Attention:
I got a call from a nairalander yesterday and what he noticed when he wanted to buy a battery yesterday.
We all have to be very careful even from that guy at oshodi , me fit fall for that kind scam ,
E.g some are written 200ah on them but they are not actually upto 200ah , they use a sticker of 200ah to cover the actual amp of the battery, he said most 200ah batteries are 165ah , but omo ibo go take sticker of 200ah to cover it and tell u its 200ah,
When u want to buy a battery, check where its written 200ah and see if ur finger nail can peel off any sticker nylon on the body of the nylon,
Don't let those guys cheat u, money wey person suffer save

I've completed my setup. I bought the batteries from another seller within the market. He sold 12V 180AH Mast Type Batteries @ #25,000 each. I bought 2pcs (I must say the batteries weight no here o! Come see as my legs dey wobble when I begin carry them).

I also called a Konga seller that offered Mercury 2.4Kva inverter @ #25,000 and I end up buying @ #22,000 at his office in Alagomeji.

I'm enjoying it as it is. My battery still full 4 bars after 4 hours of use. No shaking at all.

Please ceejay80 I got a UPS but wen I opened it up I saw 2 batteries. So I want to ask if I can connect my 12 40AH to one of the battery terminals and then connect the smart charger to electricity so I will leave the 2nd battery untouched ?
It won work. That type of ups can only work if u have 2 batteries and connected in series...
If its 650va ups that uses one battery ,u can always add one battery in parallel when ever u wish but ur type of ups, u must add 2 batteries, u can't add one battery to make it 3 , it has to be 4 batteries 2,4,6,8,10,12 connected in series etc
1,3,5,7,9,11 batteries won't work
Connecting batteries n parallel is easier and better

Its not a matter of answer or no answer.

He answered with rudeness.

I would have preferred no answer at all Instead.

I found this thread looking for inverter batteries.

The boy thinks he's making my life better because I asked him a question.

Be cool.

Those kind of chargers doesn't have sense, they will overcharge ur battery and at the end of it all, damage the battery or reduces the battery's life span

Hello CoderXO, I get ur drift and understand u perfectly, but in life we have to take a whole lot of shit to get to where we are or where we want to be, I believe Ceejay80 has also learnt a few things here too, mannerism included as we have all learnt and will continue to learn. Let's just enjoy the thread and make a difference. Cheers

No one gave or took a poo here. The problem sometimes is that we are too lazy to learn or read should i say. This thread is just sixteen paged and growing.

I must say i have read all over thrice and still learning. Imagine when you are on an international forum reading a thread of about 300+ pages and you dare not ask question cos no one will give you a direct answer than , "go and read the whole thread"

Ceejay is doing a great job. I don't know if the one that says "so you know?" or the one that says "On a good day you can't shine my shoes" has a magnified ego. Truth be told.

The problems on this thread started when it hit the front page. grin

Ask the seller if he has a meter to test the battery, if he has, let him test it and see if the battery is ok, if its ok , buy the 100ah but if he doesn't have the meter to read batteries, tell him to get one

Ceejay / makavele please I will be grateful if you can answer my questions.

1. When a device does not have power rating in watts but has voltage and current rating. It is correct to calculate the power with P=IV.

2. If the above is correct a device with 100-240v rating. Which voltage should we use 100 or 240 or there average.

3. And lastly how do we determine the power rating of a laptop? From its adaptor/charger or from the laptop itself. Because mine has different rating.
Does the power consumption of a laptop on use differ from its shutdown but charging mode.

I know this are the kind of questions I should ask my power electronics lecturers.. But sadly we are on break.
I will really appreciate ur reply

I think we should be particular about the brand here. I have done my research here in Lagos, and the prevailing market price for a NEW 40AH - 65AH is between 11K (Fabion or so) to 15k (croc), even 17k (Fullriver) - That's if you are lucky enough to see 40AH, as it is relatively very scarce now. Most importantly, one should be careful of the brand, as Ceejay earlier said, there are so many FAKE brands o!

I set off to Olowora today for Idyllic technologies, despite the heavy traffic warnings. It took me more than 4hours between Gbagada and Berger ! Eventually, I got the Office and bought 65AH Fullriver battery for 22K. The guy however said it's 23k but I bargained well and he accepted. As he said, they are the only authorized dealer for Fullriver batteries in Nigeria, and they had almost all AHs except 40AH. he claimed they had so much of it in stock some months ago, and they were scared of how to sell them all off, but suddenly, some guys stormed their office from Alaba market and cleared ALL 40AH stock (more than 900pieces) in one day! shocked

I think the battery is VERY RUGGED and in high demand. If the 9k one is a good brand, then I think it's a fair price for a new and good quality battery.

Same power usage as long as the adapter is plugged in
