malkinburg:What do you mean by being patient enough? Is it being patient to get some experience here in naija before applying for PR? What of when we are not getting any jobs at all here, what choice do we have? Besides immigration laws change, so waiting can sometimes be detrimental. |

NNBB2012:At the bolded. Australia gives a 2 years post study visa which in some applications like with Engineer Australia, you dont need work experience after msc studies to get a PR. Jst get up to 60 points and proceed from there. And the two years are enough to get the PR and get a job |
| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 11:53pm On Dec 21, 2015 |
mctowel01:You do not need Australian MSc either to get positive assessment from Engineers Australia as a graduate of Engineering from Nigeria. Some Engineering degrees at MSc level are not even accredited by Engineers Australia. The implication is that you will still need to write your CDR provided that you have first degree in Engineering which is even enough on its own to get you positive assessment. You can only be eligible for post-study visa if you meet the criteria which is at least minimum of 2years study. After studying here, there is no guarantee of securing a job in your field to enable you get the experience that will be required due to your visa limitation, particularly in Engineering. So, the main thing is that, if you can gather your 60points overseas, then go for it. Studying here does not automatically lead to PR, you just need to get your qualification assessed positively and earn the points. |

mctowel01:I had already replied your post where you quoted me before seen this. You did not sound as someone genuinely seeking for answers but rather as someone who is well experienced in the subject matter. Well, as someone has told you to take your time and read through the pages in this thread and you will get answers to your numerous questions. Your case is simple. You could get positive assessment provided you follow the right procedures. As I can see from your information, you are eligible for PR without necessarily going through the study path but you just need to gather the required points . Good luck! |

NNBB2012:I ve actually read a lot about it before coming here, but sometimes fear takes its toll. But i calmed down to read the DIBP site nd answered most of my questions. But I m really confused as to how I can still get up to 60 points considering I dont have any reliable experience except for undergraduate internship and I dont have a family member in australia for other visa paths |
| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mctowel01: 5:00am On Dec 22, 2015 |
NNBB2012:Frm the bolded, But the 2 years aus msc study(from an accreditted course) in the same SOL with no experience is enough to also get a positive skill assessment? And joining other factors like age nd ielts score, region one can get a pr? |
| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mctowel01: 5:04am On Dec 22, 2015 |
NNBB2012:My tone is in regards to mostly fresh graduates from Nigeria who have no experience and no higher qualification apart from bsc. Can they get the cdr with just bsc and without any experience or added family member? |
| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by NNBB2012: 5:17am On Dec 22, 2015 |
mctowel01:You can write CDR with your internship and any project you did during your undergraduate years. Age: 30 Nigerian qualification: 15 Ielts of min 7: 10. If you can get this, you will have 55points on your own. State Nomination: 5 or Regional area: 10 With this, you could end up having 60points for visa 190 or 65 for visa489, which is 2 years temporary visa in regional area which is a path way to PR. Your starting point is to sit for IELTS. If you do and get the result sufficient for assessmen i.e at least 6,6,6,6, you can then commence your assessment process. I am sure you will get positive assessment. |

@ Okpas12 sir, what level are you now? TRA, what are those things that must be done to get positive result |
| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by mctowel01: 6:09am On Dec 22, 2015 |
NNBB2012:Wow... Thanks, so once my skills have been accessed by EA, i wont be needing to show work experience if i can get up to 60 points for 190. Are the state nd or regional areas compulsory considering if(assuming) one gets 8 in ielts. Edited I just read about nomination requirement by state by using EOI. What are my chances of being chosen if I apply to all states with my present qualification? |

My bro are you not running forward too much ? You are not even sure of getting mobilised by June for NYSC!! I will only ask you to calm down and start service... DIPB rules might even change to your favor or against you by then.My 2 cents. quote author=mctowel01 post=41207489]Hello everyone. I ll be very glad to get your kind responses to this I want to migrate to australia through masters in Electrical Engineering. I read elect elect bsc in unilag with a 3.0/5. I also want to use the post study 2 yrs and also process my PR from there. My service will start june/july 2016 to may/june 2017. I dont have work experience. I am planning my masters resumption with july 2017 in take. 1. I am planning to write my ielts by december 2016. I also want to use the same ielts result for all my processing there, ie student visa, scholarships/internships available, 2 years post study visa and finally PR(189 visa). I ve read that to get PR, the ielts result has a validity of 3 years, how true is this? Will this be possible to use the same ielts result especially till the PR stage 2. Is transiting from student visa to the 2 years post study 485 visa an easy process? Hence howlong does it take? Can i use the remaining visa time after my msc to get it. Will it be an easy process? Can someone tell me the neccesary conditions and documents required for it? Will it be an easy process. I ve read about it from other sites, but i m quite scared on this plan, so can an experienced person tell me/ give me assurance. 3. My plan on getting the PR is Age: 30 Australian qualification: 15 2 years study in australia: 5 Regional area: 5 Ieslt of min 7: 10 Total: 65 I ll be choosing skill on SOL as Electrical Engineering. What are my chances? My bsc is of 4 years cos i came through direst entry from diploma to 200 level. I read about getting skill assessment from engineers australia. Will my bsc status with 4 years from nigeria cause any problems even with my msc from australia in the same course. Finaly, i also read that to use the independent 189 visa(no work experience) the final qualification should be at most 6 months before PR application. How fast will the previois applications be to enable me still get 3 years ielts validity(if i write it in latest jan 2017) in order to apply for the PR. I am suprised reading down, i have not seen many apply through this route(2 yrs aus msc with no experience) Someone pls rate my plans and chances of getting a PR on a 100 scale. I ll gladly glady appreciate. Thanks for even taken time to read down. Responses are warmly welcomed.[/quote] |

