The pro-Biafra protests are not abating; and, for the first time, reached Abuja last week when Kanu the Director of Radio Biafra, was brought before the magistrate’s court. The protests may be fuelled by yet to be identified financiers, but those fanning the embers of secession are youths who have abandoned their various vocations to participate in the protests. Some are doing so for genuine, if misguided reasons. Some, not so genuine. Some might not even be of Igbo origin. But all are unhappy and discontented with their lives and have inadvertently become willing pawns in a complex chess game.

After a period of studied but loud silence, the Igbo elders have come out to condemn the protests and by extension, the agitation for Biafra, by listing the many hurdles that await the realisation of Biafra. I don’t think they have gone far enough. The protesting youths need to be educated on the inevitability of war should they continue on this path. And should Radio Biafra continue to denigrate and insult every other tribe in Nigeria, the protesters are going to have many hostile neighbours.

They also need to be made aware of the realistic and pragmatic gains and losses of their actions both in the shorter and longer terms. No divorce, either of marriages or business partnerships or countries is without scars and casualties. The resultant ‘freedom’ is often not worth it.And speaking of marriages, our parents were not any happier in their unions than we are. Yet they largely stuck with them, learnt mutual respect in the process and gave us stable homes in which to develop.

There is no evidence that our lack of tolerance which has led to higher divorce rates has made us happier as individuals and as a society. The UK comprises of four distinct nations. They have been pushing and pulling themselves for as long as I can remember. They are often privately disdainful of one another. But they realise in their wisdom, that the components cannot be better or greater than the whole. So it is with Nigeria. The recent history of the Soviet Union, Sudan and other countries that have had to balkanise themselves because of unresolved internal contradictions are there for all to learn from.

Let us assume today, that Kanu, Nwazuruike and their army of young Turks succeed in their wish to have Biafra. Would it all be gloom and doom for the rest of the country? I think not. Yes, the country would lose a valuable and vital piece of the tripod that had sustained the country. It would probably lose that section of the country that is most disposed to entrepreneurship in commerce and industry. It would also no longer be able to bask in the glory of their contributions in the diaspora.

But it is not as if the crown jewel has been taken away and the rest of us are ordinary stones or mere shafts as the radio Biafra propaganda wants people to believe. The vast in-road they have made in trade and commerce all over the country is because their host ‘nations’ have been accommodating and have provided a level playing field. This, of course would stop. In any case, it has hardly been reciprocated in Igbo land. The Igbos for all the noise, don’t believe in inclusiveness.

Lol. Of course we have always been nothing to you guys. Just here your statement. We have been accommodating to you and have given you a level playing ground that was why you guys excelled in business and commerce! I hope foreigners are reading this. Doesn't it sound ridiculous that you boast of giving your supposed fellow compatriots a level playing ground and even 'accommodated' them in the same country? Chai! Did you give them free houses and lands to carry out their businesses? Did you at any point in history feed and cloth them? Why then do you speak as though you have done them a favour in a country they are meant to call theirs? When we get our biafra and you spew all those things you spewed there, then we can believe you're hospitable. Ndigbo have never said you guys can't live or survive on your own. Even the worst of humans still survive on their own before any intrusion from outsiders. All we want is to be able to control our future which this evil Nigeria has decided to destroy. You did mention the UK and her constituent parts. I believe you know the system of government they are using at present. Even at that they still granted the Scots a referendum to actualize their quest for a separate country if it was indeed a popular belief. The result proved otherwise. We the young ones of biafra have a similar call today requesting for the release of Nnamdi Kanu and conduction of referendum to test if our biafran agitation is popular. Why are you guys scared to death by that simple request? Its either we're of a very special value to you or you're just plain wicked.

Another ridiculous quote from a typical Nigerian. You claimed not to know the financiers but then became a God who searched the hearts to know why the youths are doing it. If you so sure that it's only a trade for misguided youth that are pushing for Biafra, then put the Biafra issue in a referendum and let's see how right you are with your theory.

After a period of studied but loud silence, the Igbo elders have come out to condemn the protests and by extension, the agitation for Biafra, by listing the many hurdles that await the realisation of Biafra. I don’t think they have gone far enough.
Who are these Igbo leaders? Ohaneze social club or professional politicians? Leaders that cannot spent a night in their villages without army and police protection because they are afraid of their own people? If you want to see the real Igbo leaders, kindly attend any Igbo town union meeting for community development, there you will meet the real, genuine and respected Igbo community leaders, not Abuja based hungry political jobbers who are more afraid of Biafra than Nigerians.

