Evening House,
In terms of PVC and Suspended ceiling can you list the pros and cons of each one?
I have had a few suggestions on using POP/PVC and someone recently brought Suspended ceiling to my attention so wanted to get more information on this.
Appreciate your responses

If you can afford it. POP is the best way to go.. it pays on the long run... many advantages too.

What thickness of slab are u casting and what ratio of mix are you doing? 1:2:4 is Ideal.....with the answer, I can help you...you only gave a 2dimensional parameter which will give us the area while the volume is needed

Thanks Oga Haji,
Me self love the look of POP but the cost dey scare me and man don blow budget small.
Moreover I am looking at the benefits of this in a Rental accomodation that is not in the top earning areas of Lagos so need to consider cheaper (but decent options) for now.
POP will come in the next project by Grace of God.

If you know where Tower Aluminium factory is in your location, go buy by yourself and let them install. The company usually has installers who come to measure and cost everything for you.

I once got an outrageous #115,000 bill from a seller for 30mtrs of 0.55 guage for a small job we had. And, he had been supplying me before. I took the bull by the horn and went to the factory only to spend just about #45,000 for the same 30mtrs.

Then you next option should be PVC. The PVC photo I posted is from Amoula Ventures at Ikeja. Very good PVC.
Look at their Daniella color, you will like it...

This is better than the quotation I have, though others might have something even better.

My installer used the same unit price for everything but here some are even 300 naira.
God don catch am.

Just make sure that their quotes from the measurements are close to the actual.

Could you please give me their phone number.

@Befto, there are people who got POP job done for a little more than the cost of having PVC ceiling here from my guy but I'm sure they won't share those info here because it's not bad news.

POP increases the value of your commercial property. No doubt about it.

Are you doing mechanical or manual mix? I mean are you using a concrete mixer or manual concrete mix.

Manual mix, it's such a small area.

Manual mix, it's such a small area.

15 tons granite
20 ton sharp sand
50 bags of cement

There's should be leftover.

Caster should be fine with 50k (ballpark figure). Let them use wheelbarrow to pour the slab.

Breakdown below:

Each person takes like 3k (Ibadan should be cheaper)

2 people on wheelbarrow
3 people on granite
3 people on sand
2 people mixing and loading
1 spreader
1 tapper
I assume you have hose on site for water runs.
Equipment rental (wheelbarrow, shovel, Headpans) should be less than 4k

@brabus,
Please can you share your POP guy's details so we can see what he has to offer?
Do you mean POP all round the house or POP in some places while PVC in others?
I have got some quotes for POP and they have been expensive so far (compared to PVC) so maybe I am looking in the wrong places.
Please share these details.

Thanks again

It's full POP all round the house.

You may want to call me or chat me up. I'll let you into how to deal with him. When I give him out to people, I always give them the instruction manual of how to deal with him in order to avoid the story that touches the heart.

But interestingly, I have no other POP guy. If you're looking for his reference jobs. Just check my POP works. He did all!

Folks I am in the same boat with Befto with respect to my project. I have made up my mind to combine POP, ceiling screeding with cornices for the ground floor. And also combine POP and PVC for the first floor. However I just got a new idea but I am not sure if anybody have used this is naija before. In my present house my ground floor ceiling was done using what my builder called knockdown paint. It is a powdery paint that is water based. It is normally prayed on smoothly finished ceiling surface. See some of the pictures attached. This is the ground floor ceiling for my present house. Please can I get this in Lagos? Do we have artisans who know how to do this in Lagos?
