Before explaining kindly answer these two questions:
1. How did you come about the £3900 account balance ? Was it deposited at once or saved over time from your salary?
2. What is your travel history like ? Have you been to the UK or any other first world country recently

It simply means that you can not afford the trip and the VO doesn't believe that the money found in your account is from your salary earnings.

Basically you borrowed money from elsewhere to boast your bank balance.

@justwise there are people here in Nigeria with take home of 57k monthly (federal civil servants) who apply for UK visas and get issued. Wonder why the VO is laying so much emphasis on his salary as against his £750 budget

I seriously doubt that.

There is no way a civil servant with 57k salary will receive a visa if he/she presents a statement of account with closing balance of N10m without properly demonstrating the source of funds.

The UKBA lay so much emphasis on how incomes are generated and applicants are selected randomly for visa interview, therefore if you do not support your application with paper evidence, how then do you explain to the ECO how funds in your account were generated?

It has been said severally on this thread that ALL sources of funds must be properly demonstrated and it's only through paper evidence since you're unlikely to be interviewed.

The poster's application was rejected because he/she failed to demonstrate that his/her employment/business that generates the stated income is substantial enough to bring him/her back to Ghana or neither was the ECO satisfied that the employment/business is subsisting and generates the said income.

In a nutshell poster was punished for money lodgement.

Pls,my people, has anyone booked hotel @ pasha hotel from booking.com,the hotel is a free booking and cancellation,until 48hrs before arrival before charging d whole money.
I later called d hotel after I got a mail that my credit card is declined, and I was told that I don't have enough money to cover my booking so therefore they can't authorise it...I have decided to update my card with enough money for d booking....
My question is shey dem no go commmot my money until that 48hrs to prior to my arrival.since I can guarantee a visa yet.
Pls, how solid is there conditions ooo,before I press pin code oo

Pls..its urgent as I have put in my application yesterday before seeing d mail....

They will block that amount on your credit card but won't charge you per se although you might get a report that such an amount was charged. It's when the time comes for it to be paid (48hrs deadline has passed) that you will see it actually show up on your credit card statement.

Kindly elaborate on what you mean by paper evidence. For salaries a payslip can serve as paper evidence. How about women who receive money from their husbands or young men who receive money from their parents? What paper evidence are they meant to present other than their bank statements?

You are playing with the Lion's tail. You had better make another booking before its too late, Infact you need to be extra prayerful cos the ECO might use the confirmation number u submitted with ur application and if it shows DECLINED, then u know what that means.

Thanks ooo,seeing the word lions tail alone made me rush to update my card... grin

Please house, my visa application was denied on the following grounds: I stated I earned about 500£ a month and spend 200£ on living expenses ( normal for a federal civil servant) but intend to spend 1500£ for 2 weeks of holiday ( the visa officer said he doesn't see any reason. Why I would spend about 8 month disposable income in 2 weeks and I could not establish Suffient ties to the country hence he denied my application. I submitted introduction letter from my government office and my account statement with over 600k as balance although salary is irregular due to my Microfinance bank commitments.

Been to uk before about 6 years ago on a 6 month visa spending just 3 weeks but my parents sponsored the trip then.

Please I need advice on the next to take

Hi ,

I have gone tru every single post on this session . I have a few questions .

1)I intend to apply for a uk visa and I am currently doing a contribution at work with my colleague and I intend to print my statement after they all paid , because it my turn to take it . I want to explain it in a cover letter , can I also include the chat of the whatsapp group of the contribution were it clearly should when we chat about who turn it is? Can you kindly advise how I can explain my contribution (Ajo/Osusu)

2) duration of the trip is 3days and my budget is 800pounds, but I feel it's too much for just a 3days trip ? Should I reduce the budget . Includes return ticket from Nigeria to the uk, hotel for 3 nights , feeding , local transportation(train), and tourism

3) in the form how much do you earn is it salary before tax or after tax?

4) applying for a tourist visa for 3days (for Easter )is it too short? Knowing very well I have never been to the uk , but I have a good travel history even still have a current US visa in my passport .

Kindly advise

Am not so up to date with the most recent UK tourist visa application procedures as I applied for my last UK tourist visa in 2012 and have since changed to the tier 4 visa which expired last year after I completed Uni. Nevertheless, This is my take on the issues you've raised:

1. Explain the contribution agreement and all in the letter. You dont' need the whatsapp Chat. Try and make sure the deposit from the contribution is done via a bank transfer and not a cash deposit. It is easier to determine the source of a deposit made via bank transfer.

2. How much do you earn monthly? If it is slightly more than £800, kindly increase your number of days of stay to 6 days as it will be more convincing to plan to spend all that money on a 6 day vacation than a 3 day vacation.

3. Put the amount you earn after tax.

4. 3 days is too short for a first timer. Remember the VO is a human being and will expect that someone visiting UK for the first time will be excited and will want to engage in as many activities as possible during their stay.

Lastly, London is an expensive city and I will advice those in a not very strong financial position to choose UK destinations such as manchester or Birmingham in their application .

When choosing a city to visit in the U.K. London is the favorite for first time visitors.
Many major tourist attractions are there, and VO understands that.
If you pick other cities like Birmingham or Manchester then make VERY sure that you have a convincing story of where you will visit as a tourist.

@abnot

I earn about 905.32pounds a months but after tax it's about 750pounds a monthly .and my contribution is 150,000naira monthly and we do not have a contribution agreement , maybe I will need to draft the agreement just to support it in my application , do u know how I can write it in my cover letter .

I actually intend to travel for just 3days 24th night then arrive uk 25th then live 28th , but am thinking will the vo not think is too short ?

Since it's a public holiday in Nigeria and I don't wanna apply for a leave so I intend to state it in my application that I will be off work since it's a public holiday and attach a letter of introduction from my office saying am a full employee of the organization .

Then you're good to go. Though I dont have experience in drafting of agreement letters and all. May be some experienced nairalanders will assist you with that. But try to book lowly priced hotel or hostel for the application purpose so you dont come accross as planning a trip that is too extravagant for your income

Hi every one, kindly advice: Is it adviceable to leave the additional information section blank and write a cover letter to support my application or write solely in the additional information section? I am having difficulties using such symbols as bracker, semi colon and more in the additional information sections

Are you trying to be too clever for your own good?
Keep your information short and clear.
If you write a long winded, complicated document they will only have time to quickly scan read it and make a decision.

You already have a UK visa so unless you have done something that will cause a rejection renew that one first.

Yes your salary is good but spending £800 is 3days holiday will cast doubt on your application.
Re: General UK Visa Enquiries - Part 3 by Bummi101: 12:10pm On Jan 14, 2016
It's 800pounds cos it includes the price of flight

Flight (return ticket ) = 450 pounds

Accomdation = 90 pounds for 3nights (30 pounds a night )

Feeding =£40

Local transportation = £40

Miscellaneous =£ 50

Shopping : =£100

Tourism = 70 pounds

Thanks a million. I have submitted my documents yesterday.
Keeping my fingers crossed!

Thanks to everyone for the advice and guidance.

It's not a factor that determines the successful outcome of a visa. Each application is treated on its own merit. Your purpose of visit and accommodation must be genuine.

If your statement of account is healthy without money logdement, your work documents intact and marriage certificate and picture included, your chances are high.

You can also list the documents you're submitting for review.

I understand that but still it makes no sense to spend such amount for 3days holiday.

£30 a night hotel? Where in the UK?

Increase the number of days. Make it a 1 week or 10 day trip. That should give you enough time for tourism. If you don't have enough time off work, maybe you shouldn't go now. You're feeding might be on the high side but it depends on individual tastes.
