Prof. Sagay goofed bruv. As a constitutional and seasonal lawyer he should have known that the recent agitation for Biafra doesn't reflect the larger population of Igbos.

Nnamdi Kanu and his clandestine radio outfit has been in operation long before Buhari became president and the recent Biafra protest is mainly to seek for his release. There could still have been protest if he was incarcerated by GEJ.

I'm not holding brief for the injudicious protesters but they represent only a little fraction of Igbos and shouldn't be a criterion or touchstone to imply that Ndi Igbo as a people are antagonistic towards Buhari coz they lost out in crucial portfolio in his government.

What Prof. Sagay imputation means is that, Buhari intentionally sidelined Igbos from his government, for whatever reasons, and suggesting that mr. President is against national cohesion, he's a factional leader and sowing the seed of division in a country that should be united. I'm sure and want to believe Buhari doesn't share his view.

I see your point, nevertheless, threat to the man's life is not a proper response and you should also condemn that.

Prof. Sagay what exactly are you screaming about? As an erudite scholar one would have expected you to bring to this raging discuss a deep argument devoid of street language that will stimulate the igbo intellectual to engage you in the so call debate. Instead you chose to join the media war against ndiigbo for daring to show their Republican nature by failing to join the hypocritical bandwagon in the 2015 general election. Politics of deceit is alien to this people. They have never pretended to have deleted the memory of 300,000 murdered in cold blood in the 1966 massacre in the north. They never pretended to forgive the genocide of over 2 million of her children who lost their lives because their fathers decided at a point to rather die with his gun fighting on his feet, than kneel forever in a country that can not guarantee their safety. From oba akiolu to that mad doctor from Kano to Prof. Sagay one thing is clear the igbophobia is real and deeper than we care to believe but trust me these people are not easily cowed.

Constitutional lawyer and Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Anti- Corruption, Prof. Itse Sagay (SAN) has raised alarm over what he called the insults and death threats he has received from Igbo people for expressing his opinion on the renewed agitation for Biafra republic during President Muhammadu Buhari’s tenure.

Speaking with Daily Independent on Saturday, the erudite legal practitioner said rather than threatening him and the peace of the entire country, those who have contrary views to his should engage him in a debate and present their views in a civilised and refined manner.

Sagay, who said he stood by his comments that the the Igbo having lost out at the federal level decided to resurrect Biafra so as to get appointments they don’t deserve under Buhari also added that he will not take the threats lightly because according to him “they have serious security implications”.

“All I did was expressed my views on a national issue. If they have contrary views, they should come forward with it instead of using abusive words particularly threatening people’s lives. Infact, they are not only threatening me but the entire country that we shall see what happens whenever they start whatever they are planning”.

” It is a very irrational process and environment in which to operate. I thought we were engaging in a debate”.

“Little did I know I was dealing with desperadoes who will not tolerate any other views that are not consistent with theirs in their headlong determination to cause confusion in the country. It is very sad”.

“I won’t take the threats lightly because most of the things said to me has serious security implications and I will do something about it” he said.

Who is threatening Oga prof Sagah,whos only expressing his opinion to justify his first ever appointment at federal level; he had been a regional operator all along, and Baba has just made him taste the sweet federal sitting allowance. He and the likes should be reminded that agitation for Biafra, is not a general Igbo position and it's wrong to generalize like saying the Igbo. Ipob, is like other agitators and pressure groups.

You receive insults from Igbos because you over-generalise by attempting to lump all Igbos in the same boat with IPOB, which can be described as an ethnic militia group, that does not represent the vast majority of Igbos.
I thought that being an intellectual, you would have advised your Principal, PMB, to find a way to diffuse the youthful exuberance being displayed by IPOB, through engaging them in useful discussions, in order to ascertain the genuineness of their grievances or otherwise.
If their grievances turn out to be genuine, you attempt to correct it so that the IPOB agitation will die a natural death, but if its otherwise, then you search out the culprits who are responsible for misleading the IPOB youths and deal with them.
Criminalising an entire ethnic group because of some over-zealous youths smirks of ethnic bigotory of the highest order, which is very unbecoming of a Professor of law.
