My friends that graduated with first class from OAU were not retained even before now. So, no big deal.

what is this Vc taking about, it was never automatic. 1st class, 2.1, and 2.2 returning for masters in the same department are the ones that get a shot at an offer.
My wife had a first from oau, was retained after completion of her masters(with distinction) in Unilag, but Canada came calling

There is something wrong with this Prof, l think?
Since he became VC of OAU, he has sought to rubbish everything good that University stands for.

His statement sounds like he thinks he is doing them a favour by retaining them at the University while in actual fact, those who started that idea knew it was a way to lure them away from the private sector who know their worth and pays them accordingly.
These are Graduates who go on to be Lecturers and Doctoral Students and Profs in the future.

Again, saying "given the large number of students who obtain 1st class grade now" makes it sound like they are not "qualified" to be so-called?

If only this V.C Omole, like other V.C's, would stop looting the funds of the University and running it like their "personal fiefdom", there would be enough money to pay salaries and employ sound grduates.

A simple but glaring case of "misplaced priority"..... from a so-called Prof! SMH

Look @ this partial and insincere VC. You gave your 2nd class whether upper or lower only God's knows brother from Ekiti state university appointment in prestigious University of O.A.U as lecturer and you came out in the open to tell the whole world that employment opportunity are no longer available for first class students of O.A.U.The ? to be asked here is that,did VC himself graduated with first class,if NO that means the VC needs to re-enroll for UTME and start his academic career all over again.

Unbelievable and a sad day for Nigeria if true.
