To add to what TeempakGuy said which I believe sums it up, especially the hypocritical part which its undoubtably true, I think another factor is that PDA could influence kids or like we put it 'corrupt' their minds.

I think there's an uneasiness and trepidation when engaging in PDA when kids and young adults are around, and the last thing an average African would want is to have kids watch them cuddle up, needless to say lock lips together. This to us is capable of corrupting their minds.

Whether such believe is true or not is debatable but I for one too, find it difficult to engage in PDA in the presence of kids. Perhaps, I'm still a prisoner to my African inclinations.

Ya, it's creepy and causes apprehension when one engages in PDA in the presence of kids, same way it is for adults when they see young teens make out in their presence. You just want to leave the scene as it's awkward to watch teens of less than 16 make out in your presence.

Imagine, a young niece/nephew of yours watch you kiss your woman and ask what are you doing? How do one react to that? No, I no dey.

Now you're talking, exactly the angle I've been driving at. Nothing irks me than seeing kids, who are as young as 12-15 kiss in the public. I can't really tell how it makes me feel but I so much feel angry to see such rubbish. I think most of them do it to evoke reaction from onlookers.
