patches689:Technology doesn't work that way. As at when your Chaka was developed you were given what you asked for. It doesn't necessarily mean it was the best technology at that time. Moreover, the world of information technology is not stationary. A lot of innovation and alternative cheaper technology with better performance than your system have been developed. For example your link ZA uses a half duplex technology which is based on link 11 which also has low throughput. But currently link 22 is not just full duplex but a real time system and I guess this answers your question on ability of a TDL to display videos. The world of ICT is fast changing and you should stop basing or limiting your knowledge to what you have. |

iblawi:My point is not that I am dubious of whether or not there are better systems out there. What I am dubious of is the claims of your brethren regarding the Eagle |

agaugust:We did you retaard, go read the conclusion of the report!! Calling me a liar yet you said you are an Accountant a Military researcher and a finance manager....You claim to live in Apapa but then all of a sudden you live in the US, you have also aged backwards. |

patches689:For the Eagle I can't say much cos I don't have the technical details neither do I know how it operates. I guess we just leave that matter for now until we have better information about the system. The only thing I know is that it must have been useful for the Nigerian air force and army but I don't know the extent of it usefulness for now. But I don't what to believe your claim that it's just a video conferencing system. How will anyone praise an army for installing a video conferencing system. Why can't they just use GLO or MTN video call to communicate with each other. The best thing will still be to wait for more information before making a conclusion. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 8:28pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
iblawi:Its not based on Link 11, the SANDF has access to Link 11 and it was found that it wasn't efficient enough for our uses, thus we designed LinkZA LinkZA is comparable to Link16 and Link22 |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by patches689: 8:35pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
iblawi:I agree completely. No point in fighting about stuff when we have no idea what we are fighting about. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by iblawi(m): 8:37pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
jln115:Link 22 is a real time system and it's currently not fully operational. Most equipment are still using Link 16 and not all NATO members will have access to Link 22. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 8:59pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
iblawi:Link 22 was never developed to replace Link 16, it was developed to replace Link 11 and complement Link 16, Link 16 is mostly used as an anti air warfare TDL where as Link 22 is mostly a Maritime TDL also the Guidebook for Link 22 was published back in 2009, so basically LinkZA and Link22 became operation at about the same time. And BTW Link 16 and LinkZA are real time systems.....Thats basically the point for having a Data Link, to share Data in real time. Interesting Fact: Link 16 is in fact harder to Jam then Link 22. |

jln115:We are still saying the same thing link 22 is to replace link 11 and to be compatible with link 16. Link 22 is still being upgraded. So how are you sure they have the same capabilities. Besides, different countries have input to Link 22 development And I guess it should be more sophisticated than link za considering the fact that this countries are always at war and they are more technologically advanced. |

[s] Henry240:[/s] Eagle is just an ordinary video conferencing nothing more. No single source that says it is a C2 system. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 9:44pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
iblawi:It will be expensive to use GLO or MTN. Video conferencing is free and cheap to access. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 9:46pm On Jan 23, 2016*. Modified: 10:13pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
Henry240:Close monitoring means by providing live videos. That is an evidence that it is a video conferencing. C2 does not do close monitoring. Monitoring can only be through seeing and observing. C2 it directs, channels and controls. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by iblawi(m): 9:50pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
mzilakazi:And you won't pay for the link you will use right? Or even the cost of installation |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by iblawi(m): 9:51pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
mzilakazi:Guy you monitor location of troops. Do you think you can give command without monitoring your troops? |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 9:54pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
One simple question for agaugust. Can you tell us why does videos show on your C2 system if that is not an ordinary Video conferencing? The so called VTC. Tell us more chief. I am still waiting for your answer. There is no C2 system that shows videos. Even US troops and NATO use Video conferencing when troops communicates to the president and their families home. So, tell us why does videos show on your C2? |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 10:00pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
iblawi:That is monitoring in terms of video chatting with troops asking them what do they need and if they are satisfied overall. You can even see the president looking and talking to troops live perhaps informing him about some new development. Now tell us what does video has to do with a C2 system? That has to be a video conferencing tools. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 10:05pm On Jan 23, 2016 |
iblawi:Nope, you will only incure the costs of installation and from there you will have your own network separated from that of telecoms. |

General C.T Olukoju has made use of a simple CISCO to construct his mobile video conferencing.

