Only wasteful people get to spend that amount on a daily basis, but if you hustled for your money and went over to do your PG abroad with your hard earned money, you can't spend such an amount on a daily basis.

Before voting a party

Ask yourself serious questions about the candidate. cool

Asking ourselves serious questions wouldn't have led majority of voters to vote PDP.
Aside APC, the only option left was PDP, but it was not a viable one.

I am not partisan, my interest is in good governance, PDP has failed repeatedly in this regard.
Apc has not lived up to expectations too, but there were no indications that the economic and security situations today would've been better managed by PDP. At least with APC there were expectations, PDP offered no hope.

Human beings can write creatively. The handwriting on those posters are pathetic. The writers aren't good in non-ruled sheets. cry

My brother, you are wrong.

First, cbn no longer approves form A dollars for student and housing.
My brother's form A has been sitting in the banknfor two goddam weeks.

Secondly, 1000 usd per month is too small considering the cost of living there.

Some weeks ago, I was in paris. I couldn't even pay my hotel bill of 1, 500 dollars.
I had to contact my brother in u.s. to wire 2000 DOLLARS to me.

The policy is evil and wicked.

Do you know the card rate is 240-250 naira per dollar? I mean when you withdraw from atm abroad, the rate is way higher than the official rate.

If we don't have dollars, why is estacode, subsidy andother top level government payments made in dollars?? The masses are just getting punished for the sins of the kleptocrats.

I don't mean application fee(s). I was referring to Form A for tuition. It is priority! Maybe your bankers arent advising you accordingly.

I wonder what this govt was smoking when they implemented such draconian and harsh policy.

the first thing was to provide dollar ATM cards for them first before implementing that wicked policy.

Guys stop wailing, CBN took the right descision. You can send money via ria., money gram, western union, transfast etc. Must tou use your naira denominated card abroad?

Yes bro. I also meant form A for tuition.
My brother's form A has been sitting in diamond bank for 2 weeks.
The cbn has not approved dollars to any bank in a while.
Banks are really dry right now. Ask anyone schooling abroad and know the truth

Nah bro, the policy is ill advised.
I can understand limiting the transaction but stopping the usage of naira card abroad is unwise.
I really can't keep explaining but the implication of this is too numerous.

1- ENCOURages money laundering
2- keeping cash at home or at hand can pose security risk
3- scares foreign investors. Why would an investor put dollars into nigeria if they can't make their dollars bavk.
4- will put alot of pressure on dollar thus, weakening the value of naira.

I could go oon but these ones are off the top.

I guess you were not thinking about the consequences of transformation agenda without an agenda or any positive transformation.
Nigerian forex would barely last for 9 months of based on on the reckless habits and policies developed under the government of the Jonathan.
Every single thing you buy in Nigeria that is not made in Nigeria put pressure on that reserve and the value of the Nigeria.
While somethings like medical equipment, medicine are essentials, many of the stuffs we imports like tomato paste, Rice, pots, spoon, knives, pans, pens, champagne are not.
With oil prices responsible for the FG's foreign reserve ( money sent by the diaspora mostly circulates in the black market or are withheld by commercial banks), the only good option is to stretch the dollars-in-hand for as long as possible while promoting local substitutes for thousand imported items and hoping for a recovery in oil prices.
The other option is outright devaluation with the attendant social consequences. For an economy dependent on importation , a sudden government sanctions devaluation will lead to more poverty, increase in prices, inflation, rise in interest rates and workers strikes demanding more salaries to based on the new realities. In the mean time, the other 95% who are not civil servant would have to bear the brunt and the cost.
The last option( which I am beginning to support) is to allow Nigerians have their ways and continue with their delusion of transformation and greatness.
Let them chop all the dollars in 6 month and have a taste of what it means

This never fails. Anytime I want to swear of this forum I get to read an enlighten post from a well versed person.

Thanks.

Dullards like you need to know that monetary policies are the right of CBN governors and notvthe President. It is only with this dull Emefiele that the CBN started taking directives from the commercial banks that they are supposed to supervise and direct. Sanusi Lamido Sanusi and Sholudo won mant reputable international awards across the world for their policies, but this Emefiele is even yet to win a dubious one that some 419 Nigerians even gives. With dead brains like yours, Emefieke will be looking like some brainy guy. Slow brains appoints slow brains; hence GEJ's appointment of Emefiele. You should approach him for job.

A lot of us here don't understand what's going on. Nigeria is in a big mess, desperate measures need to be taken.

It's easy to go with the group calling the idea stupid but that's only because we are ignorant and short sighted or maybe selfish.

Pls find out why, do a research as to the implications and impact of the reasons behind the policy. You'll be shocked.

The number of Nigerians the policy would significantly affect (negatively)is still a minority compared to the entire populace.

At the same time, the government needs to look for more ways to find solutions to the economic crisis and fast too.

One way.... loots, thefts must be refunded and prudently managed going forward.

So that they can run down the forex ( dollars, pounds and euros) in circulation and inside the vaults of the CBN.
Abi no be so.
For once, I am getting to a point where I think buhari should allow the typical Nigerian( ignorant, shortsighted, self centred and selfish) to have his way.
If they had put half as much effort into fighting the ills in the country, things would definitely not have been like this.
Simply put, Buhari should allow the materialistic and ignorant Nigerian ( almost all) to have his way and consume like he wants.
In 5- 9 months, he will be lucky find an ATM coughing naira. Not to talk to of dollars.
$29 billion foreign reserve with many thieves waiting to change the naira to dollars would not last 6 months.

read what u just wrote, u also part of the ignorant and short sighted Nigerian.

every responsible govt before coming out with tough policies such as this, already have measures to curtail the sufferings that such policy would bring. but in buhari's Nigeria, we are told to bear the pains. do u think that does rich and powerful who have various connections in govt would suffer from this policy.

only Fidelity bank(might be wrong), has stated that customers can get a USD dominated card to do their dollar transactions. now how would those in foreign countries get this card, probably come back to Nigeria.

the responsible thing for the govt to do was to give a time frame when the policy would kick off, allowing people to get their USD cards, and get prepared.

Another silly thing is they didnt restrict how much people can deposite in a month, just the withdrawal grin

The CBN board will continue to develop mumu approach to solve our economic problems except Buhari's govt address the foundational issues: MASSIVELY ENCOURAGE CREATIVITY. What magic can cbn do when we buy as a nation and sell almost nothing beside oil.

This is just the bottomline of all these economic theory cbn is trying to solve. Sell more buy less and we will become the richest nation in the world.
