The Igbo: Our Position on Biafra •We can no longer continue to pretend that all is well when some groups capitalize on our sad experience of the past to try to railroad us into fighting another avoidable civil war •The number of protesters should be a warning signal to the Federal Government not to dismiss the Biafra issue with a wave of the hand, •The youths started agitations for Biafra because of the feeling by Ndigbo that they would never get justice in Nigeria and that their leaders had been compromised •All these agitations are because of the refusal of the owners of Nigeria to restructure the country into true federalism.” By Agaju Madugba, Oghene Omonisa, Emeka Mamah, Francis Igata (Enugu), Nwabueze Okonkwo (Onitsha), Anayo Okoli (Umuahia), Peter Okutu (Abakaliki), Jimitota Onoyume (Port Hacourt), Vincent Ujumadu (Awka) & Ugochuchukwu Alaribe (Aba). I totally agree, but I disagree with everything biafra at least for the present, what exactly is that marginalisation we all talking about, simply cos goodluck Jonathan who wasn't even an igbo man lost the election, suddenly we Igbos can't take it any longer. It's a big shame. Kids who didn't witness the war nor did their mothers aer screaming secession and threatening violence. It depicts modern day Igbos are ignorant and clearly should stick to the shops, but as an igbo man who is an intellectual I believe in the future of the igbo man whether in one Nigeria or its divisions. Biafran agitation currently is untimely and not based on sound judgement |

Eddygourdo:Are you seriously asking about how igbos are marginalized in Nigeria? This agitation was,is,and will never be about Jonathan's election loss, the day you rule that out is the day you understand the plight of ndigbos. |

vayne:how come throughout Jonathan 6years in power there wasn't any such agitation even though that man did nothing of note for we the Igbos, do u expect things to be handed to you simply cos you are Igbo, mbanu nwanna you must work, strategies, plan and execute things against all odds. The Nigerian political sphere has been a playing field and free for all, biko how did the igbo race become politically important, how did we perform if not woefully, simply because we failed in Nigerian politics we want to rule ourselves. That's the behaviour of cowards and failures. My two cents |

Eddygourdo:The agitation never died, when do you think massobthat have spent close to 6yrs in prison were arrested?radio Biafra started since 2014,it was buhari, the oba of Lagos and others that weren't careful with thier choice of words and public conducts that fueled the agitation... Not to talk of appointments where there is no single Igbo service chief. These are people who talk before they think. |

Eddygourdo:stop repeating these nonesense that had been debunked several times. Kanu's arrest and continued detention without trial is the cause of the protests. Radio Biafra was on air throughout GEJ's tenure, buhari's use of millitary force in a democratic society is the reason it got more publicity now |

My questikn is how prepared are the ibos for this; u guys need to really count the cost before taking any rash step; I perceive this is just a manipulation of d minds a selected few because if ur leaders av been compromised nd do nt share ur thoughts then it means u r a long way from home on dis |

Abi ooo...It's like chelsea saying because they are now carrying last in EPL, they want to leave with man u, liverpool and Arsenal and create their own league. Why didnt they leave the year they won EPL. Igbos are smart in business I give them that. But not so good in politics and diplomacy from the look of things. Stick to the program, re-strategize, you will rise |

It amaze me when we Nigerians don't see the hand writing on the wall, Lack of seriousness are threatening our existent as a human being and as a country. We are here on nairaland insulting one another when our beloved country is on fire , My people, this was how boko haram started no one then took them serious now where are we with boko haram..I am a proud Ibo in as much as I don't want the division of our country and i don't want Nigeria to go into another war, We as a country have to be careful how we go about dealing this Biafran issues as we say a hungry man is an angry man .. This is the time for our ruling class to come together and find the lasting solution to this problem before its too late. As i mentioned i don't want the Nigeria division , but we should understand that it is the right of any individual or group to call for self determination it is time again for our leaders to think deep and take this people serious instead of a leader like Obasanjo calling them miscreants other calling them jobless this kind of name calling we never lead us anyway instead dooms days await us.. |

