With the global economy reeling from plunging oil prices occasioned by massive over production, Nigeria, a key member of the Organisation of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC), which depends hugely on oil revenue for its foreign exchange, has requested an emergency meeting to discuss steps to possibly cut down oil production and prop up oil prices.http://government.leadership.ng/news/495048/nigeria-iran-clash-opec-emergency-meeting

OPEC needs to meet and take a firm decision on supply cut soon, it is inevitable. Crude oil price need some stability in the interest of all players in the market. |

So nugeria is calling for emergency meeting so that other opec members will cut down on production but d solution is simple. Nigeria should stop producing at all so that there'll be less oil in d market. Isn't it funny that nigeria wants others to cut down supply but doesn't want to cut its own. |

smsshola:If Iran can survive all these years under sanctions without exporting crude at all, then low oil prices should not be a concern at all. The question is, how was Iran able to survive and indeed thrive without exporting crude? How were they able to fund exports? How were they able to stabilize their currency? I think Nigeria should go and take lessons from Iran on how to survive without oil. |

PAINGAIN:Did I hear u say, "naija should cut so that there will be "LESS" oil in the market? I laugh u bro, IRAN can service the whole oil consumers for the next 50yrs and nothing will happen. |
| Re: Nigeria, Iran Clash Over OPEC Emergency Meeting by seunmsg(m): 10:19am On Jan 26, 2016 |
PAINGAIN:All OPEC members have a daily production quota. So, what Nigeria will be asking for at the emergency meeting is a general cut in members quotas across board. One country alone cutting production cannot be effective but when it's a collective decision, the effect will be significant. It is an inevitable decision if the oil producing countries want stability to return to the crude oil market. |

After the Shiite Muslim issues in Nigeria,Iran will do everything possible to jeopardize opec's effort especially as Nigeria is involved. |

wirinet:do you know Iran's population. They produce about twice of what we produce. They have got functioning refineries , They didn't geneate forex from crude import. An islamic country where you can get money from banks without interest thus, making it easy to do business. Still yet, they needed the sanctions lifted. Now compare to Nigeria. |
