Lool. What are you going to Epe for? Wanna go pay my ancestors my groom price? I'm sure you know that females pay for marriage in Epe, not men. So it's groom price lol.

Ha! Naughty girl loool. You're a bad girl. Do you know what gash is? Anyway, that was the tune I was alluding lol. Gash by the hour is Nu Brand Flex's biggest hit.
Missionary work, yeah that too lol I had no idea, that's interesting o

Of course I know what a gash is, at least I think I do harhar. That song cracks me up, all those dusty budget channel U videos were pure entertainment grin

For those interested in seeing how Aregbesola is doing

https://www.nairaland.com/2749096/aregbesola-set-commission-ejigbo-high

While there is room for improvement, its definitely a blatant lie to say these current APC govt are not doing anything

Paying salary wont bring any development

I was one of ogbeni Aregbe's greatest supporters, to begin with.
But if you ask me for an appraisal of his efforts in the area of public administration, today, it is without equivocation that I would locate him as one of the least effectual leaders in the South West. While I can cite numerous examples of what informs my current view, let me draw on two that do not focus unduly on the state's current financial crises.

(1) Osun state has made the least effort to enshrine a framework of e-government.
- Budgets are hardly ever made public.
- Policy documents are scant
In sum, fiscal transparency is none existent

(2) The implementation of Opon Imo, an initiative which has proved to be both unsustainable and unfit for purpose, was a total sham.
- While we heralded this feat with great aplomb at the time, the truth is; no comphenesive trial was ever carried out.
- Difficult questions which might have helped to address stakeholder concern were fobbed off, in search of "a first" for Osun.
- When the state's chapter of the opposition party (PDP) questioned the involvement of Kabiru Aregbesola in this scheme, a telling response (copied in below was provided by the governor)
How Kabiru rescued Opon-Imo from failure free-of-charge – Aregbesola
How Kabiru rescued Opon-Imo from failure free-of-charge – AregbesolaThere have been malicious media falsehood publications by mischieves of which the governor of the State of Osun was alleged to have awarded the popular computer tablet, Opon-imo to his son, Kabiru Aregbesola. But according to the governor, Kabiru was the only messiah that rescued the the much eulogised device from failure when the idea was conceived.

Note: Please pay close attention to the statement I highlighted and tell me your sensibilities aren't offended by the lame attempt to rationalise nepotism.

P.S - I have deliberately limited my criticism to these two examples because I think Ogbeni is beleaguered enough as it is, at the moment.

@bolded

First of, you asked what sports is to Yorubaland and I simply say sports means a lot to these present generation than the past generations, then Yorubas priorities education than others(military, police, sports etcetera). Although, many Yoruba parents still holds tightly unto that archaic philosophy or traditions(this one self just started 200 years ago) of 'you must go to school' but boy don no say no be only book fit bring ruch
Come. Or do you think Yorubas don't see Obama, Mike, Adebayo and Co we no go school but day live large? grin

Bros, Your second question is strange to me and to those who are aware of Yoruba's exploits both in cerebral energy and physical energy sports. How soon have you forgotten the likes of Kareem Abdul Jabber and Hakeem Olajuwon once dominated the world in basketball, the likes of Rasheed Yekini, Emmanuel Adelanto, Segun Odegbami, Yakubu Aiyegbeni once dominated Africa and European football and even David Alaba is currently dominating all Africans put together in the European league, he was selected twice for UEFA first eleven(the regetted stone becoming the corner stone). have you forgotten so soon that Deji Ali, Deley Thompson(top 3 greatest decathlethes ever) Olusola Fasuba( the ninth fastest 100m ever), Femi Ogunode(fastest Asian 100m ever) once dominated Africa, Asia, Europe and the world at large, time will not permit me to mention Yoruba's dominance in boxing(Areaonakakanfo and Sir Shymm3x name okay for this one) , hockey, American football, etcetera. Are all these sports not part of physical energy sports?

Sir, permit me to humble say that your submissions are not cogent enough to dismiss the facts on ground. I rest my case. Shalom
It is his observation but it is largely flawed if we look at the almost fragile make up of the white man physique and they still hold the ace in football worldwide...
Pele,Ronaldo etc cannot be categorised as being sturdy but they are some of the greatest footballers in the world...

Regarding the budget

I saw these online. Are these the items you seek or something different

http://www.ngrguardiannews.com/2015/02/osun-legislators-pass-n201-billion-2015-budget-into-law/

http://leadership.ng/news/397339/aregbesola-presents-n197bn-2015-budget-osun-assembly

http://nigeriacomputers.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/07/ICT-POLICY-FOR-STATE-OF-OSUN-FinalDraft.pdf

http://hgsf-global.org/nigeria/en/news/249-osun-state-furthers-commitment-to-hgsf

In the course of the review of the budget
estimate, the assembly adjusted it upward to
N201.74 billion, to cater for the omission of the
salaries of the middle school teachers, to the
tune of N4,43 billion.
The recurrent expenditure in the passed
budget is N90.6 billion, while the capital
expenditure stands at N111,1 billion.

I found this in one of the links, the budget isn't that bad, recurrent vs capital expenditure but he can do better.
Osun is too small to spend about 45% on recurrent expenditure

raumdeuter, these are simply articles in the press - well intentioned objectives but little more.
Now lest my intervention be misunderstood, I actually think Osun state only shades the others slightly when it comes to poor accountability.
Fashola's government of course stands apart, as posterity would show that it documented its revenue alongside various budgets - regardless of the degree to which they were implemented and no matter how extravagant they seem... smiley
Although no one else even comes close in this regard, I will give it to Ngozi-Iweala (the nation's Finance minister) for providing folks like me with a paper trail to chew on also.

Look at how befuddled we all are today about the amount of debt which acrued in recent years.
Bruv, because I think fiscal transparency aids the measurement of performance, I would never hesitate to call any public administrator to order.
If I am to be frank, it is for this very reason that I have not invested much confidence in Kemi Adeosun - the previous Finance commissioner of my home state.

if i may ask . . .whatever became of desola? years back she was a real enigma on nairaland and despite my many years of being on ghost mode, i found her to be a real class act anytime.

just to let the guys that gave birth to this thread celebrating all things yoruba know . . . . as events unfolds positvely out here, more and more yoruba folks will be incline to log off their ghost mode and contribute meaningfully to discussion in here, some threads back then was a tard too dirty to even come on board and every one and everything had something so bad to say to one another, but safe zone to be here for me and hopefully i speak on behalf of many ghost members too.

again i commend the progenitors of this thread to continue to keep it clean/tidy and we all be good, am sure we will get the occasional wolves wanting to create drama on some fast moving threads, best we continue to isolate em and continue to enjoy the well thought of opinions and ideas the yoruba are notoriously famous for in a good way . . . . . thoughts

Definitely! I'm also kinda getting tired of NL and may eventually drift off and come back.

Well, welcome back and I see that you've been contributing immensely.

Desola will soon come back. I'm expecting bluetooth to follow her trail.
