Sad effect of war in Africa

http://www.punchng.com/eritrea-orders-men-to-marry-two-wives-or-be-jailed/

More than 150,000 Eritrean soldiers were killed during the secession war from Ethiopia between 1998 and 2000. At the time Eritrea had about four million people.

Either ethiopians are really, really good fighters

Or Eritreans are really, really bad fighters

Morocco's navy bought second hand Exocet missiles for some of her new guided missile corvettes.

$4 million will put such Exocet block II missiles on NNS Anyam, she currently has missile launchers for Exocet Block I, but the missiles faulty from manufacturer in France, led to a hot contract dispute, not sure, but the French might have sent us replacement missiles, I don't know.

NNS Anyam is still deadly because she also has anti-ship torpedoes with about 30km range, the point is, no enemy frigate can stop Anyam's torpedoes with CIWS, the torpedoes move underwater, making the NNS Anyam like a 'surfaced attack submarine'
.

The figures are wrong for the date time window, Eritrean session war lasted decades, not the 2 year Badme border war. Also ask Ethiopia to release their own casualty figures to compare. ICG International crisis group says about 300,000 soldiers died on both sides in Badme war and about 150,000 each side. Truth may never be known. Eritrea is said by some analysts to have the best 'natural aptitude' infantry/foot soldiers in Africa, but I know the Ethiopians fear them.

I differ on missiles.

My first and only priority is to build local capacity to design, build and deliver vessels of all sizes to the Nigerian navy, in good time and quality.

Missiles can always be bought and would expire, but the capacity to build your own vessels is timeless. I'd rather we concentrate on building and delivering 50 - 90 meters vessels for the navy. The navy buys a lot of IPVs from local manufacturers, but i do not like the sizes they seem to be coming in at.

The threats we would continue to face for the foreseeable future would continue to remain internal. Let us deliver ships, modular enough to receive missiles in the future, but tailored to deal with our current threats. No imported, but local designs and manufactures.

6 police officers killed, 3 injured as RDU lorry drives over IED in kenya Lamu County

At least six police officers were Tuesday killed and three injured while two were missing when an Administration Police lorry ran over an Improvised Explosive Device in Mangai area, Lamu County.
The lorry was carrying at least 15 officers from the Rapid Deployment Unit when it stepped on the IED. Officials said they were looking for the missing officers and those injured had life threatening injuries. The area is regarded dangerous as it has many Al-Shabaab militants roaming there in the nearby Lamu forest. Police headquarters was mum on the issue when reached for comments. “Six officers were killed when their vehicle stepped on an IED near Milimani area. Three others were wounded and efforts to trace others who are missing are on,” said a senior officer in the area who asked not to be named. Witnesses said the lorry was targeted at a bushy area where the explosive had been planted on the road.

Nigerian Airforce reconfigures Trainer aircraft bought from USA

“Convinced that the project would work, the NAF consequently assembled a team of technicians to develop a feasible model for the project. The weapons model worked on ground, and the weapons has since been mounted on the Alpha Jets, and test flown successfully.

“This feat is a major research and development breakthrough for the NAF and the Nation as a huge foreign exchange saver given that the project only cost about =N= 400,000 ($2,000) compared to what would be required to have it done abroad” the statement concluded.

I agree 100%.

NN builds all 35m to 42m MPVs at home. Try get missile installation capacity reserved and ready at home. In a sudden war, NN can transform 10 modular MPVs into missile armed combat vessels with 30mm to 76mm main guns for EEZ sea dominance in one week.

Five police officers feared dead, three injured in Lamu IED attack

Five police officers were Tuesday morning feared dead and three others critically injured when a vehicle they were travelling in drove over an explosive device suspected to have been planted by Al-Shabaab militants along the Hindi-Kiunga road in Lamu.

The officers were heading to the Usalama Camp located at the Lamu-Somalia border when the incident happened just a few kilometers from Milimani in Lamu East sub-county at around 11am.

According to sources who spoke to the Nation on condition of anonymity, suspected Al-Shabaab militants torched the lorry after it was hit by the improvised explosive device (IED). The militants then escaped into the Boni Forest.

“It is true that an RDU lorry heading to Usalama Camp, where the security wall is being built was attacked by suspected Al-Shabaab at around 11am. The incident happened near Baure, just a few kilometers past Milimani. Five of our 10 security officers that were in the vehicle are feared dead while three others are critically injured. Officers have already gone to the ground and expect more information later,” said the officer.

When i saw these photos, i was shocked. I thought i was looking at Syria, Southern lebanon or Gaza. I mean even Maiduguiri in North-East of Nigeria doesn't look this fvcked.

"Isn't turkey supposed to be the Europe's 6th largest(Economy) country?".

The troops look well kitted and properly trained though.

I mean look at that facility, and it's not even the largest facility in Lagos.

I don't even want the Navy building ships, contracts should instead be given to local suppliers to build and deliver to the Navy's specifications.

Exactly my point, easily transform the vessels to capital fighting ships.

76mm on 45m MPVs, with additional 2x 23mm & 2x 7.62mm GPMGs, while 35m MPVs carry 2x 30mm, 2x 12.7mm and 2x GPMGs.
