The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission will today arraign the National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party, Chief Olisa Metuh, before the Federal Capital Territory High Court in Abuja for charges bordering on destruction of evidence.
Metuh, who has been on remand in prison, pending when he would fulfil the bail conditions imposed on him by a Federal High Court in Abuja with respect to the charges of money laundering involving N400m, part of funds meant for procurement of arms which he allegedly collected from the office of the National Security Adviser in November 2014.
‎Metuh allegedly tore his written statement and attempted to chew it while he was being investigated for the money laundering case.
Prison authorities have produced Metuh before Justice Ishaq Bello for the arraignment to take place

Before the selective rule of law people come. Someone should explain to me if he meets the bail condition for the previous case in which he was charged, will he be released or will EFCC claim that they have rearrested him again for this case. Lets someone with more knowledge clear this up now before it generates another controversy.

The judge however dismissed the second prayer contained in Metuh’s bail application seeking an order restraining the EFCC from re-arresting him after being granted bail.
Justice Abang held that such prayer could not be entertained in a bail application but only under a fundamental human rights enforcement suit.

I understand that part, but with respect to this case. Is this new charge a new arrest? Does that mean that even if he meets the previous bail condition he will need to get another bail for this case? these are my questions.

New charge means new arrest. He will need to get another surety for this new charge. You know how many times Dasuki don get bail?
