HCpaul:so searching for God means reading about hell, affirms the fact that the basis of your beliefs is Fear and not necessarily faith. Fear of an angry God that will burn you in case you don't believe.. Quite on the contrary such concept rubbishes the concept of god to any sane mind, it betrays a childish, egocentric, barbaric, insecure, vengeful, narcissistic, sadistic and childish anger issues in a supposed supreme being that should be above such flaws. Such huge character flaws betrays chronic insecurities of such concepts that banks on torture to coerce feeble minds. Such character flaws heaped on such concepts makes anything but one iota of sense Or rather you should be laughing at your own sheepish gullibility and vulnerability in reverence of abstract concepts that are nothing more than figments of your own fears and imaginations .. Your gullibility and superstitious mindset is your cup of tea 3 Likes 3 Shares |

malvisguy212: Belial Dragons are real,5 years ago, one Belial dragon attacked my nephew late in the night. Once i noticed the attack, I quickly recited some verses from the Egyptian book of the dead calling on Amun Ra for help and protection. God Amun answered my prayers swiftly and the dragon turned into a lizard, i kicked the lizard and it turned into a yellow fish with 4 diamond horns, I quickly reached for the diamond horns , but the yellow fish vanished while screaming my nephews name. May Rah be praised above all the Gods. 9 Likes 3 Shares |

johnydon22: The real battle lies in admonishing the church to be balanced in their sermons. Ascribing everything "evil" under the sun never minding if it is common flu to "principalities and powers in high places" is not exactly the way to go. The clergy thrives on the fear of their flock and this shouldn't be as the Good Book proclaims that God has not given us the spirit of fear...but sound mind! Yes, there are dubious native religion practitioners just as there are scandalous men of the cloth. We should learn to respect other people's culture, beliefs and views in as much as it doesn't bring about harm to the next man. This is one thing we are yet to get right in Nigeria. 1 Like 1 Share |

4C2215131:This is exactly the point, why attack another based on the practises of his own belief when you are freely practising yours. Christians shout persecution when things don't go as they want but in the actual sense they are the ones persecuting lesser religions.. Freedom of belief and religion does not mean one should force others to live by their beliefs or religious dictates. You have the right to speech in criticism of any idea but nothing gives anyone the right to physically attack and lynch another based on the tenets of the beliefs and practices 2 Likes 3 Shares |

KingEbukasBlog:Lmao.. i asked "if they achieved their economic state by praying for it?" not whether you will get there or not here again was my post " when will africans learn one can never change an economic status by praying for it, if wishes worked we all would be richer than Bill Gates now." Am sure i never said Africans should see developed countries don't pray.. People are religious in every society You only showed countries that prayed not that they achieved economic improvement through prayers which was exactly what my post implied.. Maybe you should review what you think you proved wrong, stop reading your own meaning into someone's assertion.. quite hilarious i must say.. 2 Likes 1 Share |

johnydon22: Very funny ... your response is quite nescient if you ask me . When one prays for his country , he asks mostly for national peace , a positive economic change . The economy of a country is one the most important if not paramount when praying . I know it hurts that your purpose of creating this thread makes no sense . Ostensibly , you want Africans to stop superstition but your true purpose is to mock their religious beliefs . You claim their prayers are fruitless - that's mockery . Here is the prayer made in the Commons of the British Parliament "Lord, the God of righteousness and truth, grant to our Queen and her government, to Members of Parliament and all in positions of responsibility, the guidance of your Spirit. May they never lead the nation wrongly through love of power, desire to please, or unworthy ideals but laying aside all private interests and prejudices keep in mind their responsibility to seek to improve the condition of all mankind; so may your kingdom come and your name be hallowed. Amen." When the leaders are doing it right there will be surely economic reforms that would put the nation on the right path . Or are you now being disingenuous ? KingEbukasBlog: What is this trash? Name one country that has developed based on prayers alone? No evidence to show that those who pray are better than those who do not pray at all. Prayer is just wishful thought. No country's loot has ever been changed by praying. 3 Likes 3 Shares |
Re: Africans And Superstition by 4C2215131: 7:46am On Dec 18, 2015 |
AAinEqGuinea: Not exactly canvassing for the abrogation of our tradition but I like to think that any culture or tradition that perpetuates a nihilistic and harmful approach to its creed is not worth preserving. In essence, while one is allowed to practice his spiritual inclination it should be such as not to go against the grain of acceptable societal norms and human laws which are most of the time instituted to protect the sanctity of human life and thought. When the practice of one's religion infringes on the basic rights of the next man to a fulfilled, safe and purposeful existence, then such a practice deserves to be shut down! |

johnydon22: Well spoken. The need for dominance in religious thought and practice has been among the key factors that informed all the wars this world has seen from Genesis to now. If man were more tolerant of each other's perspective on life, the world would be a better place (a utopian dream I know but it is what it is). 1 Like 1 Share |

4C2215131:You see it is common to see pastors burning shrines here, why burn someone else's place of worship when you have yours? muslims burning Churches and like i showed in my Op beating up people because of their own beliefs. People mistake freedom of religion to mean freedom to force it down others throat. Everyone has the right to an idea and you as another also has the right to an opposite idea and you both have the right to verbally criticize and disagree on that idea. What is unacceptable is physically attacking other people for holding different ideas and beliefs... 5 Likes 5 Shares |

there are forces in this world. take it or leave it. but the truth is that anyone can learn to control some of these forces, or at least study these forces. from the Pope to the local palmist, all of them are the same. we've just chosen to give them different labels and revere them based on our experiences and exposure. they are all witches and wizards. I personally think it's a mind thing though, because inasmuch as I think these forces exist, I have not experienced it, but I've seen its effect on other people. |
