A lot of revelations have come to light on how the $2.1 billion meant for arms purchase was allegedly diverted into the presidential campaign of former president and the candidate of the party in the 2015 general elections, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan. Former Minister of State for Finance, Bashir Yuguda, Col. Mohammed Sambo Dasuki (retd), a former National Security Adviser (NSA); Shuaibu Salisu, a former Director of Finance and Administration NSA’s office, Attahiru Dalhatu Bafawara, a former governor of Sokoto State; Sagir Attahiru, his son and Dalhatu Investment Limited are a few men in the Jonathan administration that are currently being tried for the offence. Months into the commencement of the investigation, the man who was at the helms while the looting was taking place, Dr. Goodluck Jonathan has refused to say a word. In light of this, INFORMATION NIGERIA has gathered up the reasons why Jonathan must speak up now…

– The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) under which Jonathan emerged as president has become an object of public ridicule and harsh criticisms and everyone in the party, whether innocent or guilty are being tagged as corrupt. In light of this shame, Jonathan must speak up to redeem his party, whose goodwill he enjoyed for years.

– If the PDP organised a dinner where billions of naira was raised money for Jonathan’s campaign, what then is the explanation for the armsgate? Jontahan must say.

– Jonathan can not act aloof in all these as these alleged crimes were perpetuated under his watch. He should clarify whether he instructed his former NSA to divert the money meant to fight Boko Haram into his campaign.

– Jonathan in the last administration held the highest authority, therefore must answer questions on what he knows or doesn’t know about the chilling revelations being made on the $2.1 billion arms deal.

– Jonathan had said that his government never awarded any contract in the range of US$2bn, so where did this money come from? Jonathan must tell Nigerians.

– It is disturbing to start to think it possible that one man (Dasuki), all by himself could have disbursed such mind-boggling amount without the approval of the President and Commander in Chief. If he (Dasuki) actually did it all on his own, then Jonathan must tell us where he traveled to or if Dasuki was the President in his stead.

Jonathan can no longer keep mum on this issue, it will do neither Jonathan nor Nigeria any good. We all want to get to the root of this matter, therefore let our former President speak up now or what do you thinkhuh

. I want to know if its possible for a president to make approval for disbursement of funds without proper documentation, if no then Dasuki is the biggest fool.

All I see is someone using EFCC to hide a glaring case of cowardice, if you ask me. as far as am concern, dis govt is not fighting corruption.

If Buhari has a watertight case against Jonathan and indeed any other functionary in the past administration, he should do the needful by going through the courts of the land and not hiding under EFCC and DSS to cover his obvious lapses.

The whole saga is getting embarrassing.

The giant of Africa or some inconsequential, nondescript banana republic?
fighting corruption in dis govt is more like witch hunting. if they have a real corruption case concerning d arms deal saga, they for don approach d courts with hard core evidence. but all they ar doing is fight corruption through news papers.

Silence is consent if you are asked a question not when noone has asked you anything. A good lawyer will tell you to only speak when spoken to.

MrMcJay:
In law, "Qui tacet consentit". It translates to mean 'silence is consent'.

Jonathan has two choices and I hope his lawyers advise him accordingly. He can either elect to be a prosecution witness or to join Dasuki as a co-accused person. In any case, Dasuki won't hesitate to rubbish him if given the opportunity.

If he is a prosecution witness, he woldn't need expensive legal services as he is on the government's side and his reputation remains intact. Hence, lawyer no go chop.
If he foolishly decides to join Dasuki as a co-accused person, he would need expensive legal services and lawyer go chop plenty.

If you were Jonathan's lawyer, which path would you advise him to follow?

IM PRETTY SURE JONATHAN WAS NOT AWARE OF ANYTHING NEAR THIS MIND-BOGGLING ARM SAGER. I WANT YOU MY READERS TO REMEMBER THAT COL. DASUKI WAS ACTUALLY PREPARING TO TAKE OVER FROM JONATHAN COME 2019, AND WITH THAT IN HIS MIND, AND IN THE MIND OF JONATHAN'S FOLLOWERS, DASUKI WAS BEING WORSHIP AS PRESIDENT IN WAITING. ALL THESE PUT TOGETHER MADE BOTH JONATHAN AND THE THEN PDP VIEWED HIM OGA HENCE BOTH CBN GOVERNOR AND OPOLO EYES MINISTER ALLOWED HIM TO USE MONEY AS HE LIKES IN ORDER TO BE THE GOOD BOOK OF TOMORROW PRESIDENT.

