Is that a REVA MK5? If so, that would be a quick delivery from when the order was placed.

We purchased both Reva MK3s and Reva MK5s. Delivery of the Reva MK5 was reported on Beegeagle when MK3s were first sighted.

However because of the secrecy which surrounds weapons procurement in Nigeria, we constantly have to rely on unofficial photographs to proof some of these deliveries.

Oh, didn't know you ordered both at the same time. Was informed the MK5 order only came later, after the NA had been extensively using and been impressed by the MK3. What's the point with the secrecy when the selling party has to report and publish in its country's domicile?
So, is it safe to assume the order ICP is currently processing is for both?

They are not mandated by law to release figures.

Secrecy in defence procurements is just another avenue to loot funds and falsify figures. Nothing more nothing less.

Yes... ICP is currently processing the order for both contracts, we do not know, and probably would never know the amount ordered. Last we heard was ICP was purportedly running at full capacity due to the Nigeria order.

FOR WHICH COUNTRY?

the aircraft is one of the four Il-80 aircraft, heavily modified Il-86 airliners, used as airborne command center in a role similar to that of the U.S. Boeing E-4B since the mid-1980s.

In service with the 8th Special Purpose Aviation Division, at Chkalovsky Airport, near Moscow, the Il-80 is meant to keep the top Russian officials, including the President, alive and safe in case of nuclear war: for this reason, the Maxdome does not feature any external windows (other than the cockpit windshield) and it is equipped with domes, bulges and antennas meant to block EMP, RF pulse, and to shield against nuclear blasts while ensuring the ability to communicate with other assets including ballistic missile submarines when the ground infrastructure is heavily damaged or destroyed.

The extent of the modifications is unclear.

“The new generation airborne command post has improved survivability, functionality and reliability, and the electronics on board have reduced mass-dimensional characteristics and power consumption, its producer claims,” according to RT.

As said, the American counterpart of the Il-80, is the U.S. Air Force E-4B, a modified B747-200 that serves as National Airborne Operations Center. Four such aircraft (based at Offutt Air Force Base, Nebraska) are responsible to keep the U.S. Secretary of Defense, the Joint Chiefs of Staff and other top personalities alive in the event of Armageddon (a nuclear war, a terrorist attack, a zombie revolution or an alien invasion).

Special mission vehicle option for Nigeria

Proforce defence militarized Toyota hilux presents what is an ideal low intensity combat/ recon vehicle for the military. A light, adequately protected option ideal for recon, rapid defensive type duty and MEDVAC.

- 7.62mm protection (B6- B7 protection)

- FLIR LTV mounts (360 degrees long range situational awareness)

- Good off road and on road capabilities

- 2 weapons mounts, 12.7mm/ LG3 Grenade launcher and a GPMG mount

-Heavy duty step and Transparent armour

- Light and easy to maintain

If this isn't an ideal vehicle for Low-Intensity Operations....... Then I don't know what is.

Protected against 7.62mm rounds!! Impressive

How much does it weigh? And does it still use the original 3,2 D4D/2,5l engine or a other powerplant.

Its a technology test-bed, once they have operated it for a couple of years they will commission a proper production run

They did the exact same thing with their new LCS class

Cost is so high because it includes R&grin - and it costs as much (in terms of R&grin) as the Arleigh Burke Flight 111, but the unit cost was brought down by the long production run they hadc for the Burkes

So, once they are finished and place an order you will see the unit cost droo dramatically (economies of scale)

Same with F35, everyone goes on about "the trillion dollar jet"..... but what thet fail to realize is that once they go into production the F35 will be the cheapest fighter (unit cost) the USAF has had in the jet age

Also - RAILGUNS

The ship is practically empty, they have left space for the equipment needed to power railguns, so in the next 10 years we will see one sporting a railgub, which will herald the return of the Battleship (i hope)

Still not convinced, they originally ordered 32 DDG1000s and canceled 29 of them, that differently says something. Also what makes it better, than say the Type 45 destoyer, yes the Zumwalt comes with 80 cells and the Type 45 with 42+8 but its also halve the size and definitely less than halve the cost? Not to mention the hull of the Zumwalt is extremely unstable in rough sees, so don't expect one visiting SA.

Also doesn't matter how great the US is at stealth design, your not hiding a 15ton ship

As for Railguns, what I've read is that they would take up less space than conventional guns, when they enter service one day, thus one can theoretically fit a Railguns on to any platform.
