Nice one at OP. Now you do not have a job, it doesnt mean one should be jobless in all ramification. In your period of waiting for job, make sure you are doing something that is of added value. This is a question your potential employer could ask "what have you been doing in the period you were unemployed?"
That's spot on bro!!! I av undying interest in learning all sort of programming language though I studied chemistry... I just passed out of NYSC last two weeks... I don't av a job yet and an not depressed at all. Why?? Once I open that PC... I learn new things and am confident that my hustle must pay soon. God bless all unemployed and underemployed.

is not all about getting a job.
when praying ask God to give u a good job, in my own case am employed but i feel more depressed than someone who isnt working... imagine u being employed as an accountant then made to be a sales assistant from there to being a full time marketer with target set. Sometimes i feel like quitting; going to work every morning with a burdened filled heart not only that, asking me to start coming to a new branch very far from my house without prior notice or additional pay to work as a marketer which i never imagined of. But what can i do?
We are virtually in similar situation, low pay and big expectations from employers with spiteful words all the time, but my joy is that all things works out together for good to them that love God and are the called according to his purpose. Never let the situation weigh you down dear, you are not in it alone and it's gonna form part of the story you tell your kids in future to motivate them. Just keep gathering the experience and be on the lookout for new opportunities and stay positive. Most importantly, have a grateful heart, because it will ease off all the stress supernaturally. We will move to the next level soon if we endure faithfully to the end of this stage. Stay blessed.

I have sent Cvs. I have gone to submit Cvs but nothing seems to be going through. with the way things are going I would not want to wait until after my service year before hunting for jobs.

You think life is a bed of roses abi?

You haven't seen, heard or imagined scenerios where a sponsor suddenly goes bankrupt, loses job or dies. In that case how can one then survive without having a means of livelihood or a learnt skill?

Reading the responses to this thread, it's really disheartening what people are going through in this business of job seeking.

As I write this, I consider it a message to myself and also to fellow job seekers on Nairaland.

I can't count how many times I check my inbox and spam in day, and think - "why have I not been contacted?" - "when will they contact me?" and other related questions. I know many are like me, with this same behaviour and thoughts, but my advice today is don't think yourself into depression. It's definitely not a good place to be.

Let me make this short, To avoid depression and frustration in this job seeking business, engage your mind on a daily basis, learning something new, whether it's a skill or an online course.

Read, dear job seeker, you have to read, read books that keep your mind alive and gets you thinking, I am not talking about motivational books here, unless it's what you fancy, but read, it's a must.

Lastly, refresh your skills and knowledge daily, whether it's writing, communication, leadership, any skill you have, Please do refresh these skills and always put them out there.

PS: Nowadays, employers call for aptitude test first so you might want to pick up GMAT and get accustomed to it. I recently attended an aptitude test and the numerical reasoning part gave me headaches, I studied political science so it's been a long time since I solved ratios, percentages and all.

Feel free to add your experience and tips to what I already stated.
Thanks For Reading.

You did well my bro. Thank you so much and God bless you.

Just a little addition my dear readers; "It is not of him that willeth nor of him that runneth, but of God that shows mercy". Neither is the race to the swift nor the battle to the strong......
