Hi Speechless33, I am a Muslim and I know I might be the last kind of person you might want to get advice from. But then, I'd just try to advice you anyway. This is because sometimes, the solution to our problems may not really lie in the direction where we're searching through. I always like to have religious discussions not just to convince anyone but sometimes for the sake of seeking knowledge. The fact that I don't agree with a particular point doesn't mean I cant have knowledge about it. I know many will be surprised to see a non-christian fellow in a thread like this, but I'd like to make everyone understand that I'm not here to create any kind of enmity or problems around here. I'm here because of the OP's worries. I usually ask people a simple question, why do we actually practice the various religions we are practicing? Most of us could begin to give several reasons within our hearts but the simple truth is that most of us do because that is what we were born into and brought up with. We have been made to believe what they believe and most times majority of us eventually get very grounded in what we do. Think about it, if you were to be born in the northern part of this country where majority are muslims or if your parents were to be muslims, definitely, you will be practicing Islam and you will do anything to defend your faith. Regardless of this, we still find some set of people, defecting to other religions based on their personal reasons and it all begins when you begin to think and question some things about your belief. It's really important to note that the fact majority are doing a thing doesn't make it right and also the fact that you do something a way and it works for you doesn't also make it right. An example is idol worship, the fact that some people worship idols and their prayers are answered doesn't make idol worshiping right. Almighty God who created us Has the knowledge of everything. He created us and gave us rules and regulations to follow. Sin is simply going against the commandment of God Almighty. Just as Adam and Eve committed sin by going against the commandment of God, so also every human being who goes against the commandments of God has committed an sin. Death is not a consequence of sin but it is a sure reality which will overcome every creature in this world. God Who created the heaven and hell knows why He created them. Think about it, if we don't die, how are we going to be judged? It's absolutely obvious that the outcome of the judgement is what will differentiate the dwellers of the heaven from those of hell. If the heaven and the hell are going to be the final destinations, then we all need to ask ourselves what the real purpose of our creation is... No doubt everyone of us want to go to the heaven and the only way we can do that is to worship God Almighty our Creator alone and follow HIs commandments. The only way we commit sin is because satan the accursed creeps into our hearts and always tend to make us go against the commandments of God. That's why when we commit a sin, we need to repent and turn back to our Creator because He's the only One Who can forgive us and save us from satan. If you flash back, that's the same thing Adam and Eve did and God Almighty Who is The All Forgiving, The Merciful forgave them. He will always forgive us as long as we fall back to Him in sincere repentance... Islam is the ONLY non-christian faith which makes it an article of faith to believe in Jesus Christ(peace be upon him). No muslim is a muslim if he does not believe in Jesus Christ(peace be upon him). This is because he was a messenger and a Prophet of God Almighty. Islam is an arabic word derived from the arabic word 'slm, which means PEACE'. Islam by definition simply means "peace acquired through total submission to the will of Almighty God". Muslim is also an arabic word which by definition means "someone who totally submits his/her will to the will of Almighty God" For those who are really sincerely searching for the truth about the essence of our creation and looking for answers as regards some disturbing issues, kindly consult the Last and Final Revelation sent to the whole of humanity by God Almighty (The Noble Quran) through His Last and Final Prophet and Messenger (Prophet MUhammad, Peace Be upon him). Quran is the only religious scripture on the surface of the earth which still retains its original for since Its revelation over 1400 years back. Although, It was revealed through Prophet Muhammad(peace be upon him), every single word in It is God's. It's highly important to note that there is no compulsion in religion but at the same time, there's no harm in seeking for knowledge even if it's about what you don't believe in. Forget about how some unfortunate people try to paint Islam black, you just open the book and look sincerely into it and I pray you find your answers and guidance. |