I have said it before, and I will continue to say it. Any enlightened Nigerian who opens his/her mouth to say that Dasuki acted independently should have his/her heard examined. The man received orders from above to divert the money for PDP campaigns.

I believe he has revealed this to the EFCC already, but because it is Jonathan, the EFCC and the presidency are treading carefully. This will not last forever though, because Dasuki will talk in court. He will not go down alone. Somebody mark my words and this day.

Una no go allow this man of peace to enjoy his well deserved rest. Buhari has been keeping silient on burning national issues you never azk him to talk.
k

Jonathan should be left to enjoy his deserved peacehuh I can't believe this is coming from a sane being!
1. Does it occur to you that we are talking about $2.1 billion public funds being stolen by few?
2. Does it occur to you that some of the culprits have admitted taking the monies and indicted Jonathan?
3. Does it occur to you that our Soldiers were poorly equipped and sent to war front to combat well armed Terrorists and our soldiers and civilians were being slaughtered while Monies meant to equip the soldiers were being shared by cronies of Jonathan?
4. Does it occur to you that point 3 above tantamount to War Crime, and Jonathan can be persecuted for war crimes if any one takes up this case to international Court of Justice?
5. Does it occur to you that Olissa Mettuh has boldly claim that N400milion was paid to him by Jonathan as payment for a private deal he did for Jonathan? Does it occur to you that the source of the alleged monies was public funds and definitely not Jonathan's money?

Am greatly dismayed that people can't overcome their gullible sentiments in the face of glaring truth.
Nigeria is continually corrupt because ithe very citizens that are supposed to hold public officials accountable are the very ones defending these corrupt officials and emboldening them to engage in their practices.
So long as the government is a product of its citizenry, the people will always deserve the kind of govt they have.

Sharrap. You are wasting your time. You are not the one to tell him when to speak.

If there was anything to indict him with the efcc and dss would have gotten it from the guys currently in their custody.
Your efcc boss has said no document shows he signed money frudulently. And dasuki would have implicated gej by now if he had a way. Or dont u think d efcc would have offered him several deal to implicate gej?

Only u concluded that he was clueless of what was going on around him and yet you still wont leave him alone. You want him to confess he stole some money like the hausa men around him. No guy you might just die of your frustration as u wait endlessly.

The only problem with gej is that he was too good to be a nigerian president. He was patrotic and believed beyond doubt that every other public officer around him was as patriotic and that was his undoing.

Even you would have stole away the heavens if you were in gejs shoes. But sorry guy he did not steal, he may have been oblivious of the thieves around him but he did not steal.

The only reason Nigerians find Dasukigate humorous is they believe it wasn't their money and opportunities that are being stolen

This is because they don't pay tax.

The moment tax starts to bite the average Nigerian in hard places, he will understand the concept of " our money" and will hold any governments of the day to strict accountability. Until then, let us all live under the illusion that Nigeria's money isn't our birthright and that stealing or not, we will prosper. Lets pretend that our loved ones who died of preventable medical illnesses would have died anyway. Lets pretend that people who should be married but aren't are at fault or are all immoral. Still, lets pretend that those end of years prophecies given by people who've cut themselves a slice of the cake earlier in the game will finally come true this year.

The day we stop pretending and stop making jokes of our collective misery , and the day we stop lining up behind our countryman "crooks" life will actually start getting better for everyone.

Nigerians elected GEJ into office as their President they never elected Sambo DASUKI,as a matter of fact, some Nigerians are hearing the name Sambo DASUKI for the first time(The man is becoming more popular day in day out),the fact that our ex President signed off the money which was later diverted is a slap on his face as a leader that is directly accountable to the citizens that elected him into office.

The president is still responsible because:
- he appointed all the official people that shared the money.

- these monies were shared during election time so to suggest that he had no clue whatsoever is disingenuous

- being fooled should also be punishable for an official as high as the president. We didn't elect him to be swindled on our behalf.

etc.

Lawyers on the forum should put things in lawful perspective.