iblawi:Not saying they have the same abilities for one Link 16 is frequency hopping TDL were as Link 22 is a fixed frequency TDL, they have different capabilities because they fulfill different roles. -There are a lot of thing that should be more sophisticated than what South Africa has for example MRAPs yet for some reason they still can't come near SA in terms of mine protection I urge you to go find that a MRAP that as better mine resistance capabilities than the 30 year old Casspir. -Artillery is another example, furthest firing SP Howitzer is the G6, it out classes its rivals by nearly 10km, and its a 20 year old design. 0Missile systems, currently the most capable ATMG on the Market is the Mokopa, the A Darter will also be on of the most sophisticated Short range AA missiles when it comes in to service. -EW and Combat suits, Thats why we fitted a locally developed EW suite on the Gripen, Also 75% of the Valour class's combat suite is locally developed. -Communications systems.....the SANDF is in fact receiving a tactical communication system that is a world first in terms of capability. -Telescopes. -Radar systems -HMDs ect ect Isolation did wonders for the South African defence industry!! |

jln115: iblawi:Guy this was what I posted. I don't understand what you quoted it's was modified. Besides I was referring to Link za and link 22. Enhancements and implementation is still ongoing on Link 22 HF fixed frequency and I believe you cannot compare what you don't know or even understand fully. "In 2012 Germany submitted the new HF-FF technology to NATO and NILE program, for ratification and adoption respectively. In 2015 the NILE program approved the adoption of the new HF-FF technology, with full support anticipated for 2016." |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 11:36am On Jan 24, 2016 |
iblawi:Yes sorry misunderstood your post, thought you meant the capabilities between Link 16 and Link 22. Anyway as for the bolded part, It has nothing to do with further development of Link22, its rather an integration of new HF-FF technology with Link22/NILE program. Hence were it says "ratification and adoption" Same why we had to integrate our new generation HF, V/UHF, IPCS and SRCS with LinkZA. Also I'm not claiming I know anything about radio frequency ect because I dont, after all I study accounting!! But I do know enough to know the difference between upgrading/developing and integration/adoption I'm also pretty sure after reading your post, that you don't know much more on the matter than I do. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by iblawi(m): 12:00pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
jln115:Ok but I know enhancing the performance of a system is same as upgrading it capabilities. |

jln115:So the combat suite for the Valour Frigate is now South-African, no longer French? Retardation is really a South-African. No, sanctions did no wonders for the South-African defence industry. South-Africa is only good at building MRAPs. Even in that area, You have been overtaken by the Americans, Chinese, Australians and Canadians. I mean 90% of all components used in SA defence industry is imported. Your MRAPs, the engines, steel and glass are imported. |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 12:56pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
Henry240:SA is the leader of MRAPS in the world. SA does not import glass, steel and engines. You bounced. SA has a plenty glass sand and produces glass. That's why we are a leader in that field in Africa. That's why we are building cars without assembly. SA has iron ore mines and is a leader of steel production in Africa. |

| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 1:15pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
Henry240:The combat management system is french, the combat suit is basically every thing from missiles to Radar. Actually Retardation is a Nigerian thing, i mean i just have to look at that sentence "Retardation is really a South-Africa" WTF is that supposed to mean? If so, why are they still importing South African MRAPs, we are also world leaders in missile technology, HMDs(which we also invented), Telescopes, communication systems, Artillery ect ect. | Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 1:19pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
iblawi:They are not specifically enhancing Link22, but rather the communication system as a whole!! But i get what you're saying! |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by mzilakazi(m): 1:21pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
South Africa has always been the leader in steel export even though now the market negatively affected by the chinese market. SA is not a steel importer. Henry is wrong. http://m.engineeringnews.co.za/article/modest-recovery-forecast-for-south-african-steel-industry-2014-02-28 |
| Re: Who Has The Strongest Military In Africa? by Nobody: 2:17pm On Jan 24, 2016 |
jln115:"O’Flaherty calls the “unabating surge” in Chinese steel imports part of a “fundamental structural change” in the steel market. Official trade statistics put the steel and iron imports from China at about 240 000 tons in the first five months of last year. In the same five months this year, South Africa imported 489 000 tons from China – more than double last year’s number." - So now, the combat suite is no longer French, it is no longer the same as on the Lafayette, F100 and Charles De Guelle, it is now South-African. I'll have you know that the god and leader of all South-Africans in Nairaland, Patrick aka Patches689 has something different to say. Obviously a typo, dummy, Retardation is actually a South-African. Nobody apart from a few African countries are importing from you. - You are not a leader in missile technology - You are not a leader in HMD,BAE systems produced the Cobra HMD * The rest of your comment is all South-African delusions not worth responding to. |