The protesting youths need to be educated on the inevitability of war should they continue on this path. And should Radio Biafra continue to denigrate and insult every other tribe in Nigeria, the protesters are going to have many hostile neighbours.
Why do they have to associate independent to a fight or war? The war between Nigeria and Biafra wasn't because of the secession, it was more than that. How much war did Nigeria fight against the British to gain their freedom? As we speak, no armoured tanks in Catalonia by Spanish army. Scottish people recently by a small majority to remain in the Union, not by force, intimidation, blackmail or threatened with treason charges.
Another baseless claim. There are millions of amicable marriage and business partnership break ups every year. When you cherry pick to suit your myopic reasoning that is what happened. Tell me how the Czech and Slovakia broke up, Bangladesh and Pakistan? Because you treat your own wife like sh#t and she remained with you or your father treated your mother as slave rather than an appreciated partner, you should use the same ruler to measure every other marriages.

The UK comprises of four distinct nations. They have been pushing and pulling themselves for as long as I can remember. They are often privately disdainful of one another. The recent history of the Soviet Union, Sudan and other countries that have had to balkanise themselves because of unresolved internal contradictions are there for all to learn from.
I have lived in Britain for over 40 years and married to a Scottish woman all those years but never have I heard an English person telling my wife that she should be grateful for being allowed to live in any other part of the UK, her own country, or ever been called a non indigenous person in her own country. Wales of only less than 2 million people has their own government that can decide every aspect of their lives except monetary policy, immigration, defence and foreign policy but Igboland of over 40 million people is begging for a new bridge for 40 years now because everything is controlled by Abuja or Lagos before that. Not a single emerged 15 republics out of Soviet Union that will be willing to go back to the Soviet Union arrangement except the Russians for obvious reasons, dominating others. South Sudan despite their current internal problem will never dream of going back to Sudan. So your example are idiotic. United Kingdom with almost 500 years of union saw the need in 1999 to create a devolved government for Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland or the Union will disappear altogether. Yet Biafrans are constantly told that they shall be grateful to a so called host communities. How can one be a guest in his own country? Where on earth has a person been deported inside his own country as done by Fashola under the watchful eyes of Goodluck Jonathan? Yet that pain on your neck cannot equally be allowed to go?

So what is this about crown and jewels? Any one can exist on it's own. Every time I heard this words of accommodating and non accormodating I asked why the highest concentration of Ghanaians lived in Igboland than any other parts of Nigeria when Ghanaians are in huge number in Nigeria especially in Aba, Onitsha and Nnewi if Ndigbo are not accommodating?
All the popular Ghana bands in the 70s and 80s were all based in Aba and Onitsha and records with Rogers All Stars Records in Awka.
Should you blame Ndigbo for choosing to remain in your villages? If you choose to live in Igboland can you compete with a small piece of land selling for millions because no one is that desperate to sell his land? While your is for the highest bidder in Lagos, Abuja. Sabongari was an abandoned area in Kano until Ndigbo made it viable place to live.

If you want to trade in Onitsha, Aba or Nnewi can you afford a square metre space that goes for millions for sale or thousands monthly for rent?
Can you cope to travel all the way to Kano, Lagos or Abuja risking your cash to robbers just to catch a flight abroad when you live in Igboland?
How can you cope having to import your goods into Lagos and then the risk of transportation of the goods to bad roads, accidents, robbers and robbers in uniforms because there is no alternative in Onitsha through the River Niger and the Ports in Port Harcourt was deliberately ran down and almost non functioning? That's what it takes to live in Igboland inside the Nigeria Union.

This is the reasons most Nigerians do not live in Igboland in their large numbers as Igbo does in other parts of Nigeria. Except for those non Igbos doing menial jobs and trade.
If Onitsha port is developed, Enugu and Owerri airport we built by our selves effort are brought to the 21st century, important government ministries are sited in Igboland and foreign missions are encouraged to to set up consulates in Enugu and Owerri, the number of Biafrans all over other parts of Nigeria will halved in a twinkle of an eye.
There are more Igbos in Cameroon than Igbos in the entire northern Nigeria. There more Igbos in Gabon, Ivory coast than Igbos in entire Yorubaland. There are more Igbos in Equatorial guinea than Igbos in Urhrobo and Itshekiri put together.

These are fact uninformed Nigerians do not realize when they ask us to be appreciative of living in any part of our supposed country they killed us in million to be part of or go back to your land.
