Question to unilag:

Media being very vast and reaching all aspects of information technology from telephone to telegrams. ... from wireless electro waves to television.
We know media still has 2 arms, private media and public media...private media being classified communication channels used by military and law enforcement and public being open channels for civilians and the general public.

Would you say both arms of media could be better managed to bring a well balanced all round media where sensitive info would be respected and screened prior to release and probably doctored so as to protect persons involved or stop the spread pf propaganda so as not to help foster desires for acts of terrorism?

Yes, that is why I opined that some sets of rules should be made and anyone that violates it, would face the law to serve as deterrent to others.

Yes,both arms can be well managed to regulate the information they pass. Just as we have NBC- Nigeria Broadcasting Commission that regulates the broadcasting industry by Act no. 38 of 1992 as amended by Act no. 55 of 1999

Yabatech this question is for you. We are aware that the reason why terrorism is much talked about today is due to the issues of loss of life associated with it.

Media evolution has and is still growing, from simple letter writing on paper to the internet. War being a form of terrorism, have acts of terror today in the modern age caused more deaths and propaganda than acts of terror from the 18th to the 20th century?

Let me run and chook mouth...

When you say the media isn't helping matters in resolving the issue of terrorism, what about the undercover journalist that risk their life to meet with this terrorist in order to negotiate ceasefire and kind of persuade them to give in to peace?
Correct me if I'm wrong, we use to have journalist that go undercover to talk to these terrorist, and even show the living condition of the hostages held captive by terrorist.

Also, journalist bring on security agents to discuss several security mesures to take whenever they smell any act that might lead to the unleash of terror.

The media also sensitize the audience on certain things in order to shatter the beliefs held by these terrorist, in order to combat thought that might lead to exhibition of terror act...

Kudos to y'all... Now this is one of those reasons I will visit nairaland, instead of seeing celebrity gist we should do more of educational stuffs...I've learnt something today from this topic...
