Mikkyphaton:
Thursday 17th of Dec. 6:30 am appointment. After waiting on the queue for about three hours to get interviewed. It looked like it was only the woman at window 1 that was interviewing non-immigrants student visas. Finally my visa was approved. I want to thank everyone who has contributed to this forum in one way or the other, from slimmy05, walspring, bigfrancis, deetus and others with their construction criticism and explicit dissemination of vital information that is very useful in acquiring the visa. I would drop my transcript this evening, kind of stressed up now. But one major thing I know is that prayer works, cos that's about the major thing I did and I was highly favoured by God. Thanks to everyone once again and to those who are still going for their interview later this month, just as others prayed for me, I also pray for you that your heart desires would be granted and you all would come here to give your own testimony. In Jesus name. Amen.
Yeah, congrats and merry Christmas in advance to you. cheesy

i do not agree with the Capitalized part, however congratulations on your visa approval. I think one should dress according to what you seek to portray, it is a formal interview, one should dress formally. i wore a clean suit and a tie to my interview and my visa was approved. dress properly, ones interview is 80 percent your interaction with the V.O and 20 percent the rest.
Responsible people gave advise here that I followed and it worked for me, so I see no reason I can't tell others what worked for me based on my experience. All ideas are needed to support ourselves, if you have what can help others kindly send it here instead of looking for a way of antagonising others.

a lot of people look hungry and desperate in suit. It's not a formal interview for job. It's a visa interview mr man. Your Agbada can get you visa.

I am not antagonizing you, i only disagreed with you. and i believe what i said can also help someone. You shouldn't start whipping up unnecessary sentiments! A tie doesn't deny one a VISA! That's just one of the points i wanted to convey and i still hold on to it.
Secondly, i have posted my transcript weeks before today since i benefited from the forum as well. so calm down.

Looking hungry in a particular apparel goes both ways, dont you think. Agreed An agbada can get one a visa Mr. man, but i strongly believe a formal dressing conveys some level of seriousness. Besides i earlier made the point that a visa interview is 80 percent one's interaction with the Visa officer.

Hello bro,Been denied a UK visa does not stop u from getting UR US VISA, I have been to the UK several times and still got denied a US Visa before, so its not a problem atall, Moreover since you are getting a new passport You are good to go bro,Even when you filling your DS-160 form it wouldn't ask you if you have been denied a UK visa, its only gonna ask if you have been refused a US VISA before.Just read from people transcript here to help you understand much better on how to go about your US Visa,And if i may ask,are you applying for an F1-Student Visa ??

To those who just got their visa and coming to the US soon, get yourselves prepared for secondary examination at the POE.

MY TRAVEL TRANSCRIPT:

Got to the MMIA and did my check-in. Had a couple of my cloths returned because I had excess luggage. Had food items like dried meat and fish, garri, egusi and pepper and the police/custom that checked my luggage insisted that I 'settle' them with N3k or I get it quarantined. I gave her N1k to let me be. School's in Connecticut but since they are going on vacation, I decide to go spend xmas with Uncle and family at Atlanta before I resume school. I flew with Qatar Airways on Tuesday, Lagos-Doha-Miami-Atlanta. That was long but adventurous for me. Flew 6 hours to Doha and had a 8 hours long (12am to 8am) lay-over. I never slept all through that night. I just enjoyed the free wifi at the HIA airport and charged my devices. Qatar has good services, their meal is relatively okay. I say relative because the first meal I had on the plane enroute Doha nauseated me. The second meal was nice. We flew 16 hours Doha-Miami. Had three meals on board and they were all nice. Had wine, ice cream, coffee, juice, chocolates and fruit salad.

I landed in Miami (POE) about 4pm local time and was meant to board a connecting flight to Atlanta in about 3 hours plus time. We disembarked the aircraft and went to get stamped in. Lo and behold there were plenty people waiting on the queue. So preference was given to those of us who are to catch our flight by 7:30pm. It got to my turn and I gave the CBP official my I-20 and international passport. While he checked, he asked me a few questions:

CBP 1: Where is the school at?

Me: Connecticut.

CBP 1: When is the school resuming?

Me: January 13th

CBP 1: Where are you coming from.

Me: Nigeria but I flew through Qatar.

CBP1: Where are you headed.

Me: Atlanta. Since the school is going on vacation, I wont be able to commence registration so I decided to go and spend xmas with my Uncle and his family in Atlanta and thereafter leave for school.

CBP : When are you going to connecticut?

Me: In about 10 days. Just after xmas.

CBP: You have your flight ticket to connecticut?

Me: No not yet.

CBP:What's that paper you are holding.

Me: My SEVIS fee confirmation.

He took the SEVIS receipt from me, took my picture and finger prints, held on to my passport and asked me that wait somewhere around. Some other people were standing as well. I knew immediately that was secondary examination. I was scared. I wondered what went wrong. Thought if it was because of the food items I declared

An officer who was packing all witheld passports beckoned at self and others standing to come with him and led us into another hall (DHS office) where people in our shoes were already seated. European, Arabians, South Americans, Carribeans, and Africans including myself sat patiently to be called, questioned and examined. I waited for about 5 hours before I was called! Remember I had a connecting flight to Atlanta in 3 hours. At first I was worried I was going to miss my flight but when I saw that majority of us examined will miss our flights I stopped worrying. I sat calmly while several thoughts of what might have gone wrong filled my head. I had no answers. Then I decided to just dey look for I felt they could be watching and studying everyone on camera. While we were seated, I-94 cards were distributed for us to fill.

I later noticed an officer was looking at me while he worked on his computer, I sensed he was probably ascertaining my identity.

He called my name from his window and then I walked up to him, gave him my filled I-94 card. Asked me the same questions the first officer earlier asked me I gave same answer. He stamped the card and gave me my copy, stamped my passport as well. At the exit door, another officer checked my passport and I-94 plus my I-20 and asked me what I came to the US, told him study. He stamped me out. That was around 10pm.

I then went to claim my luggage (2) but i couldn't find them so i spoke with the CBP officer I saw around, explained to him that I was with the CBP and I missed my flight, he helped call someone on his phone and the told me the bags have been moved to Atlanta and that I should go to the American Airline stand and complained (American Airlines pick local flight while Qatar does not, so AA and QA work together for local flights). I showed the AA attendant my ticket, he checked and told me the gate I'll board the next flight. Mhen that gate was so far, 12 minutes and I was still walking down to the gate. I got to the gate, got my ticket changed and waited for us to board around 12:30 am while I tapped into the Miami airport wifi. I was airborne for another 90mins from Miami to Atlanta, touched down, went straight to claim my luggage and found them. While we waited for the luggage, I tapped into the Atlanta airport wifi.

While I was in the DHS office in Miami phone usage was forbidden so I could not reach my uncle on phone to tell him I will be delayed. I called him with my roamed line after I was released and apparently he was worried because I didn't call him at the expected time, he didn't know what was happening. My uncle was waiting to pick me and we left after I picked my luggage.

Sorry but do not let this particular denial hold you down!

Next time, pay attention to the way you respond to questions. Cleveland State University is a good school and you ought to have gotten your visa.

Please re-apply as soon as possible and study success transcripts only as well as some comments or posts.

Wishing you the best of luck.