Speechless3:Jeeeeezzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz...........it's like i'm in you and you're in me....This is exactly how i'm feeling and how i feel about the catholic church....now i just go to church to please my parents and keep their mind at ease but i find it very hard to believe in the teachings of something i was born with and grew up into...i also went to a catholic university but i guess it even weakened my faith more because i saw some disgusting things supposed priests and reverend sisters do, i've been baptized and i'm even a practicing communicant but i'm tired of all these recitiation of prayers (Litany of blessed virgin mary, the Rosary in general, benediction etc etc etc) (Like i'm in a cult) I Might become a jehovah witness soon (I like the way they go about their life...though they have a lot of controversy sorrounding them) |

danidee10:My dear, both of you are not in the same boat at all The former, grew up believing firmly the teachings and traditions passed to her, but said she is trapped in a pernicious cycle of sin, and want to overcome it. So she feel a change of church is necessary. But you, you grew up, having gotten enough sense feel that your parent's church is not teaching the truth you think is the truth. So every thing being done in the church is disgusting. My kind advise for you is PLEASE LEAVE, you are not the first to leave neither would you be the last. Be free. I think the Catholic church do not teach people not to leave. Be free and exercise your right. BTW, for many years till now, you haven't chosen the one to follow. This attitude of yours smacks of unseriousness on your path, contrasting to that of the OP. I would like to have some of your teaching which you belived is the truth. |

Kamxin:i truly believed in the teachings of the church, did ur eyes skip the parts were i said i was baptized and currently i'm still a practicing communicant...the decision is still up to me to LEAVE i so i don't need your advice....also i've been in the catholic circle all my life....Pry School was catholic, Secondary School was catholic, University was Catholic....i don't believe the whole church is disgusting i said the things i saw in the university...when did university == the catholic church...i know a lot of good priests and people in the catholic church so i'm not condemning the catholic church i will never condemn anybody cuz i know i'm not perfect....i have my own flaws and things that i have done in the past that i'm not proud of...nobody has the right to condemn anyone ....as for having some of my teachings that i believe is the truth...it's not some it's just one and it was stated in the bible LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOU LOVE YOURSELF aka TREAT OTHERS AS YOU WANT TO BE TREATED If everyone and every religion really followed this single truth the world will indeed be a better place |

danidee10:1 Corinthians 9:27New King James Version (NKJV) 27 But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. This is to remind you of what Paul is doing to remain valid. So it is a reminder of what every priest or sister is struggling to do. Every pastor or leader in any church is not a saint, don't tell me again next time that they are making you leave your church. I thought God commandment is: love of God and love of neighbor, why not tell us how you have been loving and leave priests and sisters to struggle with theirs. Op narration of her struggle to love God is sensational, a master piece on its own. Tow her path to true love of God |
| Re: Why I May Have To Leave The Catholic Church by danidee10(m): 11:59pm On Jan 07, 2016 |
Kamxin:You're very right....But they didn't follow that rule either (you have no idea of the humane things they did to people all in the name of the church i personally didn't see that as a struggle again they were just using God as a cover for their evil deeds)....God thought us to love our neighbors, how else do you expect me to love them again...i still obeyed their rules and endured all the hardships on me caused by them. we're all humans i can't just close my eye and pretend that some things don't happen at all...Even my Dad was once part of the Harvest committee in my church and i got to know about some of the embezzlement of church funds that go on there...I agree with you nobody is perfect we're all struggling in this guesthouse called humanity I truly believe in God but i believe humans have twisted his existence and his words for their own personal gain....I love talking to people like you who know their bible very well ![]() |

danidee10:Those are the handiwork of your parents. Your own is ''all these are not making sense at all'' Jehovah witness is making some sense, I might join. So they are waiting for you with open hands. danidee10:I thought this is what they're teaching in any Christian church, even the Catholic church you are about to leave. |

danidee10:My brother you have already condemned the church.......ur statements are contradictory.First you find it hard to believe in the teachings of the church u were born in den after @kamxin's assertions u say u truly 'believed' in most of her teachings, and moments later it is only one of Her teachings you believe in?Wonderful!that from a communicant?......which do we believe in?. when i see some things written by some so called 'Catholics' it makes me wonder if they ever were. Well i just have to conclude that in most of these cases the problem is nt with the churches but with the individuals. Quote me if you like but i won't reply u....go and think hard. |

