And what makes you think the guy is not with the actual marriage certificate which he presented to the US embassy before he was issued the visa

And the op probably gave an edited version of what went down btw her and the estranged husband. Story is not necessarily fake.

I think everywhere in the world, you file an intent to marry before you actually marry, which is the piece of paper shown in the op.

Americans don't like humiliation.
Osama Bin laden humiliated them on September 11th 2001 by bombing the twin tower and they don't wanna see that happen again.

And you will tell me someone presented a fake ass marriage certificate and they gave him a visa.

You are 100% correct. As a matter of fact, immigration visa based on marriage is on conditional statues. Meaning you must remain married for the period of condition or you risk deportation. About 3 years period.

False info.

there is absolutely no reason why anyone would need to obtain a fake marriage certificate or whatever unless the person is a terrorist being assisted to do so.

Getting a valid certificate is not hard, likewise if you are going to the trouble of applying for entry based on marriage, there is no point looking for a fake certificate when its the same amount of trouble you go to get a real one. Doing a real one is actually easier than obtaining a fake.

and, getting the fake certificate past US immigration protocols, would definitely have to be a job involving more than two people.

I quite agree with you that the story, as narrated here, cannot be the whole truth. Be that as it may, it's not difficult to bring such a person to book na.
According to her, he has a Job,he has SSN, and he is legal. In fact, within 2 days of her lodging a formal complaint, I'm sure he will be picked up. And if she's American as she claimed, she will know this.
That is even if we choose to ignore the improbability of a spousal visa being issued on the strength of a marriage license o!!!

Hello everyone. I have a question and was hoping you could shed me some light in a matter. I am in America. I went to Nigeria in 2011 and married my husband. I petition for him in 2012 and he arrived to America in 2013. Three months later he left. He is here in America, just not with me. He just left once he received his social security number, his permanent visa and a job in two months of being here. I haven't heard from him nor seen him again. I been wondering for a long time if my marriage to him is valid. In the marriage license it says it expired in 2013. I don't understand that.

Was our marriage set up or arranged to be temporary? I don't really understand Nigerian law or customs concerning marriage. (I am not Nigerian) I know my husband was rushing me to get him here before that expiration date. I am very confused. I also went to the office of public records here in America and they couldn't find any marital records of me and my husband, nothing. On the back of my marriage license issued in Nigeria, there is a website of marriage records, I entered my name and his name and didn't find anything. It just says no records found. Am I married to him or was it all fake? Can you please help me find out? I'd appreciate it. Even if it was all a scam, I still have Nigeria in my heart and will never have anything against Nigeria and Nigerians. Just my husband. Thank you in advance.

Most likely.. He was on a mission... Your best bet is to contact USCIS.

Sorry if I'm crucifying you o. But for someone who claims to have lived all his life in the US and a legal practitioner, your English sounds so very Nigerian like you just left Nigeria. I can tolerate some errors above as typos but "Let she tell us the name".... This right here is murder.

Wait, I want to believe you came down for the wedding. They must have handed the certificate to you after pictures and all.. what did the certificate they gave you look like? If it was done in some local Govt area then it may be different from Ikosi Registry but not to the extent of having a expiry date on it... Naija sha! All things are possible here

You don't know shiit.
Remove what condition on what visa ??
You don't know anything about american visa.
Once he gets the visa and migrates here, he only needs 2 weeks to receive his SSN and Permanent residence.
What do you need the visa for ??
There is no goddam condition removal.

Yes, you were married to him during the embassy process. USEL is knowledgable about Nigerians and fraudulent paperwork. I read an interview (on another immigration site) where an USEL official alleged that they assume that any document presented to me is automatically a fraud until proven otherwise.

At some point during the NVC stage you must have presented the original marriage certificate else your approved petition wouldn't have been sent to Lagos. Even if they asked that your Husband present the original one during the interview due to timing, he would still have had to show the original certificate to them. USE are known to focus on dates of expirations. Heck they won't even apply visa to your passport if the passport expires within 6 months.

After the interview they would have given your Husband back a stack of some, not all, of the documents that you submitted with the petition. I wager that your Husband has your original wedding certificate (if you really need to see an example of mine I can go drag it out from the safe).

Your Husband entered the US with a visa that expired at the POE and he would have been given a temporary one year residence stamp. This is why he was able to work inside of two months BUT after he got his SSN. He left after he got his 2 years residence card (to a visa) which is common to fraudsters.

Personally I think you are lucky that he vacated willingly and didn't harm you criminally and financial. Some of this nefarious characters will fake domestic violence. If they successfully go though a DV petition then they get all sorts of free government support and in most cases a fast track to citizenship in order to escape a violent spouse.

Your Husband is gone.

Go and file for divorce (I'm certain that you're married legally regardless of what some unseasoned Nigerian website says), serve him in absentia, notify USCIS (go to there website for full contact info) let then know that he left you within two months (remember that this is not instill a crime and he won't be picked up at all and they will simply wait till he's pulled over by LEO or he applies for another immigration benefit. Also provide information to USEL so they can have it on records. Personally I would walk in the evidence to the local USCIS office and ask to speak to an Officer so that you can hand the info over directly.

You're not a fraud and not alone, this happens all the time. Some folks don't even make it home together from the airport. Also remember that you are responsible for him for the next 10 years or thereabouts unless he becomes a citizen in case he receives any government assistance. Remember form I-864 that you fill out? http://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/files/form/i-864.pdf

Good luck.
