solid3: Again, why is it stewpid and unacceptable? The drop in price in fuel has made it cheaper to import fuel....and as a result prices have fallen. (I happen to believe that fuel subsidy must go, and I agreed with its removal in 2012). I think that fuel should be sold at N150 per liter and above....ie subsidy goes. I also know most Nigerians won't like it. |

This is quite funny. Please which of the Television or Radio station will be selling at this price? We need to know so that we can go there and buy at the "Government Official Price" Meanwhile, the fuel stations are still hoarding and selling at N135 per litre. They sell from only one pump and you get to queue! 1 Like |

obailala: Maybe that's the intention, with the price still at N86.+ despite the crash. They know Nigerians are allergic to the removal of subsidy; we will eventually come to terms with high prices but God forbid the FG stops subsidizing petrol. They should be open and honest about it, though, let's know what to expect. |

An excerpt from Prof. Chinedu Nebo. Former minister of powers interview. There were people who decided that Nigerians would never benefit from the efforts of the previous administration. They fought, busted the pipes on a regular basis. We left capacity of more than 5,500 megawatts and we could barely keep the capacity of about 4,000 to 4,500 megawatts, and maximum production; sometimes they brought us down to the level of 2,000. So, on the average, just at about 4,000. Yet, we had 6,000 megawatt capacity. These people busted the pipes systematically at different places that it was so difficult to fix them. Each time, the gas companies said they were spending close to N100 million every month, to fix the pipelines. The turbines were not getting gas to be fired. Isn’t it amazing that from the first day the new government came in till today, not a single incident of vandalism has taken place? Only God knows those that decided that Nigeria would not have power. Everybody is now shouting: ‘we have power, we have power everywhere…’, but where did the power come from? It is from the work that we did, and thankfully, because they have stopped vandalising the gas pipelines, they recently hit 4,800 megawatts just a couple of weeks ago. That is something wonderful. We would have done that easily; we are getting to 5,000. In fact, by January this year, we had the capacity of 5,000.****** I think it is a wonderful thing that the present government is trying to recover from people who have defrauded the country, but sometimes too, the method can also be grievous, because as some of these things are being done, some of people who have done nothing at all are being embarrassed. To paint everybody black and to give an impression that everybody was a demon can’t be right. Some of us did our best for our country and we have always done that, and to be so vilified at every pronouncement discourages people. And I can tell you that it is going to be hard for many worthy sons and daughters of Nigeria to agree to serve this country again. And it is going to be tough for any African leader to hand over to the opposition because of the way things are happening right now because people are going to say; Oh!, if I concede and hand over, I am going to be hounded to death. And I think that is not right for our country that this happening 6 Likes 1 Share |

RaggedyAnn: True. Fact is, it makes sense to remove subsidy. But as GEJ found out.....people don't like the idea of paying high price for a ''commodity we produce''. If any government reduces fuel to N20 per liter.....everyone would cheer. Paying for it ......don't worry. Nigerians and awoof. 1 Like |
