InterloperX5:Thank you, oh!! I keep saying we have not scratched the surface of the huge potentials that exist in our waterways, and what we can achieve on different fronts, if we choose to focus on generating wealth and logistics solutions, using our water channels. Take little Dover in the UK. Do you know how much they earn from those who use the waterways in their district? If there was a large ferry conveying cars from Lagos to Ondo, that could do the journey safely & efficiently in under 3 hours, what am I looking for on the road?? When Ozumba Mbadiwe Avenue was being reconstructed by LCC in 2006-2008, it used to take about 2 hours to get through the gridlock from Lekki to V/I, before anyone could move on towards Ikoyi area. I often escaped from the madness by taking a 15-minute speedboat ride from Tarzan jetty at the Maroko end of V/I, to Queen's drive in Ikoyi. I usually got to work ahead of my peers, refreshed and relaxed, ready to take on my daily assignments. ![]() My colleagues living in that axis who took the option of going by road, always arrived in the office exhausted, grumpy and irritable after battling through the traffic. ![]() |

nduchucks:my brother, u dont av to run o. I agree wif u on dt; in fact dt was my thought last night before drifting 2sleep. we can only make d difference in our own small ways by nt towing d same line wif'em. Y I personally blame dem @ x is as a result of their pretence&theater roles to d public mostly afta a failure. we all knw dt where there is a will, there's always a way; they hardly try is d problem here. if they do&it is evident, they wldnt be blamed so much when failures eventually occur. this is a waking call to us to assess &as much as possible rid ourselves of wateva vices we may possess nw before attaining (public) heights wen it will all escalate. sori 4 nt being concise |

razid:Holy Sh1t !!!! I am fvcking excited. I pray this project comes to fruition as soon as possible. This are the kind of stuffs we expect from our traditional rulers. Few months ago, through the influence of Emir Sanusi of Kano and Aliko Dangote, some members of the Blackstone Group, a leading multinational asset management, banking, investment & advisory firm, paid a visit to President Buhari in Abuja with the intention of bringing some FDI's to Nigeria. Our Yoruba traditional rulers should also use their influence and connection to push for both local and foreign direct investments in their various domain. I am happy with what Ooni is about to do and i hope other Yoruba Oba's emulate him. |

ShymmeXS:Bros, I think Lagos state shouldn't be blamed for luring investors to increase the IGR of the state. After all, these investors initially showed interest in Ogun/Ondo axis but the leaders of both States didn't somehow key into it. This is due to lack of foresight, innovation and free will to move their states to greater height. Shikena! |

forgiveness:Reason why most investors are attracted to Lagos is because of the sea port and is importing and exporting axis of the country... If they implements CONfab reports... And Ogun state and Ondo state is able to pull their resources together to build there sea ports and river ports... I'm sure they will give Lag a good run especially Ogun state who's already most industrialise state in Nigeria.. |

| Re: Yoruba Commonwealth and Politics by forgiveness: 3:33pm On Nov 30, 2015 |
Classicool:I think Ondo state has the longest coast in Nigeria and also has more crude oil and natural gas than Lagos. That's is also enough to attract investors to Ondo/Ogun axis. So, I still don't understand why they have to build another sea port in Lagos. Confab report to be implemented! Well, let's keep our fingers crossed until then. |

A FEW YEARS AGO... It is always wonderful to hear news of Nigerians doing great things in the diaspora. That is why we are very proud of Olu Onemola, a Nigerian graduate at the Lehman College, the City University of New York (CUNY), United States of America who received seven awards at the university’s 2012 graduation ceremony. He received the awards during the graduation ceremony held on Saturday in New York. Olu is the son of Bukun-olu Onemola, Nigeria’s Deputy Ambassador at the United Nations in New York. Olu studied Polititical Science at Lehman and received the distinguished “Golden Key’’ award, otherwise referred to as International Honour Society which is an academic honour society for high-achieving scholars. Other awards are the Pi Sigma Alpha, National Honour Society in Political Science , and The Jacob Hammer Memorial Prize in English which is awarded to a student leading in theatre performance. He also won the Edgar Dawson Prize in Political and Legal Theory which is an award to the outstanding Political Science graduate with the strongest portfolio of political and legal essays. Onemola also received the CUNY Vice-Chancellor’s Excellence in Leadership Award, and the Cum Laude Award . This is a Latin term that signifies “With Honours”, a distinction bestowed on graduates that fall within a 3.4 to a 3.59 GPA on a four-point scale. Speaking on the awards, the elated Onemola said they had inspired him to continue to thrive in all his endeavours, regardless of any obstacles that might stand on his way. “My impression is that hard work definitely pays off. Being able to achieve such feats, while serving as the President of the Student Government, is a testament to hard work,’’ he said. Well done Olu. |

eku asiko yi of, eyin omo oodua rere I av been monitoring dis great thread for a while now without commenting. kudos to the people who created the thread. has anyone noticed that a large majority of lawyers and learned legal practitioners in Nigeria are yoruba. A glance into all the election tribunal victories will corroborate this. Our learned legal practitioners have won even the almost impossible cases with their brilliance and intelligence. rather than beating our chests, we yorubas have been able to excel in all endeavors and sectors. It beats my imagination why some Igbos will be comparing their relatively unpopular selves to the yorubas. yiyo ekun, tojo ko ile yoruba koni baje o |

modath:However, are those trips necessary especially when the country is burning and there are loss of lives due to terrorism and national security? The VP can always attend such meetings. Also, what's the essence of placing the commonwealth jamboree over national security? The whole commonwealth nonsense is basically just an effigy to celebrate the ghost of the imperial British Empire and its conquered territories, just as the flags of those conquered countries are all over Buckingham palace. What does Nigeria even benefit from being a commonwealth country cos the last I checked the UK treats Nigerians the same way it treats folks from countries that aren't part of the commonwealth and the UK definitely has no money to invest in Nigeria. The country is also looking for investments in China and Russia. The Iran trip could've been postponed. Yes, Iran is an oil producing country but of what economic benefit is an Iran that's trying to get back-breaking western sanctions off its back to Nigeria? The same Iran is trying to get help from the Russians and Chinese. None of these trips mean nothing without adequate security, a thriving economy, and a stable country. The old man is just wasting his time. Then again the average African leader is a m0ron, hence western countries treat African countries/leaders like babies they need to help change diapers from time to time. |
