what ever decision taken by the NYSC officials or authority should be binding to every Corp member regardless of religion affiliation. I think the decision over the use of Hijab or whatever name it's called is okay hence security.
It should be worn to places like mosque, market, meetings, Islamic functions where there is no rule or law against the use of hijab.

Those ladies in long hijabs looks like monkeys, the DG is trying to transform then to humans and MURIC is complaining.deeper life members do not wear trousers but compulsory in the NYSC service year without complain,The director general of NYSC has announced a ban of the use of 'LONG' hijab in the NYSC orientation camps not the use of hijab. amend your Hijab muric director and stop barking like premature dog.

this so-called d.g should appologize to the muslim community before the wrath of Almighty Allah fall upon him & his handlers cos who ever wages war on islam, wages war on Allah...they will perish like thin air, just like those before that did same.

I am surprised that an educated man would argue like this. Can he not see the option given? The DG has said short Hijab will be allowed. That is a small compromise. If you can't comply then please do not appear anywhere near the camp.

this islamic religion of a thing is way too complicated.a person dies, they bury him within 24hrs,what if the person is killed, just bury him with the fact.why will a sane person dress like this in the name of praticing religion.as a christian if i see any in the book that my spirit doesn't agree with i drop it because there should be update for everything in life.christ came 2,000years ago to update moses law and left the holy spirit to keep us updated.lastly, christian missionaries brought education to this country and everything consigning education should be done properly.

Well, your religion is man-made one, that is why there is a lot of contradiction....unlike islam which is from our creator.

MCAN ALIGNS WITH MURIC AND NYSC TO CLAIR THE BAN OF HIJAB SAGA
It’s no news again that the Ban of Hijab published and aired by several media houses has caused tension in the country. We use this medium to inform the Umma that MCAN alongside other Islamic organisations is on the matter.
In line with this, MCAN contacted the major media houses who aired the news to withdraw the false information on air, of which most of them did (This can be verified through search engines and online platforms of the media houses). Conversely, MCAN executives also met with the Director of NYSC PR unit; Mrs Bose Aderibigbe yesterday (Thursday,26th of November, 2015 which corresponds to the 15th of Safar, 1437AH) to inform her about the havoc the media have caused in the country with the recent news of “BAN of HIJAB”. We advised NYSC to come out openly to clear the propaganda of which they agreed.
Based on this , we categorically inform the Public about the new Development we reached with the DG of NYSC that ; Muslim corps members can now use Hijab as long as the knee level and three quarter trousers which hitherto is not obtainable in the NYSC Scheme. However, NYSC pleaded that Hijab as long as the feet or ankle level should not be used in the scheme pending the time the security challenge is over. The DG has assured us that a directives will be issued to all his subordinates not to harass any Muslim who dresses in line with this directives (White Hijab as long as the knee level with three quarter trousers). This is the agreement between MCAN and NYSC as at the last time we meet with the DG (Tuesday, 24 of November, 2015 which corresponds to the 12th of Safar, 1437AH).
We equally use this medium to inform the umma that MCAN is working with all the numerous Muslim associations in the country, especially MURIC, through our highly respected Professor Akintola who has been contacted, Hence MCAN and MURIC alongside other Islamic bodies are on course in regards to the issue.
Kindly disregard all the misleading and false information from media houses. Get a first-hand information from MCAN in regards to Muslim corps members’ affairs. Once again, we enjoy all media houses to deploy investigative journalism before passing out information, as passing of wrong information can turn the country into total mess. We also use this medium to call the attention of the Ministry of Information to control the flow of unprofessional and misleading News.

Our constant romance with religion gave birth to all this unbelievable argument bout hijab. sad

infact there are churches iin Christianity that prohibits female from wearing trousers buh for 1year national service sake they slightly compromised

ii have seen soo many evil bin committed with hijab than good...

1 hijab iis used for suicide attacks
2 for expo iin exam hall
3 for hiding stolen goods at malls
4 for having s*x at night with guys
5 for impersonation
6 for smooching self n so on...

wc state in d north did u live in please, and pls wc univ denied a lady admission because she didn't agree 2 wear hijab? I graduated from UDUS and believe me u, dat over 35% of its students are southerners. UDUS have never discriminated against persons dat dnt wear hijab. Nevertheless, it does punish any student found 2 dress indecently irrespective of his/her religious affiliation. Indecent dressing in dis term include wearing mini skirts by ladies, sagging dia shirts in such a way dat almost half of dia breasts are exposed, wearing of transparent dresses and shorts dat reveals dia sensitive parts. For d boys, it include sagging dat reveals boxers nd pants, wearing unbuttoned shirts and wearing shorts 2 classes. This I'm sure many universities all over d country discourage. And finally, jst because ur friends as u claim wear hijabs jst 2 please dia parents doesn't change d fact dat its Allah's order 2 wear hijab. If a lady doesn't want 2 wear d hijab in camp is her own problem, but if she does want 2 wear, y deny her right? Its very simple
Which right are you talking about? Right to wear hijab? Receive sense ok. You think other Religions do not have Rules?

May thunder fire anyone clamouring for hijabs to be allowed on camps.

They are saying dressing like britain is not part of their religion. Let me ask all of you modafuckaz, is western or formal education part of your religion?

Last time i checked, your type of education is that which you sit on the floor, legs crossed, writing on a plank of wood while reciting your qoran.

Even though I support women with hijab 100%. There are times we MUST compromise.

