The Director of Funds in the office of the Accountant General of the Federation, AGF, Mr Mohammed Dikwa has assured workers that the on-going upgrading of the Government Integrated Financial Management Information System, GIFMIS, will not affect the payment of December salary before Christmas.
GIFMIS is an information technology-based system for budget management and accounting that is being implemented by the federal government.
Dikwa made this disclosure in Abuja during an interview with newsmen on the sideline of a one-day workshop on the Treasury Single Account and e-payment/collection.
The Director noted that the system would be shut down over the weekend for the upgrade so as to ensure prompt payment of salaries.
He said, “I want to assure all Federal civil servants that, God willing, they will get their salaries before Christmas because we will try as much as possible to pay the salaries before that time.
On the issue of the maintenance, Dikwa said, “The essence of the shut down is for maintenance. Some people complained that they couldn’t have access over the last few weeks because of the queue management challenge.
“We want to upgrade the infrastructure that we have over the weekend so that by Monday next week all payments will go on smoothly.
“But with the new improvement, the system will be easily accessed, there will be seamless transactions, and people will get their money before Christmas particularly salaries and other financial commitments of government.
“If you look at the trend, people find it difficult to have access easily because the infrastructure was not strong enough to effectively handle the queue management.
“We hope to have the Federation Account Allocation Committee meeting much more earlier and that will give us the room to have more money into the consolidated revenue of the federal government that will be used for the purpose of paying salaries and other commitments of government as far as this financial year is concerned.’’

Cross River State Civil Servants could not contain
their excitement on Wednesday when they
realised that their December salary had been
paid.
Since the inception of the Professor Ben Ayade-
led administration, civil servants get their
salaries on or before the 25th of every month.
The governor has however raised the bar this
December when salaries were paid on the 16th.
Mr. Steve Onoh, a civil servant with the Ministry
of Finance, commended the governor for his
humane disposition to civil servants through
prompt and early payment of salaries.
Another civil servant, Mrs. Glory Umotong, a
teacher at Government Secondary School
Uwanse said she first thought her bank was
playing pranks with her when she got her salary
alert.
“This has never happened before in the state.
Governor Ayade understand the challenges of
workers in the state and has demonstrated that
he is committed to workers welfare” she said.
She said it was therefore, not a surprise to her
that “the National Association of Local
Government Employees (NULGE) has decided to
honour Governor Ayade with the award of best
governor with pro-workers policies in the
country.”
Umotong said workers in the state will continue
to rally round the governor for his positive
commitment to workers in the state.
Hear her: “Governor Ayade is the only governor
in the country that has exempted some segment
of workers from payment of tax. This same
governor in the era when his colleague governors
are contemplating reducing the work force in
their states, has decided to broaden the labour
space in Cross River by employing more workers.
This man is humane and god- fearing and must
be commended and encouraged.”
Also affirming the governor’s steadfastness in
the improvement of workers welfare in the state,
Brian Inyang, a staff of the local government
said that Cross River State under Ayade is the
number one sate in improved workers welfare.
“Ayade has given workers in the state a renewed
hope, in fact, our salaries come earlier than
expected. This kind of thing has never happened
before, this governor must be encouraged and
our prayer for him is God’s abundant blessings
and wisdom to lead the state to greater heights.
It is obviously clear that under Ayade, Cross
River States will be the number one in the
country.”

us happy by following the good example of Cross

Stop peddling rumours here! I see you prefer to have your next pay check in two months time, so be it for you then.

As for me & my peeps who know we're worthy of our pay having fulfilled our end of the deal, we'll be paid soonest & not in two months time.

My reply neither ferments quarrel nor hate, it's simply an encouragement for her to live by & accept her own advice because it's not for me & other like-minded fellows. I detest pessimistic & retrogressive thinking.
