You mean the one in APC?I'd rather she persuades PMB to complete the Okija-ukpor federal road/bridge that has also been abandoned since inception of APC gov't.

Just listened to abs news. I'm not comfortable with Obiano's statement about the Onitsha unrest. He blamed the peaceful protesters for allowing hoodlums to highjack the situation and caused mayhem but he didn't condemn the unprofessional action of the security personnel. Why won't he condemn the shooting to kill unarmed protesters? I guess those who were hit by stray bullets were also hoodlums? Are there still human right advocates in this country? No agency or NGO has come out to condemn the shooting to kill of unarmed civilians by blood-thirsty military. Why is everyone keeping quiet? Has everyone suddenly become dumb?

Does this means that whenever there is civil unrest in the country, the government should kill all those involved in the unrest? Why are people seeing these actions as if it's normal?

Is the governor afraid to speak the truth? With all due respect, I don't think he had shown sincerity in his statement.

Redcap it seems you are not up to date. She has left APC long since and has decamped to APGA and currently the Speaker of Anambra state. In fact, that road you were referring to initially was awarded as a compensation for leaving APC. Obiano needs to supply the funds to complete that road.

Eastern Gov need to focus on two areas of development.

Building Markets and lock up shops alongside mechanised Agriculture

Building facing dual carriage roads should be businesses.

ObyEzeks tarred the road in front of her father's house ie. from Ugwu ekwensu to Nkwo. That road was poorly done. The one from Afor Ukpor to Umunuko via Umuohama was awarded by Peter Obi in order to compensate the now Speaker of Anambra state, Hon. Rita Maduagwu for decamping from APC to APGA. The one from Okija to Afor Ukpor was attracted by Hon. CID Maduabum.

I think that this biafran thing has turned enigmatic and that is a fact . you might choose to believe or play the ostrich and the sand but the way it seems ....this biafran has defiled all odds

Odds come in varying degree but I will choose the basic degree which this Biafra has come to puncture the unpicturesque theories

The first is that they said that Igbo are not united and Biafra is dead ..even on the arrival of the second coming and the ingloruious lock of Daniel or do I say nnamdi KANU. With the lock up of nnamdi this has seen the biafran touch getting lighter so this has come to show the level of organisation in the ipob. Take this or leave it...it takes a high degree of crowd management to galvanise millions of people to protest in cities accros the world . mind you these people are Republican in nature so you will and you have to understand the organisational skills here . if you don't admire it....I do

Now another thing is that the pundits has opined that Biafra is an urchin thing and it is a project of the youths . with the veterans involved and other oldies of the old Biafra . another theories of the proponent has been punctured and this is done effectively while the international community is observing keenly .

They also said that south south isnt in the picture bitbwe have seen Biafra protest in asaba and port Harcourt... Maybe these cities are not south south.

One thing is that I am not a biafran apologist but will never go against my people . been a full blooded Igbo , I think that the government should have a referendum . this is a gentle man approach to things like this ..but itbis unfortunate that the black man will always be savage and barbaric by assuming that all is well and use arms . the last Biafra they called it a simple police action but it was a full scale conventional war with collisal damage on both sides . so why don't we learn especially from history

Call the igbos and ask them how do we go about Biafra ? The way UK did in Ireland ..the way Spain is doing in Catalonia. We prefer the Kurds and Turkey way . we can show the world that black man has evolved . we have to show the world that we can dialogue . but it is unfortunate that the dudes in saddle is junketeering while the home burns

What a pity ....happy Christmas in advance

I have no reason to protest or support my people in this cause. Am a very comfortable man but got out of my comfort zone immediately I noticed that many igbos aren't happy with the State of things. Today am happy to be part of the struggle. Am more than willing to die in the process. My people MUST smile in the end

The FG is already owing Anambra more than N25 billion for work approved on old Enugu road and from bridgehead to toll gate in Onitsha. Have they paid it? They have not and will not under Buhari.

So Obiano should do standard bridges in his state if he can afford it. Even if he did something shoddy so that the cost will be low, Buhari won't reimburse him still.

Group to Revive Eastern Region Economy

05 Dec 2015

By Emmanuel Ugwu in Umuahia

As the current economic crunch bites harder, a campaign has intensified for the states in the South-east and parts of South-South zones to revive the economic bloc of the defunct Eastern region in order to boost their present and future economic well-being.

The advocates of this survival strategy strongly believe that the 10 states located within the economic bloc collectively possess the ingredients needed to build a strong and flourishing economy that would unleash quantum economic dividends in the zones. The states envisaged in the economic bloc are Abia, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, Bayelsa, Cross River, Delta, Ebonyi, Enugu, Imo and Rivers.

