Visa delayed yesterday.just one consular interviewed students yesterday.VO was just dashing out white paper to the guys, him no send the ladies at all.one small lady was every crying and begging the consular.I was second to the last on the line.got to my turn.
VO:Good morning sir
Me:Good morning to you sir
VO:pass your doc and place ur right hand fingers
VO: how did you learn about this school?

Me:I learnt about murray state university after carryying out an extensive online research using Internet tools and academic websites like usnews.com to know the school's ranking and also graduatereview.com amd Princeton review.com to streamline schools to my area of interest and also to ascertain if the school meets my academic profile; goals and ambitions.

VO:ok,so why murray state univesity?
Murray state university has a unique disigned course curriculum that is pratical oriented cuts...

Vo:that's what the school's website says about the school,I mean out of all the whole schools in US why did you pick murray state university?

Me:there's an on going research in the department of OSHT that aligns with my field of intrest and the school is quiet affordable by my sponsor.
VO: ok,and typed for some mins, and said sorry u are not qualified for this blabla blala
Abeg gurus, where did I go wrong again?

I am not a guru tho. but I think the reason for choosing MSU you gave at the second time was what you should have said initially, also you did not mention the research topic. Pls dust yourself up and give it a trial again, pray and believe God for grace and favour. The Lord is your strength

Sorry, I guess you need special prayer to scale through. The kind of prayer when a VO is interviewing you, he or she would be happy to see you.

I think that like so many others when asked "why this school"
You gave a rehearsed, prepared speech, using complicated phrases.
Rather that your thoughts in your own words.
These visa officers are trained, and have heard the same prepared speeches hundreds of times!

Not condemning you, just stating facts.

What school did you apply to? Dont pin your hope(s) on one school only> Apply to 3-4 more
olawoleolayinka:
Happy new year to you all
The school I'm applying for my masters in public health does not required GRE. Do I still need to write it ?
I have a valid US visiting visa and used it to travel twice already, each visit i spent just 7 days.
Now, do I have a chance to get an F1 visa approved ?
Secondly, if I am not approved of F1 visa, what happens to my B1B2 visa ? Will it be cancelled ?
Thirdly, must I get admission from 3 or 4 schools ? I'm actually planning to secure an admission from one school.
Thanks

When i was reading ur transcript, It felt like a rehearsed script for a play. your reply of how did you learn about the sch> mentioning Usnews etc, like for real it will get boring in the VOs ears. their work is already monotonous enough to hear regular responses like that. Read thru transcripts here but give a very different unique response (even if the questions are alike) from your heart. about the research u talked (if truly there is), u cud have mentioned one specifically + the name of the professor. and I think its beta to tailor ur answers to problem solving application in Nigeria. that can circumvent the whole interview to your gain. Just work on your replies and let it be unique and BRIEF. Your program is occupational health & safety bah? @fregkay

@fregkay,

Sorry about your denial. I believe the problem with your interview was how rehearsed all your answers sounded (even the one you gave about how you learnt about MurraySU) and evidently the VO saw right through.

Best of luck in your next interview, you'll make it.

Hi everyone,

I have got a question: Please, what is the best (and probably cheapest) way for someone who graduated from a school of nursing to further her studies in the US? I don't know jack about medical/nursing sciences.

cc Imperiouxx, MsNas, Zeezah, slimmy05, bbdd, bigFrancis21...
it is easy but the person will prolly have to apply for Bachelors in nursing. have to take some pre reqs classes, she can evaluate her school of nursing certificate. some schools will prolly accept some of her naija courses. the cheapest way is for her to take the the pre reqs class in a community college and transfer to a uni. she can get some kind of scholarship as well. The only thng is that nursing is not under STEM and getting a hospital to file might be hard. its always better if one is a resident.

Based on my little experience I got here; make a research on your course website, you may use that instead of usnews.com , princeton.com and all that. Everyone is using the websites and VOs are tired of hearing that everyday

Sorry for this bro....

Instead of the banal usnews research stories,Google the name of a North American association that aligns with ur area of interest and also check online for journals on this field.

The title of the research and name of the prof/Dr in charge is very important.

Hello everyone.
I was denied F1 visa for a masters in public health November 2014. After that I've been practicing in one of the gulf countries for about 1 year. I'm planning on applying to Kaplan medical for a 3 month usmle course.
Dunno if it's advisable applying F1 visa from a foreign country (I've a valid residency permit) or is it better coming back to 9ja?
What are my chances given the previous denial? Who knows how reputable Kaplan is in terms of F1 visa?
Gurus in the house (Big Francis, Walspring, Zeezah, Impreioux, Slimmy, Just wise, warri boy, etc) your input would be highly appreciated. Thanks. cool

Read this stuff, I dont know where he specifically mention Nigeria (Not my concern though). Below is what actually said.
Trump spoke bitterly as he said: “African Americans are very lazy. The best they can do is gallivanting around ghettoes, lamenting how they are discriminated. These are the people America doesn’t need. They are the enemies of progress. Look at African countries like Kenya for instance, those people are stealing from their own government and go to invest the money in foreign countries. From the government to opposition, they only qualify to be used as a case study whenever bad examples are required. How do you trust even those who have ran away to hide here at the United States hiding behind education? I hear they abuse me in their blogs but I don’t care becauseeven the internet they are using is ours and wecan decide to switch it off from this side. These are people who import everything including matchsticks. In my opinion, most of these African countries ought to be recolonizedagain for another 100 years because they know nothing about leadership and self governance.”“I promise to make America great again by restoring our dignity that we have since lost through Obama. The more reason why I still believe that he, and his Kenyan brothers and sisters should be deported back to Kenya to make America safe.”

if you can prove residency and strong ties in the foreign country you are based currently then you can apply for F1. I know 2 people who came to the usa with Kaplan usmle. I couldn't ave believed if I haven't meet them. They ended up dropping out of Kaplan because of the fee and prolly they can read and pass it without tutorial. Kaplan is just like a tutorial or lesson. this peeps are now in a community college just to buy enough time to get a slot. it is quite easy to get visa with Kaplan usmle than applying for masters. so you can give Kaplan a try.

Whether Trump or not, America is still America and every politician is slippery.

Illegal immigrants also contribute positively to the economy. So "a coin has two sides."
