Discrimination Against Graduates From State Universities by watzz(op): 12:31pm On Jan 12, 2016
I got this job link from a friend and decided to apply but was surprised when I discovered only a selected handful of federal and private universities can apply. What do we call this? University or Educational Discrimination?

Here is the job link: mobile./job/442817/graduate-trainee-lorache-consulting-in-lagos?ref=/

OP soon those of us living outside Lagos will open a thread to say we are discriminated against based on location. cheesy. There isn't any such thing.
Just relax, there is no discrimination taking place in Nigeria, if you see real discrimination you won't just put that screen grabbed stuff, you will wail! grin

Until you wail, let's not weep cheesy

A private business outfit has the right to determine the kind of employee it wants to employ
Re: Discrimination Against Graduates From State Universities by Craven: 2:41pm On Jan 12, 2016
Hello watzz

Look at it this way. This FMCG firm is a private outfit looking to employ people to be a part of their company. They would train these people, pay their remuneration, take care of health insurance, and offer other benefits. Considering all these things, do you honestly think this firm will not exercise their right to pick the caliber of people they want to employ? It might seem unfair, but it is not wrong. If I am investing in someone, I have the right to pick the kind of person I want to invest in.

The fact that graduates of other schools are ignored does not in any way mean they are the inferior class of graduates. It only means this FMCG firm will miss out on all the incredible people these other universities offer. And it seems that is a risk they are willing to take. So why then should anyone waste their time wailing about this firm's decision?

The reality is no one owes anyone anything in the job market. If you feel you are being discriminated against, look elsewhere. It's that simple. Complaining about it is just an utter waste of time.

Well Honestly, what do you expect....

Not all Nigerian Universities have the same Standards, some Nigerian state universities are just ........ lipsrsealed lipsrsealed
So, don't blame a prospective employer looking for graduates from top notch schools. To get a first class or Second class upper in schools like OAU, UI, Ilorin E.tc no be beans at all!, whereas some schools are churning out first class graduates like sachet water grin You will see 25 first class students out of 100 graduates, lol.
.... Even Davido had a Second Class Upper in Babcock shocked cheesy cheesy

So Yeah, Employers know GOOD SCHOOLS.