@danidee, just to add something to what Kamxin is telling you. You said you're tired of litanies and benediction as if your in a cult. Perhaps, you won't also like heaven so much. Read the whole of Revelations, including: Rev4:8 And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and inside. Day and night without ceasing they sing, “Holy, holy, holy, the Lord God the Almighty, who was and is and is to come.” My advice to you is to read your bible and develop your relationship with Jesus. Also, I want you to reflect on the words you say at mass and at every Catholic prayer or devotion. E.g benediction, rosary etc. Mean what you say. Let the meaning sink into your heart and flow from it. Don't just recite. If you don't understand the meaning of any prayer or devotion, ask. If you don't understand the reason, ask. The same advice, I extend to speechless3. Remember that Jesus taught us the "Our Father." Yet even that prayer would have little or no effect on or lives if we didn't apply my suggestions above...and just recite it. I'm Catholic. I say all the prayers you talked about. I see the effect in my life. I have a relationship with God-Jesus. I don't say what I don't mean to him. I try to do what he likes. When I fail, I apologize to him in confession or out of confession when it's not a mortal sin. I share everything with him. My joys, sadness, successes, failure etc. I also try to have a great relationship with his mother and all his friends - the saints and his children on earth (communion of Saints). Jesus always responds by being there for me. I would like to speak with you. My number is 08189106929. If you both want me to call pls give me your numbers. Note that I'm not here to convince you to remain Catholic (only the Holy Spirit can do that). I'm here to try to clarify some areas you might be confused/uninformed about. Everyone is free to leave or join the faith...but no one is exempted from the positive or negative temporal or eternal consequences. |

I like the path you've taken to develop yourself spiritually, Personally I don't let the whole religion stuff get to my head, but dosent mean to let go of spirituality totally" Beyond religion I think you should just strive to do what's right and seek the face of God, regardless your denomination, I'm also a Catholic but it dosen't stop me from going to fellowship with other churches" there are a lot of people out there we might be looking up to as religious leaders but would end up leading us astray, at least Wisdom helps u know what's right and leave what is not* |
| Re: Why I May Have To Leave The Catholic Church by habicab: 10:31pm On Jan 08, 2016 |
danidee10:Thanks for your comment about Islam. I've often come across several non-muslims who tell me same thing you pointed out here, but if I ask them to present the verses concerning the issues being raised, I found out that it's either they are quoting out of context or they they just pick a phrase of a sentence failing to read in full just to back their ill points. An example of such is in Quran chapter 107:4 which says (so woe unto the performers of prayers) The verses of the chapter is as follows.. In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful 1. Have you seen him who denies the Recompense? 2. That is he who repulses the orphan (harshly) 3. And urges not the feeding of Al-miskeen (the poor) 4. So woe unto the performers of prayers (hypocrites) 5. who delay their prayer from their stated fixed times, 6. Those who do good deeds only to be seen (of men) 7. And refuse Al-Maun (small kindness e.g salt, sugar, water, etc.) From this chapter, anyone who just reads out verse 4 will come out and say the Quran even places a curse on those who pray not knowing the verse is pointing to a particular set of people. So, I'd like you to kindly point out to me the horrible things you have read about Islam and I,d be glad to show to you the true message of Islam. Please, I'd be expecting your response... Thanks. |

Speechless, your problem is this "you have not forgiven yourself,u need to completely empty your heart of guilt, remember God loves you,and is always waiting for us to turn to him.you are not worst than St Augustine, he turned his life around and came back to the church after 32 years of living in sin.you should try fasting it always helps us control the urges sin.Have you heard of Dr Scott Hahn? You need to listen to him and other converts truely explain the teachings of the church, sola scriptural and sola fides, some Catholics do not understand the teachings of the church, they will help u understand.May God bless you ,keep you from every evil and bring you to everlasting life,Amen |