To prod the governments and entrepreneurs from the zones to start thinking and directing investments and policies towards the formation of the economic bloc, a social cultural organisation, Aka Ikenga organised a two-day Integrated Economic Summit at the commercial city of Aba.

President General of Aka Ikenga, Chief Goddy Uwazurike said the old Eastern Region used to hold the initiative in economic activities but somewhere along the line the initiative was lost to Lagos and later the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja as big businesses started relocating outside the east.

“We must restore our economic glory. We must restore the confidence in our business acumen,” he said, adding that the scourge of unemployment among the youths in the economic zone would be effectively tackled if the economic bloc was rebuilt.

He said that the economic zone of Eastern region had what it takes “to embark on this mission”, citing the diverse talents, including manufacturers, traders, and professional that provide various services.

However Chief Uwazurike pointed out the success of reviving the economic zone would depend largely on the rehabilitation of the dilapidated road infrastructure, adequate and constant power supply, easy access to finance, abolition of multiple taxes, adequate security, among others.

Chairman of the event, Chief Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu lamented that entrepreneurs from South East have continued to direct their investments outside their zone to the detriment of the economic survival of the zone.

He attributed the high rate of unemployment in the Southeast to the investment behaviour of the Igbo entrepreneurs , saying that profit should not be the major underlying factor in the location of industries, adding that they should start thinking home in their investment decisions.

He said: “I am appealing to Igbo entrepreneurs, let them bring only about 25 per cent of their investments here (Southeast); If they can do that our people would have jobs. If all of them can employ at least 10 persons, you can imagine the number of jobs that will be created".

The politician cum businessman advised Ndigbo investors that the legacy they would live behind when they die is the number of lives they touched and not the amount of money they amassed hence they should start directing their investments to benefit their people. If our people in other places begin to think along the lines of this initiative then we have redeemed our years of silliness.

I don't know if Calabar port is working, but at least, those into importation can route through ONNE port and have their head office in PH, Aba, Enugu, onitsha or Uyo. Those into manufacturing can route through ONNE port and have their corporate headquarters anywhere in the zone. if our people begin to relocate into the zone, more international flights will land in both Enugu and port harcourt due to increased volume of business. Eventually more Intl. airports in the zone will begin functioning by having enough passengers to sustain operations if our people use facilities their zone.

If Akwa Ibom Ibaka port is functional, they can also begin to use it. In time, our people will have been able to relocate their businesses to the safety of their region.

The sad thing is that none of our people like to think sensibly nor act proactively unless it is already too late, in an emergency, or they are already in a crisis and losing half or all of their investments in those hostile places. So i don't expect them to see the wisdom of using the facilities in the SE and SS and relocate NOW, until their businesses are being burnt or taxed disproportionately by hostile folks in the north and southwest.

Town Unions Economic Agenda......This will involve making each Town union as a purely economic Union!....... Each & every town will study the economic potentials in their respective villages, towns,Lgas & State!.Let's take for instance,(1) University..... They will among themselves fund it by levying all the branches that are outside The Eastern region!.(1)Food Processing is another area they will need to invest by drawing money from town unions outside Alaigbo!.Building Industrial areas where machineries for Shoemaking,Garment & Souvenirs will be readily available or installed!. They will set out some money for startup & training of Indigeneous people on how to make use of them!.The purpose of all these is to attract at least between 20 to 30% of our resources back to our region in other to create jobs & retain our population!.

The problem with the igbos is that if they are not in hot pursuit by outsiders, they will not think they have a home to relocate to. This is the bane of our problem in this part of the country. they want things done osiso and it is not easy as they think it seems.

Onne seaport is a private seaport owned and managed by the people from the north. You cant import through that seaport without enriching the northern cabals. these northerners have turned the southsouth region to their milk and honey estate.

I have been waiting for the people with thesame line of thought and like it seems that some people are now thinking the way i am thinking. Our present economy is not too strong to depend on the oil and like i watched clearly on aljazeera yesterday, OPEC is not as strong as it used to be that means they dont have the power to upturn the price of fuel in the world as at now. this goes to show that we need to diversify before we're forced by economic reality to diversify.

Developing the eastern economy is the way forward and because we cant end up begging by the end of 2016.

I know that the governors in the east have so many things in their cooking-pot at the moment but the only way their projects will be enjoyed is if they boost the local economy of the region by coming together and build it. looking at the IGRs of the different states, they dont have the capacity to do it alone and they dont have the facilities to beg these investors to come. it is if they come together, they have enough money and power to drag investors to the region and each state specializes where it has comparative advantage and the development goes on and on.

there are many loopholes that need to be covered to sustain this line of thought.
