Those rates are unsustainable. No body will tell them to raise it. Our economy has not reached the level where rates would be this low. Sanusi tried it and no one told him to reverse it.

If we want a reduction in unemployment and returns that are higher than 10%, i think real sector is the place to be for those who have the knowledge, temperament, experience and fund.

Lolzzz... Bros thats not entirely true. We invest in other instruments like bankers acceptance, commercial papers which an individual may not be able to access. The T.bills rate dipped since September, 2015. And yet, the yield on money market fund is doing far better.

Actually the yield is not guaranteed. The fund goes with a floating rate and that gives our clients the advantage of earning when the fund does very well. It has done close to 14% before now, and the least it has performed since inception is 10%. So my advise is invest in the money market fund and watch it for a month.

The yield went below 10% in 2013. Plus, economic conditions have changed. if the TB rates stay this low, then it follows that the yield on the MMF will fall. What is the plan of ARM to post double digit yields?

Dear Valued Customer,

STATE OF THE MARKETS

Greetings from your investment management team at FBN Capital Asset Management.

Over the last 8 weeks, from 23 September, you may have noticed that market interest rates, in this case measured by Treasury Bills, FGN Bonds and bank tenured deposits have declined considerably. For example when the fixed income markets closed yesterday 24 November, a 364 day Treasury Bills yield to maturity had declined from about 15% to about 7%, the yield to maturity on long-dated bonds, e.g. the FGN 2024 from 15% to 11% and bank tenured deposits from about 13% to about 5%. These are a selection of fixed income instruments our mutual funds invest in to deliver on the investment objective of each respective fund. The Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) at the conclusion of its meeting yesterday 24 November, 2015 has now also reduced the Monetary Policy Rate (MPR) from 13% to 11% signaling its desire to keep rates low and stimulate the economy. The equity market has fared no better haven fallen 20.37% year to date.

The consequence of all these is that as the pool of fixed income investments in each portfolio matures and we get new inflows into the funds, we invest and reinvest at these lower market rates which impact the returns on the fund. As you have entrusted us with investing your savings in our mutual funds, please be rest assured that we at FBN Capital Asset Management remain unflinchingly committed to delivering competitive returns to you and we will continue to use our skills and in-house expertise to source for and invest in assets for each fund that deliver returns above market expectations and grow your savings and wealth.

Please look out for the next factsheet of each product, delivered to your inbox in the first week of next month which will give you more information of market conditions and returns on each fund.

Once again, we thank you for choosing FBN Capital Asset Management and our products.

Yours sincerely,

Michael Oyebola

Managing Director / Chief Investment Officer

Thanks for pointing that out, sincerely apologize. Missed it up. Buh from the historical data you can see the fund has improved over the years. Our priority at ARM is to seek out maximum wealth creation opportunities that exists in the market for our clients that entrust us with their resources. And my advise for anyone not sure of what to do at this moment is; invest in the money market, reason being that its not attached to any tenure and you watch how things unfold. Since the yield at this point is still decent compared to T.bills and fixed deposit.

Please ignore any typo error.

Bros, seems you didn't get me right. The only reason I got into this discussion was because of mekaboy's intention of doing the 91days T.bills at the rate of 5.61%. And I don't think I offered him a bad alternative of a Money market fund investment with 11.55% 7days rolling rate of the fund as of today. And even the real business your proposing, banks are more skeptical because of the high credit risk. Banks are still more comfortable with the 5.61% that is certain, than lending to the real sector.

I will need to look into your statement... How long did you stay in the fund? Cos the last quarter payout was 12.45%

Yes... However, the rate varies daily. As of today the rate is 11.55%. The fund is not tied to a tenure and your capital is preserved. So if it eventually goes below your expectation. You can always redeem your investment.

My t-bills will mature mid-january next year. Since the rates are dropping, will like to try the ARM money market, never heard of it though, will like to have more details on how it works and how reliable is it?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by Damolux01(m): 11:19am On Dec 05, 2015
Can someone into ARM here give needed details about it? Since TB is terribly dropping, ARM would be perfect for now. How do they work? Can I do it with FBN or which Banks are into it?
Re: Treasury Bills In Nigeria by moshino(m): 4:15pm On Dec 07, 2015