Looking at the security situation. You might not know who is who or what is underneath that hijab.

So I agree 100%. Use of long hijab should be banned (ONLY until the security situation is better).

But this does not mean muslim ladies should abandon covering their hair/body.. they should employ other means.

You see,all this insecurity issue are false flag propaganda...go and research about 'false flag' & 'propaganda'

It is positions like that make me wonder whether true to their utterances, terrorists are really backed up by Islam.

Majority of the terrorists have hidden under these garments-knowing the dignity previously associated with it-to kill innocent people like chickens!

The move to ban these garments is more of a security move and have nothing to do with culture!

Can we collectively support the call about not wearing these garments in NYSC camps, leaving religious and culture sentiments aside? If it happens in a camp today, God forbid, the same folks will be

The NYSC for sometime had always placed the use or abuse of Hijab within camps at the discretion of the camp commandants; finally they have chosen to take a stand on this issue!!

Let me first say to those against this ban that what was banned was the use of long hijab and the reason is actually to respect female muslims!! You are very much allowed to use hijab provided it is not long; at least to cover your neck and upper body!!

Infact, in some places like borno, yobe etc where boko haram hostilities are rampant, its not even debated and I am talking about open society and not even NYSC camp; if you approach a check point with a long hijab, as from 50metres to the check point you are required to raise the hijab up totally for scrutiny as you approach! You will carry that hijab till you reach the checkpoint and till after you pass. Don't do it and you risk getting yourself shot!!

The reason is simple, long hijab has been used on many occasions to hide/smuggle ammunition; even suicide bombers - male and female - have taken to using long hijab for effective boko haram missions. You see even elderly women that you will call matured and ageing with grace will load AK-47 inside hijab to go and deliver somewhere; so the problem of where to draw the line on hijab in this country has been going on for quite sometime!!

In saudi-arabia, particularly I am aware that they had to start recruiting female policewomen and security personnel at airports - something that is awkward/difficult to accept in islamic nations - just to deal with security checks around the hijabs as they too have received suicide bomb attacks as a result of the abuse of hijab!!

Now let us reason together, considering the security challenges in Nigeria now and the stain that Boko haram, isis and other radical groups are bringing to islam in Nigeria and beyond; isn't it more appropriate for a woman even in islam to be moderately dressed and then use a short hijab to cover her bossom/upper body than for you to use a long hijab and then a man that you have never known who isn't your husband to now ask you to raise that hijab because of security concerns caused by people who in the name of the same islam that you profess to practice, kill innocent people - men, women and children??

Don't you think your obedience to the law, with respect to the security concerns, will be counted as evidence that you are infact different from these radicalised lslamists - e.g Boko haram - and that infact you don't just call islam a religion of peace/orderliness but you actually live a life of peace??

I once had an experience, during my NYSC in the North, where some young girls providing services at maami market within the camp were using Hijab to steal food flasks belong to some female corpers!! I had to prevail upon the owners of the coolers to restrain themselves because they had already started to mobilise a lynch; if not for the security personnel around us that noticed the crowd and took charge!!

Subsequently long hijab was outlawed in that camp; but some ladies still rebelled! They ended up just making themselves suspects and then further restriction where placed to checkmate their stubbornness e.g. No wearing of knapsack, the mosque had to be moved to vantage point where everybody could easily see muslims pray, most of the ladies claimed marriage as an excused for using hijab, many of them were sent out of camp, platoon officers were asked to ensure that greater preference be given to the emergence of platoon leaders who were non-muslim/radicalised muslims because when muslim leaders within the camp were appraoched on this hijab stuff, all of them chose to rebel so they became suspect!!

And when you consider that the former NYSC camp ground in the state I served - which has been abandoned in favour of a newer/more secure camp ground - has been run over by Boko haram a couple of times then you will understand that their concerns were justifiable!!

Let me also say, secondly to those who are in favour of the ban; that a christian adage goes thus; "train up a child in the way that he should go and when he is old, he shall not depart from it"!!

This rings true most especially when religious beliefs come into play; it is expected that someone who has been raised from childhood based on principles central to their Spiritual belief/way of life will definitely find a hard time accepting an immediate departure of what they would regard as their sacred norm.

Or even those who have received inspiration to wear such attire as a way to please God; suddenly having to obey such directives from NYSC will raise conflicts that will war within the very mind and soul!!

The best we can do, as much as possible; is to exercise some measure of understanding even as we continue to enlighten them on the reason why this law may have been raised in their own interest and for their own protection!!! U can never tell; as things progress insha allah, the current security situation can improve to a point where such laws are deemed obsolete and are done away with; prayers for our soldiers on the battle field fighting boko haram as well as Mr President and security chiefs can also help!!

Islamophobia is not a Nigerian culture; there exist 5 pillars in Islam - correct me if I am wrong - and nowhere in Nigeria is any muslim hindered either by law or social creed to uphold these pillars!! So raising an argument of Islamophobia doesn't count in my opinion!!!

I don't think long hijabs should be allowed. If everyone looks at this matter objectively, both sides have good points. However, I cannot risk my life or that of my children because I want to respect someone else's religious practices. If they are allowed to wear hijab, some terrorists would use this medium to sneak in and KABOOM! Everyone is dead, even those in hijab would not be safe too. 1. Wear hijabs, short ones preferably.

2. Your face should show at least. This only makes sense.

3. This NYSC should be optional. May sound stupid but yea... Optional.

4. Beef up security around camps. Just makes sense

5. Respect people's religions
