@op, yes it exists but only among a few persons. True love is described in 1 corinthians 13 vs 4-8. However, what we have now is just lust and immoral sexual cravings. Most Nigerian girls in relationships are actually prostitutes cos they belong to the highest bidder. The media is one of the biggest cause of all these. God help us 1 Like |

Of course true love exists, although it is quite rare. True love doesn't just happen out of the blue, or at first sight, or few weeks or months after you meet someone, it is something that's built, refined and developed. For love to be true, it must have passed through certain trials and tests. For a couple to vouch that they truly love each other, then they have to get married, because marriage is the first actual proof that they love each other. If someone loves another person he/she would want to spend their lives with that person. Two people who are dating can't say that they are truly in love, that's foolishness and absolute ignorance. They'd have to first get married and then stay married despite circumstances and various forms of opposition that may threaten their marriage. If they can thrive in spite of such and still be together and still feel the same way for each other like they first felt when they decided to get married, then their love is true. 1 Like |

When You could Run into A Moving bullet for Your partner...Or Spend Your life savings for Their health Or still Love them Despite the fact that they're Mentally or physically challenged Or If You've Got A chance to choose btw Your life n theirs' n U Choose yours even without thinking...Then, I'd believe in its existence... Infatuation is built on lust and superficiality, and when whatever drives that lust is no longer as enticing as before, then that infatuation is lost, but love is built on friendship, trust, commitment and sacrifice. Estharfabian:You are missing the point here. We are not arguing about the existence of true love in the context of areas exclusive of romantic relationships. Like I said in my first comment on this thread, love undergoes a growth, refinement and testing process before it then said to be true or genuine. The evolution of love occurs in levels, and TRUE LOVE is at the apex of all these levels. You'd have to first get attracted to someone, then get to get to know that person, before you start to talk of loving or truly loving that person. It's not just about asking if someone can love a disabled person or not. Of course true love doesn't exist outside natural principles, but true love thrives the midst of them all. Human nature isn't inherently egoistic. That's a dumb thing to say. Everyone is born with certain distinct traits which evolve as the individual grows, and these traits are influenced by an influx of external factors that then lead to the formation and gradual reformation of the personality of the individual. So to say we are born egoistic and remain egoistic, is wrong. You see, the problem here is that you are using your personality as your sole premise for arguing. Everyone is not as shallow and empty as you are. Because you "seemingly" love or appear to love just for profit, or a certain gain, doesn't mean every other person does. Just as people are different, people love differently Like I said, marriage is the first testament of love. If two people can get married and still remain strong in the storm of trials and temptations that might try to threaten their union, and still feel the same way for each other, and remain together, then their love is true. There are couples who fell in love with each other, got married, had kids and still stay married. And both of them still craved each others friendship and companionship, and that spark of love and attraction that was there at the beginning of their relationship, was still burning till the very end when death finally takes one of them away. This my friend, is an example of true love in play. |
