Notice had been given to d shop owners long time ago. Even the state govt were compelled to build another shopping mall to replace this one if they want to demolish this. And the shopping mall had long been completed.

This is the highest height of wickness. Why did this state government not wait till about 3 weeks into this new year before carrying this operation to enable those that traveled for the celebration to come back? This is suicidal and indirect way of sending people back to village.

why are u so tribalistic. They were not owned by igbos even hausas had shops there
I patronize that market very often and i don't see a Hausa man who owns a shop there. The hausas are mainly kayas and mai guard in the market but they don't rent a shop there. They are squatters. However, there are only few yoruba and other tribes there.90% of shop owners in that market are ibos.

Don't forget igbos control 70% of the economy of Lagos and are 60% in population of lagos but yet gets their shops demolished by the minority Yorubas. Hmmm! but we wonder who really controls the economy of Lagos.

That market should have been demolished 20 years ago but they bribed their way through, my mother and host of others were not so lucky that time as their shops were demolished by the then military administration.
Stop! Those shops were demolished before and reconstructed and sold to the traders. The shops were built with zinc and wood. Then, there were frequent fire outbreak in the market before the military govt demolished it and built a concrete blocks and roofing therein.I am very familiar to that area.

They don't know what they are talking about, the shops in that market belongs to the LASG , the rent is 50 naira for the lock up shops, while the kick lamp is 20 naira and later reviewed upward, the government office is right there in the market so I just walk in with my mum's previous receipt to pay for our shop and we even pay on monthly basis.
Most owners had probably sold the few surviving shops to the current occupant after the first demolition exercise, out of fear that LASG will eventually demolish the market.
You too dey lie.
