religion crisis in Osun if not for awareness and education. The Alfas have been brainwashing their followers yet the followers have not started attacking people up till now. I believe they find it hard to attack their own people.

That is why I frowned at the strategy used by PDP and Omisore to wrestled power from Aregbesola. They called him Boko Haram and various derogatory names in his first tenure.

During the campaign, Omisore said he was going to return public schools to the missionaries who built the schools. If the schools are returned to the missionaries, non-christian students may be discouraged from attending such public schools. If that should happen(God forbid), we would have Boko Haram Terrorists in Osun and South West in general in the next 10years. Those kids must never be discouraged from attending pulic schools. They learn a lot in 12years they spend in schools.

Lord Have Mercy.

This is the list of Yoruba boys I found playing for different football academies in the UK. They're all U-18, apart from Oduwa. I purposely left out a few established ones like: Ola Aina, Dele Alli, Moses Odubajo, and Dominic Solanke.

Considering how difficult it's to get into football academies in the UK - especially when you have gone past the "schoolboy" age. These guys are talented. Coupled with the fact that, when you're not white, it's more difficult. So you have to be supremely talented and composed when you go for trials. And once you flop one chance during trials, you may not be able to get another one.

On the cancellation of the PRESSID thingy, it may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. The more federal programs are cancelled with states taking up slack, the more decentralized Nigeria would be. With less money projected to be realised from Oil, the FG is sure to cancel more programs. Lets hope that the SW sinators and reps don't fall asleep.

I dunno why Aregbe is so vehemently vilified. Yes, he is owing workers, everyone knows why. In the SW, I liken Osun state to what Ijebu-Ode is to Ogun state. Osun- State is very central and what Aregbe has done is open up it up; expect to see an increase in external investments in the state in a fear years.
I agree with you...the first tenure was a real bliss

Suffice to say, the free meal is still very much on. And like I said afore. Osun has the HIGHEST ENROLLMENT in basic school. I put this at the free meal ish.

And the road network in the state is fairly better compare to many states I've been (and I've been at many).

Whether PDP, APC, or LP et all, come 2018, we must put pressure on the party voted in to place Osun as an economic Zone...with the road infrastructures she's got, I bet and the proximity of Ikire to Ibadan, I forsee a change in fortune...

God bless the southwest,

The codeword is POLITICAL CORRECTNESS.

Why are we piling up on the governors? The inception of any democratic shift starts at the Legislature. What are our Assemblymen and women doing? Let's give the Governors some slack and put heat underneath theLegislators.

Fair point, Mayor, but the question is how?
A lot of these legislators are inaccessible and, outside of Lagos, beholden to the purse strings of their respective governors.

Thanks a lot, Sir. Coming from you, I really appreciate it. Before this post, in hindsight, I actually thought I shouldn't have gotten myself involved. However, I feel proud of myself now.

We rep the post code. The post code that made/raised me. It gave me the game/knowledge I navigate the world with and, an experience that will always be part of my reality. I spent the best periods of my life in that post code. I can move out of there but the influences will never leave me. And I'll always remain the same boy from that post code. grin

It was basically just a situation whereby, you can see someone you see as an e-brother drowning fast albeit he's too arrogant/conceited to see it, due to pride and the need to protect an inconsequential status on a faceless forum. And his holy grail would be to make a plea bargain. Then you've a black sister who's hurting emotionally/financially and, in the process, became illogical/irrational, while letting manipulators who've scores to settle with the e-brother get into her head. Thus creating a big circus/show for all kinds of people to laugh at their expense.

The grandmaster teacher told each one to teach/save one. Hence I had to intervene.

Thanks again, Sir. cool

We need to be truthful to ourselves. What is sports to a Yorubaman? Where in our history have you read about domination in sports?

Lets put things in perspective....amongst the Negro race Yoruba is far advanced in practices demanding cerebral energy than physical energy. Our physiological makeup is tailored for thoughts, observation, reflection and innovation.

Ibos are excelling in sports because its in their history and they are physically endowed for it. We need to find our comparative advantage and dominate it....in fact monopolise it for its rewards!

Yoruba is world best in Table Tennis. We have consistently dominated Table Tennis in Nigeria and Africa because its a game of calculation and strategy. If Ayo was a international tournament we'd be top rated because it fits in with our makeup - calculation and strategy! Ive been playing snooker and billiards since I was 16, at one time it was my source of income....and I find it muvh more easier to coach a Yoruba person than any other ethnic group because of the ease with which they lock in.

Heroism in Yorubaland is perfected throuvh acts of shrewdness and decoy...hiding your play hands from the opponent! Think of the range of sports that need that skillset...physical sports do not make it.

Heroism in Iboland is recognized in acts of physical bouts - wrestling! The wrestling champion is the village hero. Hence they are built naturally for physical sports and require zero thought process or calculation to win.

Lets give them what belongs to them. Lets find ours and champion it!

@bolded

First of, you asked what sports is to Yorubaman and I will simply say sports means a lot to these present generation than the past generations, then Yorubas priorities education than others(military, police, sports etcetera). Although, many Yoruba parents still holds tightly unto that archaic philosophy or traditions(this one self just started 200 years ago) of 'you must go to school' but boy Don sabi say no be only book fit bring ruch or pepe come. Or do you think Yorubas don't see Obafemi, Mikel, Adebayor and Co, we no go school but dey live large? grin

Bros, Your second question is strange to me and to those who are aware of Yoruba's exploits both in cerebral energy and physical energy sports. How soon have you forgotten that the likes of Kareem Abdul Jabber and Hakeem Olajuwon had once dominated the world in basketball, that the likes of Rasheed Yekini, Emmanuel Adebayor, Segun Odegbami, Yakubu Aiyegbeni had once dominated Africa and European football and even David Alaba is currently dominating all Africans put together in the European leagues, he was selected twice for UEFA first eleven(the regetted stone becoming the corner stone). have you forgotten so soon that Deji Ali, Deley Thompson(top 3 greatest decathlethes ever), Olusola Fasuba( the ninth fastest 100m ever), Femi Ogunode(fastest Asian 100m ever) once dominated Africa, Asia, Europe and the world at large. Time will not permit me to mention Yoruba's dominance in boxing(Areaonakakanfo and Sir Shymm3x na oga for this one) , hockey, American football, etcetera.

Are all these sports not part of physical energy sports?

Sir, permit me to humbly say that your submissions are not cogent enough to dismiss the facts on ground. I rest my case. Shalom
