Firstly, not everyone that doesn't agree with the general widespread story that Igbos are being oppressed by the rest of Nigeria is a Yoruba person, there are over 250 ethnic groups in Nigeria and there are also some Igbos too who don't agree with this age long propaganda.

Secondly, Nigeria is a country greatly divided along the ethnic lines, there is basically no tribe that doesn't hate or mistrust the other. Yorubas hate /mistrust Igbos and likewise, Igbos hate and mistrust Yorubas. But something that cannot be disputed is the fact that somehow, these 2 tribes have managed to co-exist peacefully in Lagos and other areas of the SW for a long time. Besides in the volatile north, there is basically nowhere in Nigeria where Igbos are not living peacefully and prospering. So my problem is, why do we want to deliberately break this peace?

Since the elections of 2015, some groups have continued to fuel and escalate this tribal hatred, a lot of Igbos like yourself have obviously fallen victim of this treachery. I do not know what some of you hope to achieve if Yorubas and Igbos eventually fail to see eye to eye. Every single thing is now painted as ‘a deliberate assault on Igbos’ and this further forces more neutral Igbos to hate Yorubas. I wonder what you hope to achieve with this.

Now you accuse Ambode of hating Igbos and deliberately destroying their markets exclusively to punish Igbos. No doubt, the government was wicked and irresponsible by not letting enough time for traders to move their things, but I wonder where you have arrived at your conclusion from that this was done because Ambode hates Igbos and wanted to punish Igbos. This is not the first time we heard of such accusation, the last time it was that 'Fashola hates and deports Igbos,' even though the same Fashola also deported Yorubas to some SW states too. Once again I ask, do you honestly think such a paranoid mindset (which can only fuel tribal hate), do you honestly think this mindset would be beneficial to anyone?.. If you honestly think it is beneficial, or it will be beneficial, then continue.

At least your post is reasoned not the senseless insults some throw around here. My suggestions is that you ask your leaders such as Ambode and the Deji that SPECIALIZE in assaulting Igbos and creating tribal hate between Igbo and Yoruba? FYI Ambode is a very weak leader and he is likely just carrying out the OBA's instructions.

You seem not to have gotten my simple point. Firstly I am not Yoruba, and yes I am from the SE; but I happen to be one of those who don't believe in the age long propaganda that the rest of Nigeria is just out to do nothing but hunt Igbos. I believe every other tribe is simply hustling for their collective daily bread and Igbos should be doing same instead of always lamenting and accusing every one else of witch-hunting. In summary, I fall into the category of Igbos fondly labelled as 'efulefu' because I dare to see and reason things differently from the crowd.

And regarding Ambode, there is hardly any state in Nigeria where governments dont demolish market stalls of innocent masses, It happened in warri, it happened in kaduna, abuja, portharcourt, owerri, benin, onitsha etc. and the stories have always been similar with the government not giving enough time for traders to move out their goods. My worry however is the way in which Igbos of recent have always quickly labelled every single problem of such nature as a pre-determined tribal assault specifically targeted against Igbos. This continued paranoid stance only has one effect, it will force more Igbos to hate other tribes especially their hosts wherever they go and this hate will consequently lead to the hosts hating Igbos in return. In a nutshell, this continued paranoia is not healthy for the welfare of Igbos or anyone at all.

Now your mind is already 100% made up that Oshodi market was demolished by Ambode purely because Ambode hates Igbos. This is the exact precedence I am talking about, it is a very unhealthy mindset which will neither help you nor the general Igbo society across Nigeria. But unfortunately, many Igbos have already been caught by this bug.

We know who is attacking Igbo - albeit recently with malice in rhetoric and actions to boot

2- I agree with you that Igbo and Yoruba are hurting themselves- meaning the Northerners WIN.

Their films are full of it, all Ibo narrations are full of it. Any pastor that wants Ibo members only need to preach "your enemy shall be destroyed by ..." and his church will be full of them.

Buhari just finished Bureau De change operators since he assumed his tenure, I heard authoritatively that he told them currency trading is not a job and we all know BDC operators to be hausa, but none is shouting marginalization.

Victim mentality only reduces you to a wimp which every idiot would want to step on. And yes, Igbo issues have been the most common topics in the NL politics section since GEJ lost the election so it's not a coincidence if a frequent Politics section visitor talks more on Igbo issues. And also, I zoom out of my hole all the time because it irritates me to my soul whenever I see Igbos crying like babies and ridiculing a great tribe all because one Ijaw man lost an election

This has shamefully become a recurring factor which keeps eroding the respect for Igbos across Nigeria.

Hmmmmm

Notice at the very beginning of our conversation today that I told you SOME Yoruba people. Not ALL. I gave you examples of some of the Leaders actions that are dividing us. E.g. Ambode destroying Igbo investments under whatever guise he claims is a very negative action indeed. Big Loss of capital for Igbos.

Ambode should strive to be SEEN as a leader for ALL.

When we point these things out, SOME Yorubas call us foreigners in our own country.

Chief ; I am an Igbo man. I don't work for the Lagos state government. Mr. Igbokwe is right.
We Igbo's must learn how to live and respect the laws of our host. We must learn to be accommodating and show respect for authorities in our host states.
Like it or not; we as Igbo's will never ever ever tolerate any other tribe or ethnic group coming to Igbo land to break our laws or way of life. I am an Igbo man and I know this to be true.
This our very disrespectful attitude towards non Igbos is the very reason why the rest of the country has been gradually pushing us out from governance.
Honestly Yourubas have been very generous to us.

Instead of calling our generous host names
;
-Why don't we all hold our state governments accountable for the gradual death of Onitsha main market - a market that used to be the biggest in West Afria few years ago.

-Why don't we hold them accountable for the Nkalagu Cement Industry - a pride of Igbo states, that used to be way bigger than Dangote Cement of today.

- Why don't we hold them responsible for the gradual death of ABA- that usedway to be the Japan of Africa.

Let the truth be told.
On point bro!

Your post half made sense till the very end.
You started off good arguing with little emotion until the end you show your true feelings which then negates your argument.
So you have shown your hand with that last statement.

To that last statement I say the reality is Igbos are Nigerians. You are no more Nigerian than them. They have every right to live and work in LAGOS, NIGERIA - the former federal capital.
Likewise you can too in ABA. You can accept that reality or continue to be annoyed all you want. Your choice.

The issue for me is SIMPLE - AMBOdes destruction of Igbo people Capital by the government of the day WITHOUT compensation. Look at the topic of this thread if you forgot. This act is DONE in bad faith. Why not let the people come back so they can have an opportunity to at least move their wares?
Do you know that these people have families to feed?

Ambode is a public figure, a politician and attack on him or his policies is FAIR game. It is NOT necessarily an attack on Yoruba people. DONT CONFUSE the two.

I am a business man myself and I understand business and economics. When you destroy peoples goods it is a DIRECT hit on their bottom line. In Nigeria we dont ( or hardly have insurance) so those goods are lost. Some people owe on those goods. SO now you have let them destitute and debtors too.

You are an intelligent person ( not one of these thugs, devoid of logic in their brains that come here to shout insults) - at least from from your post I can see that. Yoruba and Igbo are badly hurting themselves and that road is a DEAD END. I myself supported Buhari because I felt that Jonathan was WEAK and ineffective leader.