Eddygourdo:My friend you see you are not understanding the big picture , I know you don't support the agitation for Biafra I'm not faulting your stand on Biafra no, every Igbo can never be for Biafra, but where so many people, you included are getting this agitation wrong is equating it with Jonathan election lost, Biafran didn't start because of Buhari, it has been there. Jonathan never engaged Kanu in that way, he avoided all you are seeing right now. But what Buhari did was played into Kanu trap by his one sided appointment excluding the igbo from his cabinets when he made the 95% comment in America i was so disappointed and he still carried it out and also arresting Kanu was the worst mistake of this government Kanu was not popular in Nigeria until his arrest. I myself I'm not a big fan of Biafra agitation and i'm not against either I'll tell you why . If i am in position of power what i will agitate for is true federalism and i have this feeling that Biafra agitation meant be the turning point for our country to go back and think hard how to restructure the country for the betterment of all. When you question how the igbo's are marginalized i will tell you, In as much as i don't live in the country i grow up there. Nigerian government has been marginalizing our people after independence and that get worst after the war, The policies of Nigeria government are not favorable to us . Have you ask yourself why there was no international airport in the southeast until Enugu, they just up graded just recently, as much as they call it international, they only allowed one major airline to operate what is that . Lagos seaport is over crowded why don't they make use of Portharcourt or Warri instead they restrict the activities on those port i know they are not in southeast but it will be tremendous value to southeast/southsouth . Look at the issue of the second Niger bridge for years even in the eighties government after government has promise to build it since then they have planed and finish constructing river Benue bridge with tax payers money without tolling, but you will pay N200 for 25 years, that is if they built it, where in Nigeria today that tolling in federal roads exist are you telling me that river benue bridge is more important then second niger bridge, 80% of federal road in southeast are dead trap , have you seen the restructuring of the Nigeria customs, its only southsouth/southeast got single digit with southeast getting the lowest 4. In one Obasanjo regime some communities in Imo state was divided for instance Egbema was divided north and south , south have lots of oil it was added to River state while the north stayed in Imo state this are some of the systematic policies they are using to slow developments in our zone, Do you know how many students that was denied admission in southeast because of quota where someone with 36 score will get admitted in federal universities against 180 why not play on a level playing field for all are we not Nigerians. This are why people are agitating for Biafra you may not like it and that does not make them coward or failure as you put it . Its there right do you want me to continue . Please stop the name calling... |

jamjo:ok Bro you have your points, I have an issue about the methods of actualising biafra and also the plans of the Biafrans, you reside outside the country, can you just decide in a night to relocate permanently to Nigeria, I doubt that, you must plan, strategise on many things solely because you would not want people to laugh at you if your decision to relocate turns out flawed. I haven't yet been privy to concrete information about the plans of biafra, how exactly we won't be one a laughing stock if we secede and fail. I agree with you though that the agitation could provide a catalyst to Nigeria practicing true federalism. Maybe or maybe not. I am not a name calling fellow, am only giving my people a taste of the medicine we would receive if we fail as a country biafra |

Eddygourdo:. Did I just hear you call yourself an intellectual? You are a big shame to the Igbo nation for displaying this level of ignorance. GEJ was still in power when BZM went to VIOLENTLY SEIZE FRCN Enugu and declare Biafra republic in 2013. GEJ lost the election as far back as March but protests NEVER happenened till late October, how dare you attribute it to GEJ's loss if not for your SELF-DELUSION. Now let me enlighten you, six service chiefs, NO IGBO, over 40 high level political appointment, NO IGBO, ethnic cleansing via lopsided promotion in customs NE and NW 51 officers NC and SW 29 officers, SS 10 officers and SE 4 officers. Are the hausa/fulanis more intelligent, educated or knowledgeable than the Igbos? Answer, you that feign ignorance of Igbo marginalization. What is the mode and standard for admission into Fed Univ in the South viz-a-viz North? Where is Federal Presence in SE apart from the recently approved int'l status accorded Enugu airport OVER 54 years after independence. The SE has the lowest no of both states and LGAs and am sure you know the RESOURCES are SHARED among those TIERS of govt. Am sure you also know that the Igbos have lowest no of Legislators in the National Assembly as a result of the no of states they have. Mr Intellectual I can go on and on but I don't have the luxury of time. Wake up, your brain is being used by the enemy. Finally Nnamdi kanu had been operating Radio Biafra since GEJ admin but was not arrested only to be arrested by a tyrant who refused to release him despite two subsisting court orders. Pls you may choose to continue wallowing in your ignorance but don't infect others with it, Thanks. |
