Kachikwu is a very brilliant man. His utterances inspires hope. This business model for the refineries is pragmatic and can be implemented. Let the refineries be responsible for their cost and revenue, hence consider thoroughly what their profit should be. I think future months to come will be an exciting period in Nigeria. Oil prices are NEVER going to go up except there is a major crisis in one or two oil countries.

Subsidy removal will eradicate fraudulent oil suppliers, whilst only serious marketers will remain. The oil marketers will complement in volume, the total oil consumption expected by the refineries. I know serious downstream investors will be watching Nigeria closely.

The era of impunity from fuel stations will be over soon. Now, these stations should consider customer oriented trainings for their staff because these changes are effectively positioning the customer to be KING. The customer can clearly choose which fuel station he would patronized.
You have a solid analytical brain unlike most people on naira land who are guided by petty sentiment.

NNPC was being run in a very corrupt and unprofessional manner. The regime of the hapless Dr Clueless Jonathan and Dieziani only made things even worse. Maybe if the oil price was not so high during that regime things would have been done in a better way. The refineries we have now and their expansion potential can make Nigeria earn 6bn dollars a year.

2 pivotal key performance indicators for the buhari govt IMO should be the refineries and power sector.

1. By end of 2018, Nigeria must have stopped importation of refined oil, which takes a whopping 35% of our FOREX angry angry

2. By the end of 2018, Nigerians on national grid should have increased to at least 65-70% and can boast minimum of 12hours of power supply daily.

All other things are secondary to me, as weird as it may sound.

Lol! Don't worry girl, I won't call you Thomas because you are a lady but you will eat the good of the land. Remember PDP made us all Thomases. They ruled for more than 15 years with nothing to show for it.

Thinking Export is the key to conserving/increasing our foreign reserves and creating local employment. The refineries need to operate like profit centres with revenue targets instead of the scam we call TAM every year.

Enough of exporting jobs through senseless importations.
.what are we likely to export in substantial measure to increase our comparative trade advantage.. we already import substantial amounts of food commodities from neighboring Togo and far away south Africa and we export literally nothing .. Trade advantages is what guarantees a stable forex economy and increased reserves. it is not just about saying it, but having the insight to direct policy initiatives at the right sectors and ensure that there are realistic "practical" structures to ensure sustainability.. This is where we get the "Lack of Maintenance" culture from. we are good at over-spending on initiatives that have no structures in place to ensure sustainability.

With price of crude in free fall , exporting refined petroleum products to Africa would be a profitable revenue stream.

In fact we should be building additional refineries

You photocopied my mind.

Between 1991-1992 we were making almost $200m in refined product sales.

If we were using our brains, we should not be exporting a drop of crude oil in this country 25 years later.

If countries like Singapore and Japan with little or no crude oil, with less manpower, can be refining and exporting over 2 million barrels of refined petroleum products per day respectively, then WTF are we doing?

There is no OPEC cap for refined products, by now, we should be refining in excess of 5 million barrels (minimum) of refined products daily -- just imagine the jobs, the Forex, the prosperity.

Weird? No.

You are just being honest and realistic!

Fix those there, and other things will almost 'auto-correct'.

Free energy won't work because it will not provide continuous income for the rich and countries so dependent on oil. It will disrupt economic balance. They won't let it fly

You have a valid point but watch and see .... The reason it will work is that US want to be the main energy source of the world... Which will simply put the Saudis and the IRANIAN to where they should be