mctowel01:If you can get 8points from ielts, then you are good to go for 189 subclass-which is skilled independent. Your NYSC is not even a requirement for your assessment. Nobody cares about it here; all that matters is your ability to earn points. However, it may hunt you later in the nearest future in Nigeria. |

Ifexsco:I understand you, but I have to notify my sponsor early enough and i can advice my older relatives in better position than I am. Moreso, I have other plans, so, I think its never too early, nysc can be sorted by other means, besides its a waste of time. |

NNBB2012:First of all. Thanks for taking your time to reply my posts. I really appreciate it. I want to know how does our bsc correspond to aus bsc. I also saw: to get 15 points, it should be bsc hons. Can my qualification count as bsc hons?. Is it cgpa based? |

Been a while i posted on this thread. If you're targetting 20 points for English, i'd suggest you try PTE but it requires good preparation and determination. I wrote Ielts once and got LSRW (7.5, 8.0,8.5,7.0) which gave me just 10 points. I earlier mentioned determination because i had to write PTE twice to bag 20 points within the space of two weeks. I needed 79/90 at least in each ability and got LSRW(90, 79,78,90) in my first attempt. I went on different PTE discussion threads and almost gave up from the discouraging posts about PTE underscoring people and all sorts but i decided to shove them aside and gave the exam another shot where i finally got LSRW(90,87,86,90). Secondly, kindly ensure you go for the fast track option for EA assessment. It would cost you an additional $250 but very fast. I applied last week Thursday, got an additional document yesterday which i also submitted yesterday and got my assessment outcome this morning. Also note that your University(ranking, federal, state e.t.c.) doesnt really matter because i went to a state school. What they really check is your degree duration, transcript course content, your CDR and CPD. |

johnsontade:Thanks maybe pte is a better option, I ve heard ielts is more difficult. |
| Re: General Australian student Visa Enquiries Part 2 by johnsontade: 8:07am On Dec 22, 2015 |
mctowel01:Well, i'd say IELTS is more straightforward because your writing and speaking is scored by an Human unlike PTE where everything is score by a computer which means you just have to tell the computer exactly what it wants to hear The advantage PTE has its that you get your result much quickly and can book your exam anytime as there is always enough dates and available space. I would personally say PTE reading and speaking is tougher than IELTS. Writing is easier in PTE and listening is almost the same but not just fill in the Gap as we have in IELTS. |

Good day the gurus in the house, please I have been going through this thread for sometimes although confusing with some short words ![]() I really need help on cheap school to do my postgraduate studies , I have communicated to Edith Cowan school and their fees is high for my budget, I also checked uni of central Queensland but was confused with their fees so I need anyone that applied and got admission to the schools to guide me. I also have some issues which I will like the gurus to help me with I just wrote IELTS and got overall band of 6 although I didn't finish my reading test which made the mark low here is my score speaking 7.5 listening 6.0 writing5.5 reading 5.0 overall band =6.0 am so depressed and confused can I get a school that will take the result ? I came out with 2.2 but not so wonderful GPA and most schools in western Europe said I should do an art course instead of MSC on business. I wanted to go through skilled select but my course is not listed rather is in the other CSOL but I don't know how to go about with that one. someone advice me to go through school since the idea is to move with the family for PR purpose. please can anyone help guide me on what and cheaper school with good record of acceptance that I can apply for any other useful information will be highly appreciated. N/B not much fund at hand on a tight budget bless you all. |

NNBB2012:Hello, I do appreciate your posts here especially on pr issues, I got a positive assessment from vetasses for environmental scientist 'nec' some weeks back, I did PTE, which was where I flopped especially in the speaking and listening part, I got over 70 in both writing and reading though, I was actually targeting 190 visa for south australia but looks as if since my pte test scores is not up to the required score in all components, I may not have enough points to apply for nomination, Please what do you advise and is there any other province that has my occupation? Thanks |

utcheylee:The truth is no cheap school in Australia & your IELTS result is low for Msc, the minimum requirement for IELTS as regards Msc is 6.5 with nothing less than 6.0 in each band. If you are aiming at Msc budget around 1.8m to 2m & rewrite your english test, you can as well try other test of english like Toefl iBT & PTE, just find out the minimum requirements for the school you are intending to apply to. |
